Three persons killed in DPR in Ukrainian shelling over week / DONi News / July 9, 2017 / Three people were killed, six were wounded in the Donetsk People’s Republic over the past week as a result of hostilities, a representative of the DPR Ombudsperson’s Office reported on Friday. The Contact Group on Ukraine had previously agreed on a truce in Donbass from June 24 midnight. According to the OSCE Special Representative Martin Sajdik, the silence regime was planned to be established “along the entire contact line for the harvest period, from June 24 to August 31.” However, the Ukrainian party continues carrying out bombardments of the Republic’s civil infrastructure. “From June 30 to July 6, 2017, six persons were wounded in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic due to the armed aggression on the part of Ukraine, three of them were servicemen of the Republic. Over the same period, three persons were killed, all of them were the Republic’s defenders,” said a representative of the DPR Ombudsperson’s apparatus. According to the department, since the beginning of the year, 413 persons have been severely injured, 170 of them were civilians, including nine children. 175 persons have been killed, 21 of them were civilians, including one child. Over the entire period of the conflict, 4,464 persons were killed in the DPR territory, including 75 children, added the Ombudspersons office.

One dead, seven wounded in Lugansk terror attacks / TASS / July 7, 2017 / Lugansk / Two blasts occurred near the Square of Heroes of the Great Patriotic War in central Lugansk, where offices of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) administration are located, on Friday. The blasts occurred within an hour of each other. The first blast, which killed a female military medical officer and left five people wounded, was classified by the LPR militia as a terrorist attack. “A homemade explosive devise seems to have been planted in a garbage can near a grocery store,” Spokesman for the LPR militia Andrei Marochko said at a briefing at the Luganskinfromecetner news agency’s headquarters. “The type and yield of the explosive device are being specified,” he added. In about an hour, the second blast occurred 30 meters away from the scene of the first explosion. “The second explosion went off several dozen meters away from the site of the firs blast when law enforcers were working on the site. Two civilians were wounded,” he added. Law enforcement officials and members of the people’s militia of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) have expanded the cordoned off area and beefed up security measures. “A series of appalling terror attacks were committed today in the broad daylight in the center of Lugansk. Explosions rocked a densely populated district near a place of public entertainment, a children’s ground, people’s militia headquarters,” LuganskInformcenter quoted LPR’s Head Igor Plotnitsky as saying. “Terrorist attacks are always geared to intimidate not only those who are affected by them but also the entire civilian population. I call on the residents of the republic to demonstrate vigilance and not to yield to panic,” he stressed. “I would like to reassure you that the republic’s leadership, law enforcement agencies and security service are spare no effort to punish those responsible for these terror attacks and prevent possible aggressive actions in future,” Plotnitsky pledged.

Zakhar Prilepin (–Rusvesna.su)

Zakhar Prilepin: We Already Won (Interview) / Russophile.org / July 8, 2017 / ZAVTRA: Some believe that your participation in the war in Donbass is literary mystification. How would you respond to this? ZAKHAR PRILEPIN: “My battalion, consisting of 200 fighters, already for half a year works on the territory of Donbass. I think, the Minister of Defence and all neighbouring units — and this is a good 1,000 people — see both work and the result of work of our battalion, which is on the very front line in the region of Panteleymonovka near Gorlovka (before this it was on the front line near Kominternovo).” Why did you chose especially Donetsk, and not Lugansk? “Here the military activity is more intensive, a more democratic leadership, ready for various innovations, and is open for contact.” Who do you consider yourself to be today: artist or fighter? “I don’t think about literature already for many months. I don’t write books, and in general I don’t really remember how to do it. I practically don’t read anything, I am completely submerged in the affairs of my battalion. Now nothing besides Donbass interests me.” The people fighting in Donbass are very different — from different countries, regions, with different educations. Has some common image of a Donetsk soldier developed in your imagination? “As a part of my battalion specifically there is an Armenian, a Kazakh, and a Serbian. There are also guys from Tatarstan, there are about 10-15 Russians from different regions of the country. 90% of the battalion are Donetsk or Lugansk guys. Somehow this is a special psychotype, of course, anyway they are in their main mass connected with the life of a local miner. But in general — it is the average Russian carefree type, something between Vasily Terkin and Captain Tushin.” This type formed in Donbass when members of the Molodaya gvardiya were acting earlier? “I think, it formed already at the time of writing ‘Tale of Igor’s Campaign‘. It was possible to meet such people at the time of Ivan Grozny, Stepan Razin, and in Aleksandr Suvorov‘s troops.” When we watch on TV the militiamen of Donbass, it is their eyes that are striking — as if they are from icons. Pure, very honest, shining with some inner force and truth. To what extent does this impression correspond to reality? “There, there are really a lot of abnormally good people. Although you can meet also bad ones. But in general — yes, they almost saints. For miserable money, absolutely non-understandable for the Muscovite — 16,000 rubles — the 26,000 army of the militia during three years fights and dies, giving their lives for the highest human values. They do it with ease, with a smile, with enthusiasm. Probably that’s why certain wrinkles on faces in one way or another built themselves according to this relation to life.” What super-idea unites them? “Russian, of course. The existence of Russia in itself – this is indeed . . . READ MORE>>

Three Ukrainian fighter jets included in shooting down MH17 – Leaked Documents / DONi News / July 1, 2017 / The website Sovershenno Secretno continues sensational Ukrainian official document leaks from the tragic events and shooting down of the Malesian airlines flight MH17 over Donbass on 07/17/2014. What has come clear, we should forget all those unproven fairy tales about use of land based BUK-missiles, and turn our focus to the proven executed combat operations of the Ukrainian air forces fighter jets. Release of new materials includes not only new top secret documents of the Ukrainian officials and Ukrainian Security Service, SBU, but also very important testimonies, which highlight the facts: Three Ukrainian airforce fighter jets were on combat operations in Donbass and one or more of these military aircrafts are directly responsible for shooting down the Boeing 777, murderding almost 300 people on board. “Look, I know for sure, that the copies of these orders have been reshuffled from the staff documents of the Chuguev air force unit. I know by name the people, who did this. I know where the original of Voloshin’s flying card is now… They committed a deliberate murder, they shot down the passenger board. They fulfilled a special operation.” “The airplanes eventually took off on the 17th! Fact,” said the Ukrainian source behind the document leaks to the Soverchenno Secretno. Here is some of the keypoints from the revealed top secret material: 1. We believe, that the «Chuguev’s» documents and witnesses’ revelations are the necessary puzzle, that will help restore the tragic events of July 17, 2014. The day, when the «Boeing» was shot down. On that day, when at 13:20:03 UTC or 16:21:28 local time, the recording of the flight recorders of a passenger airplane with 298 passengers and crew members broke. Three years ago. 2. Both the flight plan No.734 and the orders of the Commander of the military unit A 4104 No.No.702, 734, and the testimony of the Chief of Staff, Officer and refueler of this airbase, and even a summary of the weather conditions for July 17, 2014 lead us to the conclusion that on July 17, 2014, an airplane (or several aircraft) of the Ukrainian Air Force shot down a passenger Boeing 777, flight MN17. These could be planes SU-25M1 No.08, SU-27 No.36, MIG 29MU1 No. 29 (according to the information from the order of the Commander of the aircraft unit Dubovik) or «Sushkas» No.52 (unknown pilot), No.64 and No.63. 3. It was Captain Samofalov, who told to «Source B.», that according to his information on July 17, 2014, the fighter SU-27 made a combat sortie from the . . . READ MORE>>

Radar data debunks official MH17 findings, locator could not ‘miss’ missile – Russian air regulator / RT.com / June 27, 2017 / Russian radar could not have failed to notice a projectile approaching Flight MH17, despite the claims by a Dutch minister, the head of Rosaviatsia says. The lack of radar marks shows nothing approached the plane from the east, despite official findings. Last week, the Dutch government published a series of replies by Security and Justice Minister Stef Blok, who explained to a parliamentary commission why radar data provided by Russia did not show any objects approaching the MH17 flight, including a Buk missile. The radar, according to Blok, could simply miss a missile. The minister compared the radar to a lighthouse, claiming that a missile could slip through during its “turn” and therefore leave no trace on Russia’s Utes-T air route radar system. Blok also claimed that the radar could not register such a relatively small object as a Buk missile. “It is inappropriate to say that a radar station could miss the missile,” the head of Russian aviation regulator Rosaviatsia, Oleg Storchevoy, said Tuesday, commenting on the latest Dutch claims. The Russian Utes-T air route radar system is able to detect far smaller objects than a Buk missile, according to Storchevoy, and while its turn time is 10 seconds, Utes-T could not miss any object approaching the plane. “If a projectile was moving along the trajectory described in the version of ‘launch on a head-on course,’ as the Dutch party claims, its flight time would be about 35 seconds. Accordingly, the radar would register at least two or three clear ticks – the so-called echo-signals from an object, moving towards the plane,” the official added. While the MH17 black box data indicate that the tragedy took place at 13:20:03 GMT, Utes-T last registered the aircraft at 13:20:01.87, less than in a second and a half before the disaster, the Russian . . . (Brief Update)

Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 07/05/2017 / DONi News / July 5, 2017 / Over the past 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed 26 ceasefire violations. In the Donetsk direction, the enemy targeted ten localities with 14 tank rounds, eight mortar shells of 120mm calibre and three 82mm ones. In the Gorlovka direction, the area of Zaitsevo locality was shelled with the AFU grenade launchers and small arms. In the Mariupol direction, the enemy applied grenade launchers and small arms against two localities. Our reconnaissance keeps registering the concentration of weapons banned by the Minsk agreements along the contact line: – Near Krasnogorovka (3 km to the contact line) there were detected three motorised artillery mounts Gvozdika; – Near Maryinka (1 km to the contact line) there was detected the arrival of a unit of female snipers – 20 personnel of a Polish private military company. All the data on deployment of the prohibited AFU equipment were passed to representatives of the OSCE SMM. Our reconnaissance received confirmation of the AFU Command’s preparation for serious provocations on the eve of the G20 leaders’ meeting what I had previously voiced, including shelling of residential areas, terrorist attacks on localities and attempts to seize a part of the grey zone territory. In particular, on July 3, scouts of the DPR Armed Forces stealthily lured a serviceman of the 128th separate mountain-infantry brigade into the grey zone, outside Pesky locality. The Ukrainian serviceman carried secret documents received that day at the headquarters of one of the interacting brigades, on application of arms prohibited by the Minsk agreements against the DPR territory from July 6, 2017. According to the plan of the ‘ATO’ command, forces and facilities of the 72nd separate mechanised brigade, 55th separate artillery brigade and part of the 128th separate mountain-infantry brigade that arrived for reinforcement from the Gorlovka direction are to participate in the provocation. The Ukrainian officer did not try any resistance during the detention and immediately began to give evidence. After we received secret documents from the AFU serviceman, the officer was released. The 128th brigade’s officer has a negative reputation among his command, therefore, he had no value for us. At that, I want to draw attention to the brutality of the Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group’s punishers, who in the same situation in the Lugansk direction mercilessly slaughtered two servicemen of the LPR People’s Militia and captured four. And now, by means of tortures and psychological pressure, they are trying to get false testimonies from them, forcing them to pretend to be, allegedly, active military personnel of the Russian army. The extreme brutality of the Ukrainian fighters’ actions struck the whole world then! Due to the enemy’s stepping up preparation for carrying out terrorist acts in the DPR territory, as well as bloody provocations with shelling civil localities, including in the Kiev-controlled areas, we urge the world community to exert pressure on the Ukrainian authorities and force them into giving up war crimes agenda. —Vice-Commander of the DPR People’s Militia, Colonel Eduard Basurin, official translation by DONi News Agency

Secret agreements: It was stated In the DPR that the Donbass Republics will soon be part of the Russian Federation / Dnr24.su / Translated by Quemado Institute / July 5, 2017 / Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics will be fully incorporated into the Russian Federation in the near future. This was stated by the deputy of parliament of the Donetsk People’s Republic [DPR], the commander of the “Legion” division, Sergei Zavdoev. In his opinion, the Russian Federation will not allow Kiev to realize a “Croatian scenario” in Donbass. “I think that no one is rushing to Russia. The LPR and DPR exist and so does Russia. Now we are legally integrating into Russia. And after the elections next year we will have full integration into the Russian Federation. Over the last three years a lot of work has been done, both at the political level, and at the military and economic levels. Therefore, we will absolutely be part of the Russian Federation and it will support us 100%,” Zavdoevyev said. A deputy of the DPR noted that if the Ukrainian security forces go on the offensive, then, as usual, Russia will help with humanitarian aid and medicines, as it has helped until now, but it will not get involved in the conflict itself. “If Ukraine crosses this rubicon, it thereby completely liquidates all agreements. There is an unofficial agreement between the United States, Europe and Russia about who will first go on the offensive [tr?], it and the aggressor [tr?], it is to blame for this war. Accordingly, if the Ukrainian Armed Forces [UAF] decide on an offensive, then they will deploy the same America and Europe against themselves [tr?] and give us the opportunity to act openly,” the MP said, adding that the LDPR [DPR/LPR] army will have enough strength to repel the attack of the UAF. According to Zavdeev, the Donbass militia will be only too happy about the UAF’s offensive, as this will allow them to end the war, which has already lasted more than 3 years. “You understand that we have here a ‘valiant’ OSCE, which still can not determine who is shooting at whom. They have for all of three years reported as if someone shoots, but who is shooting whom is unclear. Everybody sees that it is the UAF that shoots, except for the OSCE, which must only record [tr?]. They fix the fact of the bombardment, but about who shoots the OSCE has never once reported,” Zavdoveev assures us. He believes that if they had noted at least once in the OSCE reports that it was the Ukrainian side that was shooting, the militias would have been able to speak to Ukraine long ago.

Terrorist attack organized by Ukrainian special services prevented in Donetsk / DONi News / July 4, 2017 / The special services of the Donetsk People’s Republic today prevented a terrorist act organized by Ukrainian saboteurs. This was stated by the Vice-Commander of the Republican Operational Command, Eduard Basurin. “Today, thanks to the vigilance of our citizens, a terrorist act of Ukrainian special services has been prevented in the city of Donetsk. At 9 o’clock in the morning local residents found a bomb with remote control on the street of Shchorsa in the residential sector, near the Food College. At the moment, the explosive device was defused,” said the Vice-Commander. Presumably, the explosive device was go off today in the morning. Basurin noted that the terrorist attack has been planned to be executed on the eve of the Minsk talks on July 5 and on the eve of the meeting of the G20 leaders. “According to our reconnaissance, this is not the only terrorist attack planned by Ukrainian intelligence services on the eve of the G20 meeting. We have confirmation that the Ukrainian authorities are instructed to conduct bloody provocations in the period until July 9, including on the territories controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces that have the goal of discrediting the leadership of the DPR,” he pointed out.

American “volunteers” spotted in Ukrainian-occupied Donbass / By Eduard Popov; Translated by J. Arnoldski / Fort Russ / July 5, 2017 / Although one of the provisions of the Minsk Agreements is the withdrawal of all foreign military entities from Donbass, Ukraine and its Western allies headed by the US continue to relentlessly allege a Russian military presence in the region. For its part, Russia has denied such allegations, responding that it is an observer country to the same extent that the other countries that signed the Minsk Agreements are, i.e., Germany and France. However, reports periodically come from Donbass which allow us to take a fresh, sober look at the real situation on the ground there. Just recently in conversation with Donbass militia volunteers, I repeatedly heard accounts of Western troops present in the ranks of the Ukrainian army in the capacity of instructors or as active fighters. Meanwhile, the Americans and Canadians do not hide the fact that they are training the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ units (such as at the Yavoriv polygon in the Lvov region), but they categorically refuse to admit that their servicemen (usually from commando units) are present at the frontline and fighting on the side of the UAF. On the other hand, my friends from the DPR army have reported that they have especially often observed Canadian and Polish troops present at the frontline. Fresh information just arrived the other day from the Lugansk People’s Republic. The LPR’s Ministry of Internal Affairs’ hotline received a call from a resident of the town of Popasnaya (under Ukrainian control), who said that English-speaking, foreign troops have appeared in the town. The caller described them as dressed in white and grey NATO camouflage and armed with foreign small arms. LPR intelligence sources have since released the following report: “According to preliminary findings, the unknown troops in question are US citizens and call themselves American volunteers. They have brought with them some kind of electronic equipment stored in metal boxes and suitcases. At the present moment, these mercenaries are awaiting the arrival of voltage converters since their hardware is not designed to work with 220 voltage networks.” While accusing Russia of meddling in the conflict in Donbass, the Americans, Canadians, and their European NATO allies are directly involved in the conflict, specializing in training the UAF in sabotage and terroristic warfare, as well as electronic intelligence and radio-electronic warfare. The UAF does not wield such expertise and equipment in the likes of what the American army and NATO countries’ armies boast – and which has now apparently surfaced in Donbass.

Polish Detachment of Women Snipers Arrives in Donbass / Ukraina.ru / Translated by Quemado Institute / July 5, 2017 / The intelligence of the Donetsk People’s Republic [DPR] recorded the arrival of a group of snipers from Poland in the suburbs of Donetsk, Eduard Basurin, deputy commander of the DPR operational command, told journalists. “The arrival of a women’s sniper unit of 20 people from the private military company of Poland was noted in the area of the settlement of Maryinka (suburb of Donetsk),” said Basurin. Earlier, he said that the DPR Ministry of Defense had learned of the arrival of a group of snipers from Georgia [tr?] at the Donbas contact line. He added that the intelligence service of the Donetsk People’s Republic received secret documents that indicate Ukrainian security officials are preparing provocations in Donbass. In March, the “Right Sector” unit (an extremist organization banned on the territory of the Russian Federation – Ukraina.ru Ed) “Witches” arrived at the contact line in Donbass. This was reported by the intelligence of the DPR. The unit consists of women snipers. In April, the Ukrainian security forces also transferred an “Islamic battalion” of up to 500 people to Kiev-controlled Mariupol.

[Enemy Report:] Dutch court to try suspects in downing of MH17 airliner over Ukraine / By Daniel McLaughlin / Irish Times / July 5, 2017 / [Quemado Institute Editor’s note: Items marked * are considered false, fabricated, biased or misleading by Quemado Institute and many Donbass observers.] / A Dutch court will try those suspected of involvement in shooting down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over separatist-held eastern Ukraine almost three years ago, the Netherlands announced on Wednesday. Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko welcomed the decision and pledged his country’s full support for the Dutch prosecution, which came about after Russia vetoed efforts to create an international tribunal through the United Nations. The Boeing 777 flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was blown out of the sky close to Ukraine’s eastern border with Russia on July 17th 2014, over territory that had been seized and is still controlled by heavily armed Kremlin-backed militia*. All 298 people on board were killed as they and debris from the plane were scattered across several kilometres of fields and villages. The victims came from 17 countries but most – 196 people – were citizens of the Netherlands. The Dutch safety board found in 2015 that the airliner was brought down by a Russian-made surface-to-air Buk missile*, and last year a joint investigation team (JIT) comprising experts from the Netherlands, Malaysia, Australia, Belgium and Ukraine concluded that the rocket was fired from separatist-held territory*. Russia disputes those findings and accuses the JIT of ignoring evidence in their determination to blame Moscow for the tragedy. “The JIT countries have now decided that the suspects should be prosecuted in the Netherlands, a process that will be rooted in ongoing international co-operation and support,” said Dutch foreign minister Bert Koenders. “We’re still seeing a great deal of disinformation and attempts to discredit the investigation. Nevertheless, major results have been achieved,” he added, in reference to the reports by the Dutch safety board and JIT. “What’s more, the ongoing criminal investigation enjoys virtually unanimous support from the international community. MH17 has shown how a shared tragedy can lead to close international co-operation and a determination to see that justice is done.” Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte said the decision to hold a trial in the Netherlands was the “next step on the way to uncover the truth, the prosecution of suspects and satisfaction for the bereaved. That remains the highest priority for the Dutch government.” In the hours and days after the disaster, Russian media broadcast bizarre conspiracy theories about MH17*, including speculation that Ukraine had targeted the airliner thinking it was Vladimir Putin’s presidential jet; that it was a spy plane; and that it was filled with dead bodies and crashed intentionally to discredit Russia and its separatist proxies*. The Russian defence ministry released what it claimed was satellite imagery showing a Ukrainian fighter jet firing a missile at the airliner – but this was quickly debunked as a crude fake and Moscow dropped that line of argument*. On the other hand, the Bellingcat investigative team has used images posted on social media and geolocation tools to track in detail the Buk’s alleged journey from Russia to eastern Ukraine and back again*. They have also identified the Russian soldiers who they believe brought the missile system into Ukraine*. No suspects have yet been named officially in the case. [Source: irishtimes.com/news/world/europe/dutch-court-to-try-suspects-in-downing-of-mh17-airliner-over-ukraine-1.3144347] Quemado Institute comments: This article represents typical anti-Donbass MH17 propaganda of the type we have seen posted repeatedly on Twitter since the day of the tragedy, when enemy factions began fabricating pieces of their story alleging BUK missile involvement. According to air traffic controller Carlos @Spainbuca’s Twitter feed,, tweeted concurrently with the crash, personnel in the control tower announced within minutes that the “official story” was a BUK missile shoot-down, We believe this is a cover-up. More likely the Malaysian Boeing was downed by one or more Ukrainian fighter jets, a scenario consistent with eye-witness accounts as well as evidence found in the crash debris. The Dutch Safety Board investigation offers no proof of BUK missile involvement. For a paragraph by paragraph analysis of their report, see our post Quemado Institute Rebuttal: MH17 Dutch Investigation Weak, Inconclusive (Oct 16, 2015). Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 07/04/2017 / DONi News / July 4, 2017 / Over the past 24 hours the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed twenty-three ceasefire violations. In the Donetsk direction the enemy launched five mortar-shells of 120mm caliber and 36 mortar-shells of 82mm caliber onto the territories of 11 localities. As a result of shellings on the part of the AFU, a house in the locality of Gorlovka, on Otboinaya Street, 3 sustained damages – a roof and windows were damaged. Representatives of a special commission are working on the site to assess damages received by the Republic’s residents as a result of the shelling conducted from the positions of the AFU. Materials of which will be appended to criminal cases against a command and servicemen of Ukrainian armed forces. Our intelligence keeps registering concentration of prohibited by the Minsk agreements military hardware along the contact line. Thus, in the vicinity of the localities of: SUKHAYA BALKA (13km away from the contact line) there was detected ammunition advance (of 122, 125 and 152mm caliber) to resupply units from among the military personnel of the 128th brigade; YASNOBRODOVKA (14km away from the contact line) there was detected location of five tanks; ZHELANNOYE-PERVOYE (14 km away from the contact line) there was detected a howitzer battery ‘Giatsint-B’ of the 55th brigade. All the data on rotation of the prohibited military hardware of the AFU were handed over to the OSCE SMM. Today, an act of terrorism of Ukrainian special forces in Donetsk City has been prevented thanks to vigilance of our citizens. In particular, at nine o’clock in the morning local residents discovered an explosive device with an off-site control near a food college in a residential area on Shchorsa Street. At present, the explosive device has been defused. Presumedly, it was to operate in the morning, at the time when residents go to work, shops, take their children to kindergartens, students go to universities. It should be noted that Ukraine’s special forces planned this act of terrorism on the Minsk talks’ eve and in advance of a meeting of G20 Leaders. According to our intelligence, it is not the only act of terrorism planned by Ukraine’s special forces on the G20 meeting’s eve. We have a confirmation that Ukraine’s authorities were given orders to commit bloody provocations during . . . READ MORE>>

Blast Site near Prishib, April 2017 (–Sputnik/LPR militia)

Saboteur who sought to blast OSCE car could be involved in Prishib terrorist attack – MGB / Lugansk Media Center / July 4, 2017 / One of the Ukrainian saboteurs who plotted a terrorist attack against the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission representatives could be involved in the blasting of the international observer’s cars in Prishib village area in April, LPR State Security Ministry (MGB) head Leonid Pasechnik said on Tuesday. Earlier on Tuesday, Pasechnik said MGB officers had defused a mine planted along the route of SMM patrols by Ukrainian saboteurs operating in Lugansk. The minister said MGB investigators found a car with Ukrainian Vinnitsa Region license plates in a wooded area in Lugansk’s Kamennobrodskiy district on 30 June. “A search of the car found pieces of Ukrainian insignia and a dashcam that had been put out of order. “MGB specialists managed to restore the data. The dashcam information shows preparations to assassinate OSCE monitoring mission representatives,” Pasechnik said. “Supposedly, one of the Ukrainian operatives who appears in the dashcam video is involved in the blasting of the observers’ car in Prishib village in LPR’s Slavyanoserbskiy district on 23 April 2017,” he said. “I wish to remind that MGB opened criminal investigation into the blasting of the OSCE car and that an investigation is underway. MGB repeatedly requested the OSCE monitoring mission to provide information which was relevant for preliminary investigation and summoned witnesses to give evidence. However, no response to MGB enquiries has been given up to date which hampers progress in investigation,” the minister added. “I again urge the international representatives working in the Republic to coordinate the routes of their movement with LPR law-enforcement bodies for their own safety. The latest events show that Ukrainian secret services are ready for any provocations aimed at destabilizing the situation in the republic and discrediting law-enforcement and government bodies with the view of securing the deployment of OSCE armed monitoring mission,” Pasechnik said. An OSCE Special Monitoring Mission car en route from Slavyanoserbsk to Sokolniki hit an anti-tank mine in the vicinity of LPR’s Prishib village killing one monitor and wounding another two on 23 April. LPR People’s Militia and Security Ministry said that they had repeatedly recorded activities of Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance squads in Prishib area. LPR Prosecutor general’s Office said Ukrainian army 8th special operations regiment servicemen were suspected of involvement in the OSCE car explosion.

Terror attack organized by Kiev-backed saboteurs foiled in Donetsk / TASS / July 4, 2017 / DONETSK / .Intelligence agencies of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) prevented a terror attack organized by Ukraine’s saboteurs on Tuesday, Deputy Commander of LPR Operational Forces, Eduard Basurin, said. “Today, thanks to the vigilance of our residents, a terrorist act by Ukraine’s intelligence services has been thwarted in Donetsk. At 9:00 (a.m.), local residents found a remote-controlled explosive device in a residential sector near a food industry academy. At present, the explosive device has been defused,” the Donetsk News Agency quoted him as saying. Earlier this day, the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) also reported that the LPR’s State Security Ministry employees had defused a mine laid along the driving route of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission. According to the republic’s Defense Ministry, a group of Ukrainian saboteurs had been operating in Lugansk.

Latest from the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM), based on information received as of 19:30, 3 July 2017 / OSCE.org / July 4, 2017 / The SMM recorded fewer ceasefire violations in Donetsk region and more in Luhansk region compared with the previous 24 hours. The Mission followed up on reports of a civilian casualty in Marinka and observed damage to civilian properties due to shelling in Uzhivka. The Mission continued monitoring the disengagement areas; it recorded ceasefire violations near Stanytsia Luhanska area. The SMM’s access remained restricted there and elsewhere, including again to a border area not controlled by the Government in Novoazovsk.* The Mission monitored weapons on both sides of the contact line. It continued to follow up on the water and gas supply situation in Avdiivka and Yasynuvata and to facilitate and monitor repairs to the Mykhailivka-Almazna high-voltage power lines. The SMM visited one border area not under government control in Luhansk region. In Donetsk region the SMM recorded fewer ceasefire violations[1], including, however, more explosions (about 150), compared with the previous 24 hours (about 80 explosions). On the evening and night of 2-3 July, while in “DPR”-controlled Donetsk city centre, the SMM heard 26 undetermined explosions 8-10km north-west. On the evening and night of 2-3 July the SMM camera in government-controlled Avdiivka (17km north of Donetsk) recorded, in sequence, 20 explosions assessed as impacts of rounds of undetermined weapons, two projectiles in flight from east to west, one explosion assessed as an impact, two illumination flares in vertical flight and four tracer rounds and two projectiles in flight from west to east, all 3-4km east-south-east. Approximately three hours later, the same camera recorded four tracer rounds in flight from west to east 4-6km east-north-east, followed by one projectile in flight from west to east and two explosions assessed as impacts 4-5km east-south-east. The following day, positioned in Avdiivka for about five hours, the SMM heard one undetermined explosion about 5km south-east and five undetermined explosions about 2km east-north-east and east. On 3 July, positioned in “DPR”-controlled . . . READ MORE>> (Substantial report at source.)

Lavrov didn’t say: ‘Russia involved in war in Donbass’ as western media claim / DONi News (Editorial) / July 4, 2017 / Western anti-Russian media are publishing pure fake news based on Russian Foreign Minister statement, claiming that Sergey Lavrov “finally admitted that Russia is involved in the war in Donbass – militarily”. In the reality, these news have no ground, because their claims are based on intrerpretation of a translation mistake, and besides of that, his words are taken out from the context. Here is the mistakenly translated Sergey Lavrov’s statement: “I don’t know whether the political community thinks that we are playing in the wrong league. I have read and heard much criticism regarding our decision to join the fight in Donbass and in Syria. But you should probably look at each given nation comprehensively.” Here is the correct translation: “I don’t know whether the political community thinks that we are playing in the wrong league. I have read and heard much criticism that we should not have got involved into the conflicts in Donbass and in Syria. But you should probably look at each given nation comprehensively.” The scandal around Lavrov’s speech was caused just by a matter of mistranslation. As we can see it now, the official web-site of the Russian Foreign Minister has replaced that shaky phrase with a more appropriate translation totally corresponding to the Minister’s speech. Mr Lavrov said the word “conflict” which in no way presupposes “joining the fight” or any other assistance of military nature. Yes, Russia accepts the idea of having joined the Donbass CONFLICT in the political and humanitarian field, but those accusations, which have arisen due to this translator’s failure are just groundless, as NO adequate evidence of the Russian military involvement in the Donbass war has EVER been presented by the western opponents, any international organizations, like UN or OSCE. Comment – Russia and its factual involvement in the Donbass conflict: As the Foreign Minister of Russian Federation, top diplomat . . .

1. We believe, that the «Chuguev’s» documents and witnesses’ revelations are the necessary puzzle, that will help restore the tragic events of July 17, 2014. The day, when the «Boeing» was shot down. On that day, when at 13:20:03 UTC or 16:21:28 local time, the recording of the flight . . . READ MORE>>

Russian and US Presidents to Meet at G20 Summit: Chance not to Miss / By Andrei Akulov / Strategic Culture Foundation / July 2, 2017 / Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will meet at the G-20 summit that brings together the leaders of major industrialized countries on July 7-8. The event has been eagerly anticipated for months. It’s not known how the meeting will be arranged, but it will take place and that’s what really matters. Everyone knows President Trump is in a precarious situation because of «Russia links» attacks and multi-pronged investigations into his campaign’s relationship with Moscow but missing the opportunity would hardly correspond to US national interests. There is no specific agenda but something must be done immediately to revive the dialogue on arms control and none-proliferation. The New START deal is going to expire on February 5, 2021 with nothing in sight to replace it. No talks have been launched as yet. The fate of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty is questioned with both sides accusing each other of breaching the document. It would be right if the presidents gave orders to launch . . . READ MORE>>

Trump-Putin’s Moment of Truth / By Finian Cunningham / Stratetic Culture Foundation / July 2, 2017 / The forthcoming meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit has got to be the most anticipated political moment of the year. The handshake, smiles, body language and words will all be scrutinized to parse significance in the encounter between the leaders of the world’s two superpowers. Sections of the American media will no doubt be looking for secret signals between «agent Trump» and the former «KGB spy Putin» to confirm their suspicions it was the Kremlin that orchestrated the US presidential election to get Trump into the White House. That spy-thriller narrative has been running non-stop in prominent US news outlets – and yet six months after Trump’s inauguration not even a single bit of hard evidence has emerged to support the allegations of collusion. It’s a spy fantasy that has taken on a life of its own, which even the CNN channel – one of the biggest purveyors of the Trump-Russia trope – has recently been caught out disclosing quietly that it’s a «nothing burger». Nonetheless, on a more serious level, the meeting between Trump and Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit next weekend will have a «moment of truth» quality. It’s their first encounter, although the two leaders have held at least two phone conversations in the past six months. Confirming that the Trump-Putin one-on-one is scheduled during the Hamburg summit, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said that the meeting . . . READ MORE>>

Alexander Zakharchenko

Q&A session with the Head of Donetsk People’s Republic to be held on June 28 / DONi News / June 25, 2017 / The live television question-and-answer session of the DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko with residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic living on both sides of the demarcation line will begin on Wednesday, June 28, at 7:00 pm. The conversation will be broadcast live over all the TV channels of the Republic. An internet broadcast is also envisaged. Alexander Zakharchenko will answer questions that will come in video, audio and text formats. “During the previous question-and-answer sessions, I made sure that the majority of our residents on both sides of our western border had the same questions. This once again confirms the fact that the people of Donbass are united. Therefore, we decided not to separate our communication between inhabitants of the territories under our control and those territories of the Donetsk People’s Republic controlled by Ukraine. Of course, this does not concern specific issues that arise in our residents’ everyday life. As for the residents of Donbass who are on the other side, we will once again discuss our Humanitarian Programme for the Reunification of the Donbass People. Let me remind you that our strategic task is to reunite the people of Donbass and, consequently, to restore the DPR’s control over the entire territory of the former Donetsk region. Dear compatriots on both sides of the demarcation line, I propose to talk about our problems and our plans in a live broadcast. I will try to honestly respond to those questions that actually have an answer.” —Alexander Zakharchenko

Ukraine fails to show draft law on Donbass reintegration to Minsk Contact Group / DONi News / June 25, 2017 / Ukraine has failed to show the draft law it said it had been developing to reintegrate Donbass, at the Contact Group meeting, said the LPR envoy to the Minsk negotiations Vladislav Deinego. “We were confused by Ukraine’s media reports on the reintegration draft law to be presented to the Contact Group. It was mentioned (at the meeting) and we critisized these efforts to supersede Minsk talks and the work within this format with some draft law taking lead in the press, but not discussed with Donbass representatives,” said Deinego. “We emphasized, that any attempt to consider laws not coordinated with the Contact Group, would be treated as Ukraine’s attempts to withdraw from the Minsk format.” Ukrainian lawmakers plan to hold first reading of the draft law on Donbass reintegration prepared following president Petr Poroshenko’s order, who said the document was to provide measures to re-establish Donbass within Ukraine and to define its legal status. Some MPs said the draft law introduced martial law in the so-called ‘Anti-Terrorist Operation’ zone and gave control over the military to a committee led by the president. “Articles 9 and 11 of the Minsk Agreements clearly say that all the issues of the Donbass conflict settlement, including the special status of the region, decentralization, constitutional reform, amnesty, all these issues should be coordinated with Donbass representatives,” Deinego said earlier.

Ukrainian Security Forces (SBU) Draw Grads to Contact Line / Tvzvezda.ru / Translated by Quemado Institute / About 50 American and Canadian instructors arrived at Konstantinovka. / June 25, 2017 / A trainload with personnel and heavy armament of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including the ML-21 Grad missile system, arrived in the area of the village of Vladimirovka, south of Donetsk. This was announced by Eduard Basurin, deputy commander of the operational command of the Donetsk People’s Republic. The Ukrainians used the “grain truce” [agreed ceasefire during harvest time] in Donbass to regroup their forces and assets in the conflict zone, reports Basurin. “The existing situation on the contact line allows us to conclude that under the cover of the ‘grain truce’, Ukrainian security forces are strengthening the units in the Donetsk and Mariupol directions, dispersing the prohibited weapons,” said Basurin. According to him, a railway train with personnel and heavy weapons, including the BM-21 Grad issile system, arrived in the area of the village of Vladimirovka to the south of Donetsk. In addition, at Volnovaka, militiamen recorded three railroad freight cars with ammunition for tanks, as well as shells for MLRS and shells and powder charges for 122 and 152-mm barrel artillery. Towards Avdeevka, a column of 28 tanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is moving. And in the city itself is the Ukrainian battalion of “Kharkov”. About 50 American and Canadian instructors also arrived at Konstantinovka. According to the intelligence of the DPR, these foreign specialists plan to start work in Mariupol.

Baltic Snipers Arrive in Kiev-held Donbass / Novorossia Today / June 25, 2017 / Snipers from the Baltic countries arrived in the Kiev-controlled territories of Donbass. The LPR Ministry of internal Affairs (MIA) explained where exactly foreign mercenaries were quartered. The information about women snipers from the Baltic countries, who arrived in the Kiev-controlled territories of the LPR, came to the department from an employee of one of the regional departments of the so-called “State Institution of the National Police of Ukraine in the Lugansk region”. The man called the hotline of the LPR MIA and said that in the village of Valuyskoye, a unit of female snipers arrived. All the women are citizens of the Baltic countries and live in the same house in the area of Pogorelovka. The house is separated from the others and has a convenient access to the contact line through a forest belt. The LPR Ministry of Internal Affairs checked the information received through its channels, and the data on the presence of foreign mercenaries in Pogorelovka were confirmed. The data are being prepared for a transfer to international organizations.

British Army Helping Ukraine Kill Civilians in Donbass / By Graham Phillips / The Truth Speaker / June 24, 2017 / Everyone who follows the situation in Ukraine objectively knows exactly what’s happening. Ukrainian forces, comprised of radicals, and extremists, are shelling civilian areas of Donbass, causing mass civilian death, because Donbass didn’t accept the illegitimate regime imposed on Ukraine after Euromaidan. I cover that as a journalist, and I speak here as a proud Briton. What a shock to see our country not only support this, but trumpet it. n the first case, I feel for the civilians of Donbass who are still under daily shelling by Ukrainian forces – trained by British. In the second, I feel for my countrymen, normal British soldiers, forced to take part in something that will bring them shame for the rest of their lives. A disgrace for our armed forces, a disgrace for our country. [Video “1000 Days of War in Donbass (18+)” available at source.]

Russel “Texas” Bentley (–Essence of Time)

The OSCE and the Anatomy of a Disinfo Campaign / By Russel “Texas” Bentley / Russeltexasbentley.com / June 24, 2017 / What if I told you, with a straight face, “I went to a party with A. Hug of the OSCE at the Park Inn in Donetsk last night. Elvis Presley was there too, along with Hitler and a few UFO aliens. Great party, you should have been there. No, really, it’s true.” So, of course, you ask me – Photos? No. Video? No. Other witnesses? No. ANY physical evidence WHATSOEVER? No. ANY EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER? No. Or, to quote A. Hug, “The evidence is in the report.” Do you believe that? I hope not. So when a report about a “violent attack” against OSCE was published, by the OSCE, we should ask them the same questions, and MORE questions. Because exactly zero evidence has been been presented by OSCE to show ANY of this ever even happened. And yet, in 36 hours… Over 1,000 MSM websites have the story – the one about the violent attack, with zero evidence. And right now it is getting blown up. US State Dep’t made a statement about the specific incident, and a video. This story will be in the news cycle for days, and referenced as fact from now on, and it’s 100% bullshit. Nothing to it. Everybody in Yasynuvata hears shooting and shelling pretty much every day. OSCE says they got shot at, but no bullet holes in any of the vehicles. They say the bulletproof window of one vehicle got “struck” by a riflebutt, but they don’t show the vehicle at the news conference or even photos of the vehicle. Or even at the second news conference OSCE held today. Nada. There are about 700 OSCE agents in Donbass today. Their budget is 100 million Euros a year. Think about that. One hundred and eleven MILLION dollars. Per year. For 700 agents in Donbass. One hundred and eleven. Million. US dollars. Every year. The OSCE is not here to help the ukrops, they are here to help themselves. The OSCE is spying on us and on the ukrops. Eduard Basurin (–DONi News)

Donetsk Defense: Weekly Situation Report, 06/23/2017 / DONi News / June 23, 2017 / READ FULL REPORT>> / EXCERPTS: Good day! … Over the past 24 hours, there were registered 35 occasions of ceasefire violations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The enemy targeted the Republic’s territory with four artillery projectiles of 152mm and 122mm calibres, 165 mortar shells of 120mm and 82mm calibres, and 17 tank rounds. In total, over the past week the enemy committed 328 violations of the ceasefire regime and fired 2,840 rockets, artillery projectiles, tank rounds and mortar shells at the territory of the Republic. The Armed Forces of Ukraine subjected 34 Republic’s localities to shellings, 46 residential buildings sustained damages in 12 of them. Along with that, power supply was disrupted in the localities of Donetsk-Severny, Kashtanovoye, Krasny Partizan, Kominternovo, Zaichenko, Novotavriya, and Dzerzhinsk. … Unfortunately, over the past week, there were registered casualties among the Republic’s civilian population and the DPR military personnel. Two civilians were killed in the AFU shellings. In addition to that, two servicemen were killed and one was severely wounded when defending the Republic. … On June 20, during the visit of the OSCE to Ukraine Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug to the Donetsk People’s Republic and on the eve of another meeting of the security contact groups in Minsk, Ukrainian special services carried out a cynical provocation against international observers with involvement of the Republic’s citizens, recruited by the SBU under the “Come Home” programme. The day before the Minsk negotiations, the Security Services’ recruits performed a provocation, shooting near the international observers’ cars. … This week, the Ukrainian party made attempts to provoke our units into retaliatory actions by targeted bombardments of the Republican localities’ residential areas. Despite this, the DPR Armed Forces did not respond to the provocations. As a result of a thorough analysis of photographic materials on the Berdyanskoye locality’s shelling, it was established that the enemy also shelled its own territories. Thus, in the photos of the ‘ATO’ headquarters’ press center, there are craters caused by 82mm mortar shells’ detonation, which, according to the AFU version, had allegedly been launched by the DPR Armed Forces’ units. However, all the DPR mortars are in withdrawal places, which is confirmed by the OSCE Mission’s observers. In addition, the range of mortar fire does not provide for shells to reach Berdyanskoye locality from our positions. It is too far from the contact line. … On June 19, in Sergeyevka village of the Pokrovsky district, a group of radical Ukrainian nationalists blasted the electrical substation feeding the locality and the railway station with power. Sacrificing their own population, the radicals sought to stop the railway communication on this branch line. Thus, they were willing to demonstrate to the Ukrainian authorities that they were not interested in restoring economic ties with the Republics, and, at that, were ready to resort to terrorist methods to support the Donbass blockade. … –Vice-Commander of the DPR People’s Militia, Colonel Eduard Basurin, official translation by DONi News Agency . . . Full Report from LPR High Command Lt. Col Andrey Marochko / Novorossia Today / June 23, 2017 / Nazi Kiev forces continue to shell civilian areas of Lugansk Republic as well as LPR People’s Army positions six times over the past 24 hours, the Republic’s defense authorities said. … / The situation in the zone of responsibility of the LPR People’s Army has not changed and remains tense. Over the past day, the enemy violated the ceasefire 6 times. Kalinovo township, Zheltoye, Smeloye and Zhelobok villages and Prince Igor monument area were targeted with 120mm and 82mm mortar, infantry fighting vehicle cannons and recoilless guns (SPG). There were shelled the positions of our units in the areas of the localities Kalinovo, Kalinovka, Oboznoye, Sokolniki and Zhelobok. The Nazi Armed Forces of Ukraine used in the shelling prohibited by the Minsk Agreements 82 and 120mm mortars, grenade launchers of various types and small arms. In total, on the territory of the Republic there were launched 169 shells. The aggressive intentions of the enemy are confirmed by the fact of detection of firing positions of a 82mm mortar in the zone of responsibility of the 14th brigade of the Nazi Ukraine Military (AFU) , 1.5 km south of the locality of Stary Aydar, which provocatively shells our positions almost daily. The locality of Schastyeis also shelled from these positions. I would like to ask the OSCE SMM representatives not to disregard the information about the shelling of the People’s Army positions and the Kiev-controlled localities. I would like to remind you that in its report, the SMM purposefully did not indicate the direction of the shelling of the locality of Schastye, since the shelling was obviously conducted from the Nazi Ukrainian side, and it was possible to see it with the naked eye. This is also confirmed by the local residents. You can determine the direction of the shelling by the shank of the mortar shell stuck in the asphalt. The OSCE observers know this. The Ukrainian military criminal authorities do not intend to comply with the agreements reached to maintain the ceasefire, and are doing everything possible to further escalate the conflict in the Donbass Region (Formerly southeast of Ukraine). We adhere to the Ceasefire silence regime and observe the Minsk Agreements. Our actions are aimed at resolving the conflict in Donbass peacefully, but in the event of an aggravation of the situation, the LPR People’s Army reserves the right to take decisive actions in order to free the territories seized by the Kiev bandits. —Official representative of the LPR People’s Army,Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Marochko

Lavrov blasts Kiev’s attempts to gain control over Donbass / TASS / June 23, 2017 / Kiev’s attempts to gain control over Donbass before implementing the political provisions of the Minsk Agreements are unlawful as they run contrary to the accords, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the Belarusian media on the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Belarus. “These attempts are unlawful because the Minsk Agreements have been approved by the United Nations Security Council,” the Russian top diplomat pointed out. “They stipulate that the political provisions concerning the amnesty, the special status of Donbass enshrined in the country’s constitution and elections to be held under the OSCE’s control should be implemented before Kiev gains full control over the region,” Lavrov explained. The Russian foreign minister stressed that “the special status, amnesty and elections are meant to guarantee that the will of the people living in the region will be taken into account.” According to Lavrov, “if these political reforms are not implemented, then it will be impossible to ensure the security of the people who currently head some of the areas in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and who led the . . . [Enemy Report:] Donbas reintegration bill won’t affect Minsk process – Ukraine’s foreign ministry / Unian / June 23, 2017 / Ukraine’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko forecasts that the bill on Donbas reintegration, which should determine the ways to restore Ukraine’s sovereignty in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, will not affect the Minsk peace talks. “I have heard about three different versions of the same [bill] with different names and different concepts. I do not directly link the draft law on reintegration, de-occupation … with the intensification of talks in the Minsk format,” Prystaiko told journalists. He recalled that the Minsk format had been operating for almost three years. “We are trying to settle [the Donbas crisis], using means of diplomacy. The bill says what we are stating about our approaches to how we will address the issue of our east,” the diplomat said. As UNIAN reported earlier, Chairman of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction Artur Herasimov said that the provisions of the bill on Donbas reintegration would soon be offered to the public for debate. Andriy Parubiy, Ukrainian speaker of Parliament announces US troops will deploy in Donbass / Co-op News (Co-op Anti-war Cafe Berlin) / June 23, 2017 / Andriy Parubiy, the Ukrainian speaker of Parliament, has announced on the air during a broadcast of the program “Freedom of Speech” on Kiev television.that Ukraine has an agreement with the United States of America to deploy combat troops to “assist” their martial law operation or reintegration of Donbass plan. A security agreement with the United States has been signed that provides for the deployment of US military forces on the territory of Ukraine, as stated by the head of the Verkhovna Rada. “The agreement envisages special operations, joint scientific and technical developments, and even the deployment of military troops from the United States of America in Ukraine,” he said. US forces are currently acting as advisers and operate on a secret basis in Donbass. The actual deployment of US forces as a backup force to Ukrainian units involved in martial law duties fighting in Donbass is a sharp, severe escalation of the Donbass conflict to a level not seen previously. Merkel Is Angry with America over Russia Sanctions but Will Do Nothing / By James George Jatras / Strategic Culture Foundation / June 23, 2017 / he tenure of Angela Merkel as Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany has been a disaster for her country and for Europe. That’s why it’s a refreshing change finally to have an issue where it is possible to agree with her. Merkel, along with other voices in Germany and Austria, has denounced a bill (S. 722) passed by the U.S. Senate to impose new sanctions on Russia and Iran. In particular, Merkel has observed, correctly, that the legislation, if adopted, would negatively impact oil and gas pipeline deals with Russia. She evidently objects that this would be a unilateral U.S. action that would harm the interests of Germany and other countries without even consulting them. As declared in a joint statement by German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel and Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern: «Europe’s energy supply is a matter for Europe, and not the United States of America!» (Wow! An exclamation point! From Teutonic officials! They must really be angry.) Further: «We cannot accept threatening European companies that contribute to the development of the European energy supply [system] with extraterritorial sanctions that violate international law!» (Another exclamation point! They must be really, really angry!) «Sanctions as a political instrument should not be linked to economic interests»… Threatening German, Austrian and other European enterprises, which take part in the gas supply projects such as the Nord Stream II together with Russia or finance them, with penalties on the US market would add an absolutely new and highly negative aspect in relations between the US and Europe». [JGJ: Oddly, Berlin didn’t seem quite so concerned about linking politics to economic interests when the interests were those of Italy, Greece, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, and other countries that would have benefitted from South Stream.] «This issue is all about the sales of the US condensed gas [to Europe] and pressing the Russian energy supply companies from the European market. The actual goal [of such sanctions] is to provide jobs for the US gas and oil industry.» [JGJ: You mean the U.S. may be exhibiting an element of export-oriented, pro-jobs mercantilism in its policy toward Europe? Surely, Germany never conducts trade relations on such a basis.] There’s no doubt that S. 722 – which passed the Senate by a vote of 98-2, with only Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders voting No – is a terrible piece of legislation. Its fundamental purpose is to tie President Trump’s hands so that he cannot exercise his constitutional authority to conduct relations with foreign states. Specifically, Senators of both parties want to ensure that he doesn’t have the ability to reach out and normalize ties with Moscow. To do that, a super-majority of Senators is willing to violate every . . . READ MORE>>

Russia-US Relations: Faint Light at the End of Tunnel / By Peter Korzun / Strategic Culture Foundation / June 20, 2017 / The US-Russian tensions have exacerbated after the American military shot down a Syrian warplane. In response, Russia said it was suspending a «de-confliction» communications channel used to avoid accidents in the air in Syria. «Any aircraft, including planes and drones belonging to the international coalition operating west of the Euphrates River will be tracked by Russian anti-aircraft forces in the sky and on the ground and treated as targets», the Russian Defense Ministry warned on June 19. It should be noted that the US-led coalition operates in Syria without neither an invitation of the Syrian government nor a UN resolution. On June 20, the US hit a Syrian drone and Russian jets intercepted a US reconnaissance plane in the Baltic Sea. These are just some recent events to illustrate the mounting tensions between the two states. It also happens at a time the US Congress is considering an anti-Russia bill, which would spoil the relations for many years if it becomes a law. Russia has begun to prepare its own punitive measures package in response. Does the US really need the sharp deterioration of relations with Russia at a time the list of challenges keeps growing? America faces stiff competition from China, the concept of «axis of evil» is revived again to include Iran and North Korea, Cuba is to be viewed as a hostile neighbor again etc. The exacerbation of Russia-US tensions takes place against the background of the arms control and non-proliferation regime being disintegrated. The crisis is looming large while the two powers fail to make progress. This is the first time there is no dialogue on arms control since the signing of the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty in 1963 – the event to launch the creation of international regime to limit and reduce the existing nuclear arsenals and prevent further proliferation of nuclear weapons. Indeed, the relations have never been so low since the days of the Cuban Crisis. But not all is doom and gloom as it seems to be. There is some light at the end of the tunnel. It’s dim and few people can see it at all but there is a glimmer of hope. State Secretary Rex Tillerson is working on a new plan – a classified document – to improve the relations with Moscow. The head of Foggy Bottom has taken it upon himself to . . . READ MORE>>

OSCE monitors in Ukraine (–bbc/file)

Spot Report by the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM): Armed man shoots at and violently attacks SMM in “DPR”-controlled Yasynuvata / OSCE.org / June 20, 2017 / On 20 June an SMM patrol (1) comprising two armoured vehicles and six members was stationary at an observation post at “DPR”-controlled Yasynuvata railway station (16km north-east of Donetsk), when it saw two men in military-style attire, one armed with an assault rifle (AK-type) walking in a western direction about 80m away. Another SMM patrol (2) comprising two armoured vehicles and six members was positioned about 150m west of the other patrol and about 100m from the two men. At 11:06, both patrols heard one burst of small-arms fire assessed as coming from the area of the two men. Then, the two men, both with their faces covered – one with a balaclava, the other with a scarf – moved towards SMM patrol (2) and began to aggressively shout at the SMM. They then left. At 11:10 both SMM patrols attempted to leave the area. As SMM patrol (2) began to leave, the armed man ran to the second vehicle, tried to open the door on the driver’s side and attempted to break the driver’s side window with his gunstock. Failing to do either, he then ran after the first vehicle from SMM patrol (2). Following this, the armed man turned and pointed his assault rifle at the driver and front-seat passenger of the second vehicle from SMM patrol (2). Both patrol members raised their hands in response. When the armed man moved to the side of the vehicle to try to open the front passenger-side door, the driver accelerated. As the SMM vehicle was driving away, the armed man hit the rear right-side window with his gunstock, causing minor damage. The SMM then saw him fire a burst of small-arms fire into the air, followed by three shots that the SMM assessed were fired at the patrol vehicle. The patrol vehicle was not hit. At 11:21, as all SMM patrol vehicles were leaving the area the SMM observed the armed man pointing his assault rifle at the SMM. The SMM returned safely to base in Donetsk city. The SMM informed the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination and asked it to follow up on the incident.

Kiev’s Donbass Plan: ‘Changing Blockade to a Full-Scale Military Operation’ / Sputnik / June 21, 2017 / The new Kiev-proposed plan on Donbass reintegration is in fact an attempt to replace the ongoing blockade with a full-scale military operation, a senior Russian official stated. / MINSK (Sputnik) / The Kiev-proposed draft law on reintegration of Donbass is an attempt to create an alternative to the Minsk agreements, instead of a political settlement, emphasis is placed on a military solution to the conflict, Russia’s envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine Boris Gryzlov said Wednesday after the group’s meeting. “According to available information, this bill being drafted in Kiev is aimed at creating a certain alternative to the UN-approved Minsk agreements” and “does not envision the fulfillment of the most important terms of the Minsk agreements, namely, the special status of Donbass, amnesty and holding of elections,” Gryzlov said. He added that the draft law did not stipulate a comprehensive political solution to the problem. “Obviously, this law is promoted by Ukraine’s ‘party of war’. It is a daring attempt to change the tactic of Donbass blockade to a full-scale military operation,” Gryzlov said. [More generic background at source.]

Ukrainian Rada’s bill on Donbass marking step away from reintegration, expert says / TASS / June 20, 2017 / MOSCOW / A bill on reintegration of Donbass, which Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada national parliament is developing now, will have an immediately opposite effect on the perception of people in the self-proclaimed unrecognized Donetsk and Lugansk republics, Alexei Chesnakov, the director of the Moscow-based Center for Current Political Assessments told TASS on Monday. “It’s scarcely possible to think that the latest initiatives of the Poroshenko Administration on reintegration of Donbass will be attractive for people in the Donetsk and Lugansk republics,” the expert said. “Much rather, they mark a step away from reintegration.” Poroshenko’s initiative is a reaction to the humanitarian program for reunification of Donbass the two republics introduced earlier. As part of it, they pay out benefits to veterans of Soviet veterans of World War II and invite the peopled living in the areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions under the pro-Kiev forces’ control to come and visit hospitals. “In recent months, the popularity of these programs on the territories under Kiev’s control has been growing,” Chesnakov said. Along with it, the bill the Rada is developing reflects Ukraine’s affinity for choosing the ways different from the political and diplomatic solutions that the Rada deputies speak about officially. “The forceful elements of the new law in what concerns replacement of the ‘antiterrorist operation’ with martial law testify to Kiev’s readiness to resolve the Donbass problem by force but any steps towards that solution will be considered as violation of the Minsk accords,” Chesnakov said. He also believes that a rebranding of the government’s armed punitive operation in Donbass will not help President Poroshenko in any significant way. “Poroshenko should either implement the Minsk II accords or admit his personal responsibility for non-compliance with them,” Chesnakov said.

Pentagon can supply Ukraine with lethal weapon / DONi News / June 21, 2017 / The official spokesman for the Pentagon, Jeff Davis, on Tuesday did not exclude the situation in which the United States can begin deliveries of lethal weapons to Ukraine. “We did not provide Ukraine with lethal defensive weapons in the past, but we do not rule out such a possibility in the future,” he told reporters. In early May, the Senate of the US Congress approved the draft federal budget until September 30, 2017, which continues to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of at least 410 million 456 thousand US dollars, including military support. It is noted that the Pentagon can spend $ 150 million on “providing assistance, including (military) training, equipment, lethal weapons for defense purposes, logistics assistance,” and “reconnaissance community assistance for the military and national security forces of Ukraine.”

War and Peace in the Lugansk People’s Republic: Fort Russ’ Popov visits frontline – Part 2 / By Eduard Popov / Fort Russ / June 21, 2017 / Continued from Part 1 / The socio-economic situation in the Lugansk People’s Republic: I spent most of my trip in Alchevsk and Stakhanov and paid one visit to the capital of the unrecognized republic, Lugansk. I also managed to visit a number of industrial enterprises which belonged to Ukrainian oligarchs until March 1st when they were transferred to external management by the republic. Allow me to share my everyday impressions that so vividly catch the eye upon travelling the republic. The LPR’s cities give off at once both a sense of purity and a sense of destruction. This paradoxical combination distinguishes the whole LPR, especially the cities close to the front such as Stakhanov, Pervomaysk, etc. Many homes on city streets are riddled with damage caused by Ukrainian artillery bombardments, as are city roads. Overall, the state of city and country roads is horrendous. In some place, repairs are being done and even new roads are being laid, but this is probably an exception to the rule. It was pleasing to see, however, that active restoration work is nonetheless ongoing. Not only are roads being repaired, but the holes in houses’ walls from artillery shells are being sealed. Especially noticeable is the progress in window and glass repairs. Practically all homes’ in the above mentioned towns’ windows have been broken during shelling. Now a number of homes are shining with new windows. Finished windows are purchased in Russia and installed by local contractors for the city’s residents absolutely for free. According to my friends from Lugansk, the funds for such are being provided by Russia. Ever since Ukraine refused to fulfill its social obligations to Donbass, including by refusing to pay out pensions despite the fact that the people of Donbass had created Ukraine’s national wealth and paid in their contributions to the Pension Fund, Russia has stepped in and accepted responsibility for taking care of the Donbass republics’ social security. Installing windows in homes is only one of the many manifestations of Russia’s humanitarian aid for the residents of Donbass. Russia, for example, has also taken upon itself the costs of gas for the DPR and LPR’s population (Ukraine refuses to cover these costs). As a result, gas is seven . . . READ MORE>>

Robert Parry (–Consortium News)

Putin, Ukraine and What Americans Know / By Robert Parry / Novorossia Vision (from Consortium News) / June 21, 2017 / A prime example of how today’s mainstream media paradigm works in the U.S. is the case of Ukraine, where Americans have been shielded from evidence that the 2014 ouster of democratically elected President Viktor Yanukovych was a U.S.-supported coup d’etat spearheaded by violent neo-Nazi extremists. As The New York Times has instructed us, there was no coup in Ukraine; there was no U.S. interference; and there weren’t even that many neo-Nazis. And, the ensuing civil conflict wasn’t a resistance among Yanukovych’s supporters to his illegal ouster; no, it was “Russian aggression” or a “Russian invasion.” If you deviate from this groupthink – if you point out how U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland talked about the U.S. spending $5 billion on Ukraine; if you mention her pre-coup intercepted phone call with U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt discussing who the new leaders would be and how “to glue” or how “to “midwife this thing”; if you note how Nuland and Sen. John McCain urged on the violent anti-Yanukovych protesters; if you recognize that snipers firing from far-right-controlled buildings killed both police and protesters to provoke the climactic ouster of Yanukovych; and if you think all that indeed looks like a coup – you obviously are the victim of “Russian propaganda and disinformation.” But most Americans probably haven’t heard any of that evidence revealing a coup, thanks to the mainstream U.S. media, which has essentially banned those deviant facts from the public discourse. If they are mentioned at all, they are lumped together with “fake news” amid the reassuring hope that soon there will be algorithms to purge such troublesome information from the Internet. So, if Americans tune in to Part Three of Oliver Stone’s “The . . . READ MORE>>

OSCE Deputy Chief Monitor Hug to visit Donetsk on June 20 / DONi News / June 19, 2017 / Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug plans to visit Donetsk on June 20, said a source close to the Mission. “Hug is expected to visit Donetsk tomorrow,” said the source. According to the preliminary plan, Hug is to inspect first-level pumping station of the Yuzhnodonbasskiy water duct which frequently comes under Ukrainian forces fire. The latest shelling incident on the territory of the Yuzhnodonbasskiy water duct was recorded on June 10-11 night. A transformer was badly damaged leaving the pumping station without power, and causing water supply issues on the both sides of the contact line. The Uzhnodonbassky water conduitis located in the ‘grey zone’ in the vicinity of Yasinovataya. Three pumping stations are linked to the duct; two of them supply water to the Kiev-controlled areas.

[Enemy Report:] Draft law on Donbas reintegration to be presented at Minsk group session, – MP / 112.international / June 19, 2017 / Ukraine’s delegation will present the draft law about re-integration of Donbas at a session of Minsk trilateral group. Iryna Lutsenko, the MP and presidential representative in the Parliament said that after the conciliatory session on June 19. ‘This bill will be presented by our Vice Speaker Iryna Gerashchenko during the Minsk group session, so that the parties can discuss it in a comprehensive manner. So far, the bill is called ‘The Peculiarities of State Policy of Restoration of State Sovereignty in Donbas.’ Its major goal is to boost defensive capabilities of Ukraine,’ she said. According to Lutsenko, law enforcement agencies – the National Police, the Emergency Ministry, the army and the Security Service, – will create the joint staff to work on the bill. The law is also expected to provide solution for major issues of environment, security, humanitarian and other areas. ‘This bill does not rule an option to introduce a police or peacekeeping mission from international organizations. This joint staff will grant local authorities more rights to solve the most burning social issues of the local residents. The draft law empowers Ukraine’s positions on the international arena; besides, this way we’ll let people realize that we’re not leaving them or these territories behind,’ Lutsenko said. The draft law is to be presented in the Ukrainian Parliament by the last plenary week, which is in the middle of July. Dmitry Peskov (–Mikhail Metzel/TASS)

Kremlin comments on Kiev’s plan for Donbass reintegration / TASS / The Kremlin has no detailed information yet if the Minsk Accords are incorporated in Kiev’s plan for Donbass reintegration. “It remains to be seen what is on the agenda, what details (Kiev’s plan contains),” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media. “We have no details on that score yet.” Peskov recalled that some aspects of Donbass reintegration were stated in the Minsk Accords. “There should be clarity to what extent this is taken into account in the document being drafted in Kiev,” he added. Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko on June 14 said he had issued instructions to draft a bill on Donbass reintegration. It would reportedly encompass a number of measures and steps that would have to be taken to ensure the region’s re-integration and to identify its legal status. Poroshenko said the bill relied on the terms stated in the Minsk Accords. Ukrainian presidential spokeswoman Irina Lutsenko said the bill on the reintegration of Donbass would give some special legal status to the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk republics. She stated that the bill being drafted would enhance the Ukrainian state’s defense capabilities in the area of the military operation. “What we have in mind is the legal status of military operations and the recognition of the legal status of certain uncontrolled territories of Donbass,” she said. Lutsenko explained that the yet-to-be passed law would improve the socio-economic situation in the region: the issue of birth certificates, notarized documents and so on. “We are building a strategy of restoring sovereignty over the Donetsk and Lugansk republics,” she said. “Also, there will follow harmonization of changes in the current situation in the country in accordance with the Minsk Accords and another confirmation that Ukraine would be prepared to make decisions and that it seeks a political and diplomatic settlement.” Quemado Institute comments: In some subtle—or not so subtle—way, this article seems like Moscow propaganda, painting Poroshenko’s plan in a more favorable light than it deserves, and thus undermining the cause of Donbass, as the Kremlin often does. It is obvious without reading the bill that the Minsk Accords are not incorporated in Kiev’s plan for Donbas reintegration. If they were, the plan would have been drafted with the approval of the DPR/LPR, as required by the Minsk Agreements. Peskov should know that. We hope this Kremlin-condoned move by Kiev is not a ploy to persuade President Trump that Poroshenko is seeking a reasonable settlement prior to their meeting in Washington.

DPR’s Minsk representative Denis Pushilin

DPR rejects Kiev’s plan on Donbass reintegration / DONi News / June 19, 2017 / The DPR plenipotentiary representative to the talks in Minsk Denis Pushilin rejected the new plan of Kiev for the reintegration of Donbass. He stressed that to implement such measures, there must be trust between the government of Ukraine and the republics, which at the moment does not exist. “After three years of war, the Donetsk and Lugansk republics will not believe the words (of Kiev – Ed.) “let’s forget everything, let’s everything be well afterwards,” so this option is not considered,” Pushilin said. He also added that the Kiev plan does not correlate with the Minsk agreements, which are considered as the only possible measures to resolve the situation in Donbass. Earlier, President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko announced plans to introduce a bill for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada on the reintegration of Donbass, prescribing a legal regime for the actions of the Ukrainian military. At that, the president opposed the abolition of the “anti-terrorist operation” (this is what the military operation in Donbass is called in Kiev) before the law was passed. The media reported that the Ukrainian authorities plan to introduce preferences and indulgences for the residents of the Lugansk and Donetsk republics within the framework of the bill on the reintegration of Donbass. In particular, Kiev wants to simplify for them the receipt of Ukrainian pensions, to establish trade between certain regions and to reduce the restrictions on the weight of the goods carried. Quemado Institute comments: We haven’t seen the contents of Poroshenko’s bill, but in any case it was not drafted with the approval of official DPR/LPR representatives Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky, a condition required by the Minsk Agreements for Ukrainian constitutional reform. The bill is therefore irrelevant to the peace process. It might however serve as a power play in preparation for Poroshenko’s planned visit with President Trump in Washington today or tomorrow. (According to Sputnik, Moscow has not seen details of the plan either.)

Russia says Croatia plan simply Donbass dreaming / News Front / June 19, 2017 / MOSCOW / The Croatia settlement used back in the Clinton era, was the next crackpot lunatic scheme the Neocon Council on Foreign Relations advised Kiev’s diplomats to try on Russia. But this is not the first ambush the Russian bear has seen and this time the bear told the west straight up, are you joking? The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that Croatia’s plans to share its experience of peaceful reintegration of occupied territories with Ukraine will not contribute to the settlement of the conflict in the Donbass in any, shape or form. The Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Information and Press stated this in comments connected with statements on the revitalization of the Croatian working group on cooperation with Ukraine, that Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry was openly saying would be the “new and improved” alternative to the Minsk Agreements Kiev has stalled on implementing from the day President Poroshenko signed them. “We have paid attention to the statements made at the level of the heads of government within the framework of the Croatian-Ukrainian talks in Zagreb, regarding plans to revitalize the working group on cooperation with Ukraine established in October 2016 by the Government of Croatia aimed at sharing the Croatian experience of ‘peaceful reintegration of the occupied territories’, which allegedly can be applied to Donetsk and Lugansk, with Kiev. We are forced to once more emphasize the inefficiency and inappropriateness of such steps,” the statement said. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Zagreb unilaterally interjected itself on an uninvited basis into the Minsk negotiations, with a plan that had been tailored to the specific regional and local conditions that are unique to the Croatian experience and do not have a “damn thing to do with Donbass” or what is going on there, said one Foreign Ministry official in Minsk. In the opinion of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Croatia must demand that Kiev “once and for all stop bombing the Donbass, issue a national amnesty at once, release all political prisoners, encourage free elections, and provide the special status guaranteed by Minsk. The Russian observers also remind section 10 of Minsk, calls for all foreign troops to leave the Ukraine at once-including, NATO, American, Canadian etc. It clearly says UKRAINE, not Donbass, “you will note.” As one Russian official pointed out. A working group for Ukraine’s support was created in Croatia at the end of 2016,without Russian or Donbass Republics participation. Therefore it has been a complete waste of time and resources by the Ukrainians and their American handlers, who think if you take the lead and simply “do something,” everybody else will follow you, even off a cliff.

Children of families resisting fascist attacks in Donetsk with U.S. volunteer Russell Bentley.

U.S. vet fights for Donetsk People’s Republic / Workers.org / June 18, 2017 / Russell Bonner Bentley was born in the United States and is now an “Information Warrior” for the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), which declared its independence from Ukraine in 2014. This former U.S. soldier went there to fight against fascism in Ukraine and around the world. Back in the 1990s when he was in the states, Bentley spent much of his adult life fighting for justice, including the struggle to free U.S. political prisoners Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal, both of whom he called “great men and true American heroes.” Although he describes himself as a poet by nature, Bentley left the U.S. in 2014 to join the Essence of Time (EOT) unit in the newly independent Donetsk, which was being attacked by the Ukrainian army, including many openly fascist units. Bentley served as a rifleman and RPG gunner on the frontlines at the Donetsk airport and the village of Spartak. The DPR and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), which also broke away from Ukraine three years ago, formed a federation called Novorossiya. Bentley’s call sign in the army of Novorossiya is “Texac,” which is Russian for “Texas.” In addition to being a DPR soldier, Bentley is a war correspondent combatting the lies of the U.S. government and the European Union, both of which have supported the Ukrainian government. Bentley has made scores of videos and penned numerous articles on the situation, otherwise largely ignored or distorted in the country of his birth. “There has been very little accurate reporting about this war and the people of Donbass by Western mainstream media,” Bentley has written, “but I have done my part to get the real story out, to people in the West, and to the world.” There are over 100,000 soldiers on the side of the Ukrainian government, including mercenaries backed by the U.S. and the European Union. According to Bentley, “The Novorossian Armed Forces (NAF) facing them have less than . . . READ MORE>>

Donetsk People’s Republic: Story untold by Western media / By Stephen Ebert (an American political analyst writing for Russian media) / Sott.net / June 14, 2017 / My refusal to believe ongoing Western media reports of “Russian aggression” makes me a “Kremlin troll”. My punishment for not towing the “party line” – simple, effective “shunning” by Western media – has not, however, diminished my ongoing commitment to seeing the other side. Having previously investigated the Crimean reunification with Russia, this May I turned my attention to the birth of two new government formations in Eastern Ukraine, the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LNR). Americans only hear either what Kiev “reports”, or the US propaganda machine puts out – these are puppet regimes born of “Russian aggression” and forcibly kept in place by “occupation”. Not being a brave “war correspondent”, I admittedly undertook my journey with some trepidation – not from fear of “Russian aggression”, but the Kiev regime’s ongoing shelling of civilian targets. I am eternally grateful to my newfound colleague Konstantin Dolgov for showing me the sad “Alley of Angels” – a deeply touching memorial to children killed to date by Kiev-regime forces. Further, my virtual contact with Patrick Lancaster, an American journalist who now resides there, and Alexander Sladkov, a Russian correspondent who largely lives there, but, more importantly, “run toward the sound of gunfire” have allowed me to counteract the information-war blockade by Western media. As I approached the larger city of Donetsk (previously over 1 million residents, now much smaller due to the initial flood of refugees to Russia (the paradox of people fleeing into the arms of the “aggressor”), I feared I would see a city center damaged by Kiev shelling, and people cowed and deprived of the most basic needs. Contrary to Ukrainian “patriots” on Russian TV, I was relieved to find an active, bustling city, with a very charming downtown, and thrilled to see a populace that, far from being cowed, harbors a firm belief in a better future, one outside the Ukraine. Despite Kiev’s total blockade, the city of Donetsk proper seems to have a reasonable assortment of goods and foodstuffs. Much of this seems to come from ever growing trade and cooperation with Russia, a bordering neighbor and largest trade partner of the “former”, pre-war Ukraine. In fact, while I was there, a conference on enhancing . . . READ MORE>>

Oliver Stone, Vladimir Putin

It’s the Russia, Stupid / By James George Jatras / Strategic Culture Foundation / June 18, 2017 / It’s another week in Washington and another horror show. This time it was Attorney General Jeff Sessions being grilled by Senators on whether, when, and how he might have met with certain Russians, or any Russian, or someone who might actually know a Russian. In addition to fishing for any inconsistency that could be used to support an accusation of obstruction of justice or perjury – the usual sleazy methodology of politically motivated investigations here – the transparent aim was to further poison the well on any possible initiative to improve ties with Moscow. The strategy appears to be working. The Russian Embassy in Washington confirms that for the first time since the Russian Federation’s founding the State Department did not send pro forma national day greetings. Perhaps the bureaucrats were afraid they would be tainted and themselves become targets of multiple investigations into «collusion» with the Kremlin. (Luckily, this intrepid Washington analyst has no qualms about such associations.) Or more likely, they themselves are part of the Russophobic mob undermining the White House. It has been reported that soon after the inauguration Trump sought to open dialogue with the Kremlin and set an early summit with President Vladimir Putin. This produced a hysterical counteraction from the Deep State. As reported by conservative columnist and former presidential candidate Patrick Buchanan: «The State Department was tasked with working out the details. “Instead, says Daniel Fried, the coordinator for sanctions policy, he received ‘panicky’ calls of ‘Please, my God, can you stop this?’. Operatives at State, disloyal to the president and hostile to the Russia policy on which he had been elected, collaborated with elements in Congress to sabotage any detente. They succeeded. ‘It would have been a win-win for Moscow,’ said Tom Malinowski of State, who boasted last week of his role in blocking a rapprochement with Russia. State employees sabotaged one of the principal policies for which Americans had voted, and they substituted their own.” So much for constitutional government and the rule of law. But now it gets even worse. This week Congress moved legislation designed to codify in statute sanctions imposed on Russia by Barack Obama over Ukraine and evidence-free charges of Russian election interference. Provisions for a presidential waiver, which are standard in any sanctions legislation, are unusually narrow. Congressional proponents are clear that their aim is to take the matter out of the president’s hands. Democrats, seemingly devoid of any other policy agenda or ideas, vow to keep banging the Russia drum through the 2018 Congressional elections. When all is said and done, there are lots of reasons the political class hates Trump. His heresies on immigration and trade are near the top of the list. But make no mistake: for the Deep State and its . . . READ MORE>>

In the Mariupol direction, there were shelled six localities’ areas, at which the enemy launched 13 tanks rounds and 44 mortar shells of 120mm and 82mm calibre. In the Gorlovka direction, six localities’ areas underwent shellings. The enemy made 37 tank rounds. A civilian was wounded and a soldier of the DPR Armed Forces suffered severe wounds as a result of the shellings. Six houses were damaged in the localities of Trudovskiye, Vasilyevka, and Sakhanka. The village of Krasny Partizan was de-energized. Ukraine keeps pursuing the policy of genocide and blockade of our Republic’s population. Ongoing shelling of the Yuzhnodonbassky water conduit’s 1st level pumping station in Vasilyevka locality serve as another confirmation to that. Yesterday, during a relatively calm period, our experts repaired the station’s out-of-service equipment damaged in the AFU shelling on June 9. But last night, since 22:30, Ukrainian units again started shelling the station, this time with the use of artillery and tanks. As a result of the Ukrainian bombardment, a transforming substation feeding the pumping station with power was damaged. At present the station remains de-energized. Ukrainian military and political authorities demonstrated absolute disregard for the population of our Republic and residents of the Kiev-controlled territories, trying to deprive them of access to drinking water in such a way. Let me remind you that the pumping station in Vasilyevka locality delivers water to five filtering stations, including four on the Ukrainian side, providing water to more than 40 localities inhabited by some 1.8 million people. I address citizens of Ukraine in the so-called ‘ATO’ zone. Ukrainian authorities are taking you hostages of this conflict, justifying their actions by fighting against ‘mythical’ terrorists. In fact, terrorists are those murdering civilians for the sake of achieving their pseudo-patriotic goals, as Ukrainian authorities do. It is no surprise the civilian population of Artyomovsk locality negatively takes terrorists from the Ukrainian army. Thus, according to our intelligence service, a 20-strong SBU operational group arrived at this settlement having as the main task operational measures aimed at preventing conflict escalation between civilians and Ukrainian servicemen, as well as rallies and protests against the acting authorities of Ukraine. The population of Ukraine does not need any ‘visa-free travel’, NATO troops are not welcome in their country! They want peace! —Vice-Commander of the DPR People’s Militia, Colonel Eduard Basurin, official translation by DONi News Agency

Tillerson, Putin (–Russia Insider)

Tillerson: Trump Wants to Rebuild Relationship With Russia / By Jason Ditz / AntiWar.com / June 8, 2017 / Says Election Hacking Claim Mustn’t Impede Diplomacy / Visiting New Zealand today, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that President Trump has asked him to move forward with efforts to “rebuild” the US diplomatic relationship with Russia, which he described as currently “at a low point and deteriorating.” According to Tillerson, Trump wants to say the US-Russia relationship stabilize, and for trust to be rebuilt. He added that Trump insisted that the allegations surrounding election hacking by Russia mustn’t be allowed to impede the attempts to restore diplomatic ties. This interest is not new, and indeed President Trump made normalization of ties with Russia a major part of his 2016 election campaign. Virtually nothing positive has happened on that front since Trump’s inauguration, however. If anything, the Trump Administration had given the appearance in the past few months that the Russia rapprochement was wholly forgotten, with officials repeatedly insisting that there are no intentions of lifting US sanctions against Russia. This also comes less than a week after former State Department officials had bragged about derailing previous Trump efforts to normalize US-Russia ties, however, so it may well be that such intentions have been around for awhile, and they’re just trying to make something happen in the face of continuing opposition from people more comfortable with the US and Russia remaining enemies. “Putin Interviews” made the globalists go into hysterics / By D. Pavlenko / Katehon.com / June 6, 2017 / Oliver Stone’s movie “The Putin Interviews” breaks all clichés of western propaganda against Russia and its political leader. “The Putin Interviews” directed by famous American director Oliver Stone is coming out on June 12-15 2017, however, it made the Western media worry and get afraid that Western common people could see absolutely another Putin that differs from his image created by the anti-Russian propaganda. As it was expected, the most officious, globalist media criticized Stone for his attempt to “humanize an authoritarian Russian leader”. Especially, The Daily Beast well known for its frequently provocative anti-Russian rhetoric stood out in its critics. The published fragments of “The Putin Interviews” on the Internet show us that the president of Russia appears in Stone’s movie as absolutely simple person who drives a car, plays hockey, feeds horses and works out. However, the Western media used biased coverage of things that were interesting for their viewers who always cry listening stories about persecution of sodomites in Russia or reports about “Russian aggression” against “democratic” Ukraine or “freedom-loving, peaceful, moderate opposition” in Syria. For instance, a journalist from The Daily Beast called Oliver Stone’s movie “wildly irresponsible love letter to Vladimir Putin” in the headline. As well as that Stone is presented as not the best American journalist but rather a historian- revisionist and apologist of such “dictators” as Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and Vladimir Putin. Moreover, they remind Stone about his movie “Ukraine on Fire” telling about the Maida nans the coup d’état in 2014. According to the globalist magazine’s view, this movie is “ a bizarre slice of Kremlin propaganda”. “Stone not only fails to challenge Putin, but essentially cedes him the floor, allowing the cunning ex-KGB operative to spin more than the president’s toupee in a tornado. Putin denies Russia was the aggressor in virtually every global conflict, including the invasions of Georgia and Ukraine. He champions . . . READ MORE>>
