Eduard Basurin (–DONi News)

Donetsk Defense: Weekly Situation Report, 06/23/2017 / DONi News / June 23, 2017 / READ FULL REPORT>> / EXCERPTS: Good day! … Over the past 24 hours, there were registered 35 occasions of ceasefire violations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The enemy targeted the Republic’s territory with four artillery projectiles of 152mm and 122mm calibres, 165 mortar shells of 120mm and 82mm calibres, and 17 tank rounds. In total, over the past week the enemy committed 328 violations of the ceasefire regime and fired 2,840 rockets, artillery projectiles, tank rounds and mortar shells at the territory of the Republic. The Armed Forces of Ukraine subjected 34 Republic’s localities to shellings, 46 residential buildings sustained damages in 12 of them. Along with that, power supply was disrupted in the localities of Donetsk-Severny, Kashtanovoye, Krasny Partizan, Kominternovo, Zaichenko, Novotavriya, and Dzerzhinsk. … Unfortunately, over the past week, there were registered casualties among the Republic’s civilian population and the DPR military personnel. Two civilians were killed in the AFU shellings. In addition to that, two servicemen were killed and one was severely wounded when defending the Republic. … On June 20, during the visit of the OSCE to Ukraine Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug to the Donetsk People’s Republic and on the eve of another meeting of the security contact groups in Minsk, Ukrainian special services carried out a cynical provocation against international observers with involvement of the Republic’s citizens, recruited by the SBU under the “Come Home” programme. The day before the Minsk negotiations, the Security Services’ recruits performed a provocation, shooting near the international observers’ cars. … This week, the Ukrainian party made attempts to provoke our units into retaliatory actions by targeted bombardments of the Republican localities’ residential areas. Despite this, the DPR Armed Forces did not respond to the provocations. As a result of a thorough analysis of photographic materials on the Berdyanskoye locality’s shelling, it was established that the enemy also shelled its own territories. Thus, in the photos of the ‘ATO’ headquarters’ press center, there are craters caused by 82mm mortar shells’ detonation, which, according to the AFU version, had allegedly been launched by the DPR Armed Forces’ units. However, all the DPR mortars are in withdrawal places, which is confirmed by the OSCE Mission’s observers. In addition, the range of mortar fire does not provide for shells to reach Berdyanskoye locality from our positions. It is too far from the contact line. … On June 19, in Sergeyevka village of the Pokrovsky district, a group of radical Ukrainian nationalists blasted the electrical substation feeding the locality and the railway station with power. Sacrificing their own population, the radicals sought to stop the railway communication on this branch line. Thus, they were willing to demonstrate to the Ukrainian authorities that they were not interested in restoring economic ties with the Republics, and, at that, were ready to resort to terrorist methods to support the Donbass blockade. … –Vice-Commander of the DPR People’s Militia, Colonel Eduard Basurin, official translation by DONi News Agency . . .  READ FULL REPORT>>

Full Report from LPR High Command Lt. Col Andrey Marochko / Novorossia Today / June 23, 2017 / Nazi Kiev forces continue to shell civilian areas of Lugansk Republic as well as LPR People’s Army positions six times over the past 24 hours, the Republic’s defense authorities said. … / The situation in the zone of responsibility of the LPR People’s Army has not changed and remains tense. Over the past day, the enemy violated the ceasefire 6 times. Kalinovo township, Zheltoye, Smeloye and Zhelobok villages and Prince Igor monument area were targeted with 120mm and 82mm mortar, infantry fighting vehicle cannons and recoilless guns (SPG). There were shelled the positions of our units in the areas of the localities Kalinovo, Kalinovka, Oboznoye, Sokolniki and Zhelobok. The Nazi Armed Forces of Ukraine used in the shelling prohibited by the Minsk Agreements 82 and 120mm mortars, grenade launchers of various types and small arms. In total, on the territory of the Republic there were launched 169 shells. The aggressive intentions of the enemy are confirmed by the fact of detection of firing positions of a 82mm mortar in the zone of responsibility of the 14th brigade of the Nazi Ukraine Military (AFU) , 1.5 km south of the locality of Stary Aydar, which provocatively shells our positions almost daily. The locality of Schastyeis also shelled from these positions. I would like to ask the OSCE SMM representatives not to disregard the information about the shelling of the People’s Army positions and the Kiev-controlled localities. I would like to remind you that in its report, the SMM purposefully did not indicate the direction of the shelling of the locality of Schastye, since the shelling was obviously conducted from the Nazi Ukrainian side, and it was possible to see it with the naked eye. This is also confirmed by the local residents. You can determine the direction of the shelling by the shank of the mortar shell stuck in the asphalt. The OSCE observers know this. The Ukrainian military criminal authorities do not intend to comply with the agreements reached to maintain the ceasefire, and are doing everything possible to further escalate the conflict in the Donbass Region (Formerly southeast of Ukraine). We adhere to the Ceasefire silence regime and observe the Minsk Agreements. Our actions are aimed at resolving the conflict in Donbass peacefully, but in the event of an aggravation of the situation, the LPR People’s Army reserves the right to take decisive actions in order to free the territories seized by the Kiev bandits. —Official representative of the LPR People’s Army,Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Marochko

Lavrov blasts Kiev’s attempts to gain control over Donbass / TASS / June 23, 2017 / Kiev’s attempts to gain control over Donbass before implementing the political provisions of the Minsk Agreements are unlawful as they run contrary to the accords, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the Belarusian media on the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Belarus. “These attempts are unlawful because the Minsk Agreements have been approved by the United Nations Security Council,” the Russian top diplomat pointed out. “They stipulate that the political provisions concerning the amnesty, the special status of Donbass enshrined in the country’s constitution and elections to be held under the OSCE’s control should be implemented before Kiev gains full control over the region,” Lavrov explained. The Russian foreign minister stressed that “the special status, amnesty and elections are meant to guarantee that the will of the people living in the region will be taken into account.” According to Lavrov, “if these political reforms are not implemented, then it will be impossible to ensure the security of the people who currently head some of the areas in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and who led the . . . [Enemy Report:] Donbas reintegration bill won’t affect Minsk process – Ukraine’s foreign ministry / Unian / June 23, 2017 / Ukraine’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko forecasts that the bill on Donbas reintegration, which should determine the ways to restore Ukraine’s sovereignty in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, will not affect the Minsk peace talks. “I have heard about three different versions of the same [bill] with different names and different concepts. I do not directly link the draft law on reintegration, de-occupation … with the intensification of talks in the Minsk format,” Prystaiko told journalists. He recalled that the Minsk format had been operating for almost three years. “We are trying to settle [the Donbas crisis], using means of diplomacy. The bill says what we are stating about our approaches to how we will address the issue of our east,” the diplomat said. As UNIAN reported earlier, Chairman of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction Artur Herasimov said that the provisions of the bill on Donbas reintegration would soon be offered to the public for debate. Andriy Parubiy, Ukrainian speaker of Parliament announces US troops will deploy in Donbass / Co-op News (Co-op Anti-war Cafe Berlin) / June 23, 2017 / Andriy Parubiy, the Ukrainian speaker of Parliament, has announced on the air during a broadcast of the program “Freedom of Speech” on Kiev television.that Ukraine has an agreement with the United States of America to deploy combat troops to “assist” their martial law operation or reintegration of Donbass plan. A security agreement with the United States has been signed that provides for the deployment of US military forces on the territory of Ukraine, as stated by the head of the Verkhovna Rada. “The agreement envisages special operations, joint scientific and technical developments, and even the deployment of military troops from the United States of America in Ukraine,” he said. US forces are currently acting as advisers and operate on a secret basis in Donbass. The actual deployment of US forces as a backup force to Ukrainian units involved in martial law duties fighting in Donbass is a sharp, severe escalation of the Donbass conflict to a level not seen previously. [QI Editor’s note: The “reintegration of Donbass” plan has not been released. There is no verification yet of Perubiy’s claim.]

[Enemy Report:] French politicians heading for Donetsk to “support Russia army” / Unian / June 23, 2017 / A group of French local council members representing the Bouches-du-Rhône department of France flew to Moscow on Thursday, June 22, from where they will head for the occupied city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, according to the online news outlet Europeiska Pravda. Among the politicians are member of the Vitrolles municipal council who represents the Republicans Christian Borelli; member of the council of the Bouches-du-Rhône from the Debout la France (France Arise) Party Christiane Pujol and her husband; as well as president of the local branch of the National Center of Independents and Peasants of the Bouches-du-Rhône department Hubert Fayard, Europeiska Pravda reported referring to La Provence. On June 22, they departed from Marseille for Moscow, then they will go to occupied Donetsk. The aim of the visit, according to the French publication, is “to support the Russian army*, which is being constantly attacked by Ukraine, despite the Minsk agreements.” The group will stay in Moscow on June 22-24, where they are expected to hold a series of meetings, in particular, with Chairman of the State Duma international affairs committee Leonid Slutsky. In Donetsk, the French politicians are to meet with leader of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” (“DPR”) Alexander Zakharchenko. [Source: unian.info/politics/1992984-french-politicians-heading-for-donetsk-to-support-russia-army.html] Editor’s Note: We can’t verify the French publication La Provence used the words “Russian army”, since the site is unavailable to the nonpaying public. There is of course no Russian army in Donbass.

OSCE monitors in Ukraine (–bbc/file)

Spot Report by the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM): Armed man shoots at and violently attacks SMM in “DPR”-controlled Yasynuvata / OSCE.org / June 20, 2017 / On 20 June an SMM patrol (1) comprising two armoured vehicles and six members was stationary at an observation post at “DPR”-controlled Yasynuvata railway station (16km north-east of Donetsk), when it saw two men in military-style attire, one armed with an assault rifle (AK-type) walking in a western direction about 80m away. Another SMM patrol (2) comprising two armoured vehicles and six members was positioned about 150m west of the other patrol and about 100m from the two men. At 11:06, both patrols heard one burst of small-arms fire assessed as coming from the area of the two men. Then, the two men, both with their faces covered – one with a balaclava, the other with a scarf – moved towards SMM patrol (2) and began to aggressively shout at the SMM. They then left. At 11:10 both SMM patrols attempted to leave the area. As SMM patrol (2) began to leave, the armed man ran to the second vehicle, tried to open the door on the driver’s side and attempted to break the driver’s side window with his gunstock. Failing to do either, he then ran after the first vehicle from SMM patrol (2). Following this, the armed man turned and pointed his assault rifle at the driver and front-seat passenger of the second vehicle from SMM patrol (2). Both patrol members raised their hands in response. When the armed man moved to the side of the vehicle to try to open the front passenger-side door, the driver accelerated. As the SMM vehicle was driving away, the armed man hit the rear right-side window with his gunstock, causing minor damage. The SMM then saw him fire a burst of small-arms fire into the air, followed by three shots that the SMM assessed were fired at the patrol vehicle. The patrol vehicle was not hit. At 11:21, as all SMM patrol vehicles were leaving the area the SMM observed the armed man pointing his assault rifle at the SMM. The SMM returned safely to base in Donetsk city. The SMM informed the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination and asked it to follow up on the incident.

Kiev’s Donbass Plan: ‘Changing Blockade to a Full-Scale Military Operation’ / Sputnik / June 21, 2017 / The new Kiev-proposed plan on Donbass reintegration is in fact an attempt to replace the ongoing blockade with a full-scale military operation, a senior Russian official stated. / MINSK (Sputnik) / The Kiev-proposed draft law on reintegration of Donbass is an attempt to create an alternative to the Minsk agreements, instead of a political settlement, emphasis is placed on a military solution to the conflict, Russia’s envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine Boris Gryzlov said Wednesday after the group’s meeting. “According to available information, this bill being drafted in Kiev is aimed at creating a certain alternative to the UN-approved Minsk agreements” and “does not envision the fulfillment of the most important terms of the Minsk agreements, namely, the special status of Donbass, amnesty and holding of elections,” Gryzlov said. He added that the draft law did not stipulate a comprehensive political solution to the problem. “Obviously, this law is promoted by Ukraine’s ‘party of war’. It is a daring attempt to change the tactic of Donbass blockade to a full-scale military operation,” Gryzlov said. [More generic background at source.]

Kiev regime leader Petro Porkoshenko (–DNI Press)

Ukrainian Rada’s bill on Donbass marking step away from reintegration, expert says / TASS / June 20, 2017 / MOSCOW / A bill on reintegration of Donbass, which Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada national parliament is developing now, will have an immediately opposite effect on the perception of people in the self-proclaimed unrecognized Donetsk and Lugansk republics, Alexei Chesnakov, the director of the Moscow-based Center for Current Political Assessments told TASS on Monday. “It’s scarcely possible to think that the latest initiatives of the Poroshenko Administration on reintegration of Donbass will be attractive for people in the Donetsk and Lugansk republics,” the expert said. “Much rather, they mark a step away from reintegration.” Poroshenko’s initiative is a reaction to the humanitarian program for reunification of Donbass the two republics introduced earlier. As part of it, they pay out benefits to veterans of Soviet veterans of World War II and invite the peopled living in the areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions under the pro-Kiev forces’ control to come and visit hospitals. “In recent months, the popularity of these programs on the territories under Kiev’s control has been growing,” Chesnakov said. Along with it, the bill the Rada is developing reflects Ukraine’s affinity for choosing the ways different from the political and diplomatic solutions that the Rada deputies speak about officially. “The forceful elements of the new law in what concerns replacement of the ‘antiterrorist operation’ with martial law testify to Kiev’s readiness to resolve the Donbass problem by force but any steps towards that solution will be considered as violation of the Minsk accords,” Chesnakov said. He also believes that a rebranding of the government’s armed punitive operation in Donbass will not help President Poroshenko in any significant way. “Poroshenko should either implement the Minsk II accords or admit his personal responsibility for non-compliance with them,” Chesnakov said.

Pentagon can supply Ukraine with lethal weapon / DONi News / June 21, 2017 / The official spokesman for the Pentagon, Jeff Davis, on Tuesday did not exclude the situation in which the United States can begin deliveries of lethal weapons to Ukraine. “We did not provide Ukraine with lethal defensive weapons in the past, but we do not rule out such a possibility in the future,” he told reporters. In early May, the Senate of the US Congress approved the draft federal budget until September 30, 2017, which continues to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of at least 410 million 456 thousand US dollars, including military support. It is noted that the Pentagon can spend $ 150 million on “providing assistance, including (military) training, equipment, lethal weapons for defense purposes, logistics assistance,” and “reconnaissance community assistance for the military and national security forces of Ukraine.”

War and Peace in the Lugansk People’s Republic: Fort Russ’ Popov visits frontline – Part 2 / By Eduard Popov / Fort Russ / June 21, 2017 / Continued from Part 1 / The socio-economic situation in the Lugansk People’s Republic: I spent most of my trip in Alchevsk and Stakhanov and paid one visit to the capital of the unrecognized republic, Lugansk. I also managed to visit a number of industrial enterprises which belonged to Ukrainian oligarchs until March 1st when they were transferred to external management by the republic. Allow me to share my everyday impressions that so vividly catch the eye upon travelling the republic. The LPR’s cities give off at once both a sense of purity and a sense of destruction. This paradoxical combination distinguishes the whole LPR, especially the cities close to the front such as Stakhanov, Pervomaysk, etc. Many homes on city streets are riddled with damage caused by Ukrainian artillery bombardments, as are city roads. Overall, the state of city and country roads is horrendous. In some place, repairs are being done and even new roads are being laid, but this is probably an exception to the rule. It was pleasing to see, however, that active restoration work is nonetheless ongoing. Not only are roads being repaired, but the holes in houses’ walls from artillery shells are being sealed. Especially noticeable is the progress in window and glass repairs. Practically all homes’ in the above mentioned towns’ windows have been broken during shelling. Now a number of homes are shining with new windows. Finished windows are purchased in Russia and installed by local contractors for the city’s residents absolutely for free. According to my friends from Lugansk, the funds for such are being provided by Russia. Ever since Ukraine refused to fulfill its social obligations to Donbass, including by refusing to pay out pensions despite the fact that the people of Donbass had created Ukraine’s national wealth and paid in their contributions to the Pension Fund, Russia has stepped in and accepted responsibility for taking care of the Donbass republics’ social security. Installing windows in homes is only one of the many manifestations of Russia’s humanitarian aid for the residents of Donbass. Russia, for example, has also taken upon itself the costs of gas for the DPR and LPR’s population (Ukraine refuses to cover these costs). As a result, gas is seven . . . READ MORE>>

Robert Parry (–Consortium News)

Putin, Ukraine and What Americans Know / By Robert Parry / Novorossia Vision (from Consortium News) / June 21, 2017 / A prime example of how today’s mainstream media paradigm works in the U.S. is the case of Ukraine, where Americans have been shielded from evidence that the 2014 ouster of democratically elected President Viktor Yanukovych was a U.S.-supported coup d’etat spearheaded by violent neo-Nazi extremists. As The New York Times has instructed us, there was no coup in Ukraine; there was no U.S. interference; and there weren’t even that many neo-Nazis. And, the ensuing civil conflict wasn’t a resistance among Yanukovych’s supporters to his illegal ouster; no, it was “Russian aggression” or a “Russian invasion.” If you deviate from this groupthink – if you point out how U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland talked about the U.S. spending $5 billion on Ukraine; if you mention her pre-coup intercepted phone call with U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt discussing who the new leaders would be and how “to glue” or how “to “midwife this thing”; if you note how Nuland and Sen. John McCain urged on the violent anti-Yanukovych protesters; if you recognize that snipers firing from far-right-controlled buildings killed both police and protesters to provoke the climactic ouster of Yanukovych; and if you think all that indeed looks like a coup – you obviously are the victim of “Russian propaganda and disinformation.” But most Americans probably haven’t heard any of that evidence revealing a coup, thanks to the mainstream U.S. media, which has essentially banned those deviant facts from the public discourse. If they are mentioned at all, they are lumped together with “fake news” amid the reassuring hope that soon there will be algorithms to purge such troublesome information from the Internet. So, if Americans tune in to Part Three of Oliver Stone’s “The . . . READ MORE>>

Alexander Hug (–Dan-news.info)

OSCE Deputy Chief Monitor Hug to visit Donetsk on June 20 / DONi News / June 19, 2017 / Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug plans to visit Donetsk on June 20, said a source close to the Mission. “Hug is expected to visit Donetsk tomorrow,” said the source. According to the preliminary plan, Hug is to inspect first-level pumping station of the Yuzhnodonbasskiy water duct which frequently comes under Ukrainian forces fire. The latest shelling incident on the territory of the Yuzhnodonbasskiy water duct was recorded on June 10-11 night. A transformer was badly damaged leaving the pumping station without power, and causing water supply issues on the both sides of the contact line. The Uzhnodonbassky water conduitis located in the ‘grey zone’ in the vicinity of Yasinovataya. Three pumping stations are linked to the duct; two of them supply water to the Kiev-controlled areas.

[Enemy Report:] Draft law on Donbas reintegration to be presented at Minsk group session, – MP / 112.international / June 19, 2017 / Ukraine’s delegation will present the draft law about re-integration of Donbas at a session of Minsk trilateral group. Iryna Lutsenko, the MP and presidential representative in the Parliament said that after the conciliatory session on June 19. ‘This bill will be presented by our Vice Speaker Iryna Gerashchenko during the Minsk group session, so that the parties can discuss it in a comprehensive manner. So far, the bill is called ‘The Peculiarities of State Policy of Restoration of State Sovereignty in Donbas.’ Its major goal is to boost defensive capabilities of Ukraine,’ she said. According to Lutsenko, law enforcement agencies – the National Police, the Emergency Ministry, the army and the Security Service, – will create the joint staff to work on the bill. The law is also expected to provide solution for major issues of environment, security, humanitarian and other areas. ‘This bill does not rule an option to introduce a police or peacekeeping mission from international organizations. This joint staff will grant local authorities more rights to solve the most burning social issues of the local residents. The draft law empowers Ukraine’s positions on the international arena; besides, this way we’ll let people realize that we’re not leaving them or these territories behind,’ Lutsenko said. The draft law is to be presented in the Ukrainian Parliament by the last plenary week, which is in the middle of July. Dmitry Peskov (–Mikhail Metzel/TASS)

Kremlin comments on Kiev’s plan for Donbass reintegration / TASS / The Kremlin has no detailed information yet if the Minsk Accords are incorporated in Kiev’s plan for Donbass reintegration. “It remains to be seen what is on the agenda, what details (Kiev’s plan contains),” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media. “We have no details on that score yet.” Peskov recalled that some aspects of Donbass reintegration were stated in the Minsk Accords. “There should be clarity to what extent this is taken into account in the document being drafted in Kiev,” he added. Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko on June 14 said he had issued instructions to draft a bill on Donbass reintegration. It would reportedly encompass a number of measures and steps that would have to be taken to ensure the region’s re-integration and to identify its legal status. Poroshenko said the bill relied on the terms stated in the Minsk Accords. Ukrainian presidential spokeswoman Irina Lutsenko said the bill on the reintegration of Donbass would give some special legal status to the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk republics. She stated that the bill being drafted would enhance the Ukrainian state’s defense capabilities in the area of the military operation. “What we have in mind is the legal status of military operations and the recognition of the legal status of certain uncontrolled territories of Donbass,” she said. Lutsenko explained that the yet-to-be passed law would improve the socio-economic situation in the region: the issue of birth certificates, notarized documents and so on. “We are building a strategy of restoring sovereignty over the Donetsk and Lugansk republics,” she said. “Also, there will follow harmonization of changes in the current situation in the country in accordance with the Minsk Accords and another confirmation that Ukraine would be prepared to make decisions and that it seeks a political and diplomatic settlement.” Quemado Institute comments: In some subtle—or not so subtle—way, this article seems like Moscow propaganda, painting Poroshenko’s plan in a more favorable light than it deserves, and  thus undermining the cause of Donbass, as the Kremlin often does. It is obvious without reading the bill that the Minsk Accords are not incorporated in Kiev’s plan for Donbas reintegration. If they were, the plan would have been drafted with the approval of the DPR/LPR, as required by the Minsk Agreements. Peskov should know that. We hope this Kremlin-condoned move by Kiev is not a ploy to persuade President Trump that Poroshenko is seeking a reasonable settlement prior to their meeting in Washington.

DPR’s Minsk representative Denis Pushilin

DPR rejects Kiev’s plan on Donbass reintegration / DONi News / June 19, 2017 / The DPR plenipotentiary representative to the talks in Minsk Denis Pushilin rejected the new plan of Kiev for the reintegration of Donbass. He stressed that to implement such measures, there must be trust between the government of Ukraine and the republics, which at the moment does not exist. “After three years of war, the Donetsk and Lugansk republics will not believe the words (of Kiev – Ed.) “let’s forget everything, let’s everything be well afterwards,” so this option is not considered,” Pushilin said. He also added that the Kiev plan does not correlate with the Minsk agreements, which are considered as the only possible measures to resolve the situation in Donbass. Earlier, President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko announced plans to introduce a bill for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada on the reintegration of Donbass, prescribing a legal regime for the actions of the Ukrainian military. At that, the president opposed the abolition of the “anti-terrorist operation” (this is what the military operation in Donbass is called in Kiev) before the law was passed. The media reported that the Ukrainian authorities plan to introduce preferences and indulgences for the residents of the Lugansk and Donetsk republics within the framework of the bill on the reintegration of Donbass. In particular, Kiev wants to simplify for them the receipt of Ukrainian pensions, to establish trade between certain regions and to reduce the restrictions on the weight of the goods carried. Quemado Institute comments: We haven’t seen the contents of Poroshenko’s bill, but in any case it was not drafted with the approval of official DPR/LPR representatives Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky, a condition required by the Minsk Agreements for Ukrainian constitutional reform.  The bill is therefore irrelevant to the peace process. It might however serve as a power play in preparation for Poroshenko’s planned visit with President Trump in Washington today or tomorrow. (According to Sputnik, Moscow has not seen details of the plan either.)

Russia says Croatia plan simply Donbass dreaming / News Front / June 19, 2017 / MOSCOW / The Croatia settlement used back in the Clinton era, was the next crackpot lunatic scheme the Neocon Council on Foreign Relations advised Kiev’s diplomats to try on Russia. But this is not the first ambush the Russian bear has seen and this time the bear told the west straight up, are you joking? The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that Croatia’s plans to share its experience of peaceful reintegration of occupied territories with Ukraine will not contribute to the settlement of the conflict in the Donbass in any, shape or form. The Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Information and Press stated this in comments connected with statements on the revitalization of the Croatian working group on cooperation with Ukraine, that Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry was openly saying would be the “new and improved” alternative to the Minsk Agreements Kiev has stalled on implementing from the day President Poroshenko signed them. “We have paid attention to the statements made at the level of the heads of government within the framework of the Croatian-Ukrainian talks in Zagreb, regarding plans to revitalize the working group on cooperation with Ukraine established in October 2016 by the Government of Croatia aimed at sharing the Croatian experience of ‘peaceful reintegration of the occupied territories’, which allegedly can be applied to Donetsk and Lugansk, with Kiev. We are forced to once more emphasize the inefficiency and inappropriateness of such steps,” the statement said. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Zagreb unilaterally interjected itself on an uninvited basis into the Minsk negotiations, with a plan that had been tailored to the specific regional and local conditions that are unique to the Croatian experience and do not have a “damn thing to do with Donbass” or what is going on there, said one Foreign Ministry official in Minsk. In the opinion of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Croatia must demand that Kiev “once and for all stop bombing the Donbass, issue a national amnesty at once, release all political prisoners, encourage free elections, and provide the special status guaranteed by Minsk. The Russian observers also remind section 10 of Minsk, calls for all foreign troops to leave the Ukraine at once-including, NATO, American, Canadian etc. It clearly says UKRAINE, not Donbass, “you will note.” As one Russian official pointed out. A working group for Ukraine’s support was created in Croatia at the end of 2016,without Russian or Donbass Republics participation. Therefore it has been a complete waste of time and resources by the Ukrainians and their American handlers, who think if you take the lead and simply “do something,” everybody else will follow you, even off a cliff.

Children of families resisting fascist attacks in Donetsk with U.S. volunteer Russell Bentley.

U.S. vet fights for Donetsk People’s Republic / Workers.org / June 18, 2017 / Russell Bonner Bentley was born in the United States and is now an “Information Warrior” for the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), which declared its independence from Ukraine in 2014. This former U.S. soldier went there to fight against fascism in Ukraine and around the world. Back in the 1990s when he was in the states, Bentley spent much of his adult life fighting for justice, including the struggle to free U.S. political prisoners Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal, both of whom he called “great men and true American heroes.” Although he describes himself as a poet by nature, Bentley left the U.S. in 2014 to join the Essence of Time (EOT) unit in the newly independent Donetsk, which was being attacked by the Ukrainian army, including many openly fascist units. Bentley served as a rifleman and RPG gunner on the frontlines at the Donetsk airport and the village of Spartak. The DPR and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), which also broke away from Ukraine three years ago, formed a federation called Novorossiya. Supporting eachother: Donetsk Republic and Crimea sign trade agreement / Fort Russ / June 18, 2017 / The Chamber of Commerce of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Crimea have today signed a trade and cooperation agreement. The signing ceremony took place in Donetsk. The document was signed by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Valery Bulyha and his Crimean colleague, Artem Maltsev. “Today’s measure in the signing of the document is aimed, primarily, on the development and growth of production, which will improve the welfare of the inhabitants of the Republic” – he said in an interview with reporters Bulyha. In turn, Maltsev noted the high commercial and industrial potential of the Donetsk People’s Republic, and stressed that Crimea is ready to support it. “We have set ourselves the task of raising social standards of citizens in both areas, by improving economic indicators. Donetsk People’s Republic: Story untold by Western media / By Stephen Ebert (an American political analyst writing for Russian media) / Sott.net / June 14, 2017 / My refusal to believe ongoing Western media reports of “Russian aggression” makes me a “Kremlin troll”. My punishment for not towing the “party line” – simple, effective “shunning” by Western media – has not, however, diminished my ongoing commitment to seeing the other side. Having previously investigated the Crimean reunification with Russia, this May I turned my attention to the birth of two new government formations in Eastern Ukraine, the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) and the Lugansk People’s Republic (LNR). Americans only hear either what Kiev “reports”, or the US propaganda machine puts out – these are puppet regimes born of “Russian aggression” and forcibly kept in place by “occupation”. Not being a brave “war correspondent”, I admittedly undertook my journey with some trepidation – not from fear of “Russian aggression”, but the Kiev regime’s ongoing shelling of civilian targets. I am eternally grateful to my newfound colleague Konstantin Dolgov for showing me the sad “Alley of Angels” – a deeply touching memorial to children killed to date by Kiev-regime forces. Further, my virtual contact with Patrick Lancaster, an American journalist who now resides there, and Alexander Sladkov, a Russian correspondent who largely lives there, but, more importantly, “run toward the sound of gunfire” have allowed me to counteract the information-war blockade by Western media. As I approached the larger city of Donetsk (previously over 1 million residents, now much smaller due to the initial flood of refugees to Russia (the paradox of people fleeing into the arms of the “aggressor”), I feared I would see a city center damaged by Kiev shelling, and people cowed and deprived of the most basic needs. Contrary to Ukrainian “patriots” on Russian TV, I was relieved to find an active, bustling city, with a very charming downtown, and thrilled to see a populace that, far from being cowed, harbors a firm belief in a better future, one outside the Ukraine. Despite Kiev’s total blockade, the city of Donetsk proper seems to have a reasonable assortment of goods and foodstuffs. Much of this seems to come from ever growing trade and cooperation with Russia, a bordering neighbor and largest trade partner of the “former”, pre-war Ukraine. In fact, while I was there, a conference on enhancing . . . READ MORE>>

Oliver Stone, Vladimir Putin

It’s the Russia, Stupid / By James George Jatras / Strategic Culture Foundation / June 18, 2017 / It’s another week in Washington and another horror show. This time it was Attorney General Jeff Sessions being grilled by Senators on whether, when, and how he might have met with certain Russians, or any Russian, or someone who might actually know a Russian. In addition to fishing for any inconsistency that could be used to support an accusation of obstruction of justice or perjury – the usual sleazy methodology of politically motivated investigations here – the transparent aim was to further poison the well on any possible initiative to improve ties with Moscow. The strategy appears to be working. The Russian Embassy in Washington confirms that for the first time since the Russian Federation’s founding the State Department did not send pro forma national day greetings. Perhaps the bureaucrats were afraid they would be tainted and themselves become targets of multiple investigations into «collusion» with the Kremlin. (Luckily, this intrepid Washington analyst has no qualms about such associations.) Or more likely, they themselves are part of the Russophobic mob undermining the White House. It has been reported that soon after the inauguration Trump sought to open dialogue with the Kremlin and set an early summit with President Vladimir Putin. This produced a hysterical counteraction from the Deep State. As reported by conservative columnist and former presidential candidate Patrick Buchanan: «The State Department was tasked with working out the details. “Instead, says Daniel Fried, the coordinator for sanctions policy, he received ‘panicky’ calls of ‘Please, my God, can you stop this?’. Operatives at State, disloyal to the president and hostile to the Russia policy on which he had been elected, collaborated with elements in Congress to sabotage any detente. They succeeded. ‘It would have been a win-win for Moscow,’ said Tom Malinowski of State, who boasted last week of his role in blocking a rapprochement with Russia. State employees sabotaged one of the principal policies for which Americans had voted, and they substituted their own.” So much for constitutional government and the rule of law. But now it gets even worse. This week Congress moved legislation designed to codify in statute sanctions imposed on Russia by Barack Obama over Ukraine and evidence-free charges of Russian election interference. Provisions for a presidential waiver, which are standard in any sanctions legislation, are unusually narrow. Congressional proponents are clear that their aim is to take the matter out of the president’s hands. Democrats, seemingly devoid of any other policy agenda or ideas, vow to keep banging the Russia drum through the 2018 Congressional elections. When all is said and done, there are lots of reasons the political class hates Trump. His heresies on immigration and trade are near the top of the list. But make no mistake: for the Deep State and its . . . READ MORE>>

(Full Report)

Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 06/11/2017 / DONi News / June 11, 2017 / Over the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed 61 violations of the ceasefire. In the Donetsk direction, the enemy targeted 11 localities’ areas with 91 artillery projectiles of 152mm and 122mm calibres, five rockets of MRLS BM-21 Grad, nine tank rounds, and 191 mortar shells of 120mm and 82mm calibres. In the Mariupol direction, there were shelled six localities’ areas, at which the enemy launched 13 tanks rounds and 44 mortar shells of 120mm and 82mm calibre. In the Gorlovka direction, six localities’ areas underwent shellings. The enemy made 37 tank rounds. A civilian was wounded and a soldier of the DPR Armed Forces suffered severe wounds as a result of the shellings. Six houses were damaged in the localities of Trudovskiye, Vasilyevka, and Sakhanka. The village of Krasny Partizan was de-energized. Ukraine keeps pursuing the policy of genocide and blockade of our Republic’s population. Ongoing shelling of the Yuzhnodonbassky water conduit’s 1st level pumping station in Vasilyevka locality serve as another confirmation to that. Yesterday, during a relatively calm period, our experts repaired the station’s out-of-service equipment damaged in the AFU shelling on June 9. But last night, since 22:30, Ukrainian units again started shelling the station, this time with the use of artillery and tanks. As a result of the Ukrainian bombardment, a transforming substation feeding the pumping station with power was damaged. At present the station remains de-energized. Ukrainian military and political authorities demonstrated absolute disregard for the population of our Republic and residents of the Kiev-controlled territories, trying to deprive them of access to drinking water in such a way. Let me remind you that the pumping station in Vasilyevka locality delivers water to five filtering stations, including four on the Ukrainian side, providing water to more than 40 localities inhabited by some 1.8 million people. I address citizens of Ukraine in the so-called ‘ATO’ zone. Ukrainian authorities are taking you hostages of this conflict, justifying their actions by fighting against ‘mythical’ terrorists. In fact, terrorists are those murdering civilians for the sake of achieving their pseudo-patriotic goals, as Ukrainian authorities do. It is no surprise the civilian population of Artyomovsk locality negatively takes terrorists from the Ukrainian army. Thus, according to our intelligence service, a 20-strong SBU operational group arrived at this settlement having as the main task operational measures aimed at preventing conflict escalation between civilians and Ukrainian servicemen, as well as rallies and protests against the acting authorities of Ukraine. The population of Ukraine does not need any ‘visa-free travel’, NATO troops are not welcome in their country! They want peace! —Vice-Commander of the DPR People’s Militia, Colonel Eduard Basurin, official translation by DONi News Agency

Ukrainian massive shelling in Donetsk causing casualties and destruction – depriving water from 1,8 million people / DONi News / June 11, 2017 / The Ukrainian armed forces have attacked again massively against the Donetsk People’s Republic. DPR Releases Information On Nazi Ukrainian Military Using Foreign Ammunition, Deadly Thermobaric Fuel Air Bombs From Poland, Unleashing Them On Civilian Areas, War Crimes / Novorossia Today / June 11, 2017 / The Nazi Ukrainian military used thermobaric shells and remote mines of Polish production in the shelling of the western outskirts of Donetsk. Fragments of the ammunition were presented today to journalists by the deputy commander of the DPR operational command, Eduard Basurin. ‘There is noted that on the day of Holy Trinity, June 4, the Ukrainian terrorists used on Staromikhaylovka thermobaric shells GTB-7S (a grenade is produced at the plant in the city of Sopot, Poland) from the grenade launcher RPG-7 and the use of 60mm mortars M73 of the NATO standard,’ said the commander. Basurin emphasized that the facts of the use of such ammunition by the Ukrainian units were indicated by fragments found on the sites of the shelling. ‘Previously, such mines and thermobaric shells were already used by the forces of Ukraine in Donbass during the shelling of the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics,’ he added.

Tillerson, Putin (–Russia Insider)

Tillerson: Trump Wants to Rebuild Relationship With Russia / By Jason Ditz / AntiWar.com / June 8, 2017 / Says Election Hacking Claim Mustn’t Impede Diplomacy / Visiting New Zealand today, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that President Trump has asked him to move forward with efforts to “rebuild” the US diplomatic relationship with Russia, which he described as currently “at a low point and deteriorating.” According to Tillerson, Trump wants to say the US-Russia relationship stabilize, and for trust to be rebuilt. He added that Trump insisted that the allegations surrounding election hacking by Russia mustn’t be allowed to impede the attempts to restore diplomatic ties. This interest is not new, and indeed President Trump made normalization of ties with Russia a major part of his 2016 election campaign. Virtually nothing positive has happened on that front since Trump’s inauguration, however. If anything, the Trump Administration had given the appearance in the past few months that the Russia rapprochement was wholly forgotten, with officials repeatedly insisting that there are no intentions of lifting US sanctions against Russia. This also comes less than a week after former State Department officials had bragged about derailing previous Trump efforts to normalize US-Russia ties, however, so it may well be that such intentions have been around for awhile, and they’re just trying to make something happen in the face of continuing opposition from people more comfortable with the US and Russia remaining enemies. “Putin Interviews” made the globalists go into hysterics / By D. Pavlenko / Katehon.com / June 6, 2017 / Oliver Stone’s movie “The Putin Interviews” breaks all clichés of western propaganda against Russia and its political leader. “The Putin Interviews” directed by famous American director Oliver Stone is coming out on June 12-15 2017, however, it made the Western media worry and get afraid that Western common people could see absolutely another Putin that differs from his image created by the anti-Russian propaganda. As it was expected, the most officious, globalist media criticized Stone for his attempt to “humanize an authoritarian Russian leader”. Especially, The Daily Beast well known for its frequently provocative anti-Russian rhetoric stood out in its critics. The published fragments of “The Putin Interviews” on the Internet show us that the president of Russia appears in Stone’s movie as absolutely simple person who drives a car, plays hockey, feeds horses and works out. However, the Western media used biased coverage of things that were interesting for their viewers who always cry listening stories about persecution of sodomites in Russia or reports about “Russian aggression” against “democratic” Ukraine or “freedom-loving, peaceful, moderate opposition” in Syria. For instance, a journalist from The Daily Beast called Oliver Stone’s movie “wildly irresponsible love letter to Vladimir Putin” in the headline. As well as that Stone is presented as not the best American journalist but rather a historian- revisionist and apologist of such “dictators” as Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and Vladimir Putin. Moreover, they remind Stone about his movie “Ukraine on Fire” telling about the Maida nans the coup d’état in 2014. According to the globalist magazine’s view, this movie is “ a bizarre slice of Kremlin propaganda”. “Stone not only fails to challenge Putin, but essentially cedes him the floor, allowing the cunning ex-KGB operative to spin more than the president’s toupee in a tornado. Putin denies Russia was the aggressor in virtually every global conflict, including the invasions of Georgia and Ukraine. He champions . . . READ MORE>>

Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 06/10/2017 / DONi News /June 10, 2017 / Over the past 24 hours the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed seventy ceasefire violations. In the Donetsk direction the enemy launched forty-seven projectiles of 152mm and 122mm caliber, twenty-six tank-shells, 443 mortar-shells of 120mm and 82mm caliber on the areas of eleven localities. In the Mariupol direction the areas of four localities underwent shellings. The enemy launched four projectiles with MRLS ‘Grad’, six tank-shells and seventy-eight mortar-shells of 120mm and 82mm caliber on the area of the locality of Bezymennoye. In the Gorlovka direction the areas of the localities of Zaitsevo, Zheleznaya Balka and Shirokaya Balka underwent shellings with different types of grenade launchers and small arms. As a result of shellings on the part of Ukraine’s criminals a civilian – Gubashov V.F. born in 1961 was wounded. Six houses were damaged in the localities of Aleksandrovka and Trudovskiye. Besides, in the locality of Trudosvkiye 27 electrical substations were de-energized. At present time, repair works are carried out. As we had warned earlier, the Ukrainian side committed provocations in the vicinity of the locality of AVDEYEVKA. Changing their own plans, Ukrainian punishers shelled not the locality of Avdeyevka, but Marinka where two civilians were wounded. We don’t exclude that our disclosure of the enemy’s plans for shelling the locality of Avdeyevka on June 8-12 prevented death of the city’s residents but didn’t stop its realization by Ukraine’s criminals in full. We’re collecting an evidential base of Ukrainian crimes. Thus, according to the information from local residents and to data of our intelligence, the shelling of KAMENKA locality on June 8 was conducted by the Right Sector nationalists being a part of the 92nd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the statement made by a source, in a brigade headquarters, the shelling was unsanctioned. Concerning this fact the command is carrying out internal investigation. It’s not excluded that the Right Sector Gunmen will have only punitive reprimands as it was after the same shelling of the residential areas of Bezymennoye Locality on May 9 by the units of the regiment ‘Azov’. The units of the Armed Forces of the Republic keep observing the Minsk agreements and improve their professionalism. Driving, fire and tactics trainings are held according to a combat training plan. —Vice-Commander of the DPR People’s Militia, Colonel Eduard Basurin, official translation by DONi News Agency

Donetsk Defense: Weekly Situation Report 06/09/2017 / DONi News / June 9, 2017 / Good day! Last week, in the formations and military units of the Armed Forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic, complex tactical and combat trainings of motorized rifle, tank and artillery units were conducted, aimed at improving the skills of conducting defensive operations under the conditions of direct contact with the enemy. Over the past 24 hours the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed 54 ceasefire violations. The enemy launched 307 projectiles of 152mm and 122mm caliber, 420 mortar-shells of 120mm and 82mm caliber, 67 tank-shells, 10 anti-tank guided missiles onto the territory of the Republic. In the Petrovsky district of Donetsk City there were damaged seven house-buildings and gas supply on Lugovsky Street. Sakhanka Locality was left without electricity. Over the past 24 hours when defending the territory of the Republic, one serviceman of the DPR Armed Forces perished. Donbass War Escalates as Kiev Seizes Gray Zones / Introduction by Kennedy Applebaum / Quemado Institute (Source: News Front) / June 9, 2017 / Grey Zones a Consequence of Outright Kremlin Betrayal / As the News Front article below confirms, the Ukrainian Armed Forces [UAF] continue daily to invade the Donetsk and Lugansk Peoples Republics [DPR/LPR]. Over the past few weeks, Kiev forces have stepped up their advances into the so-called “Grey Zones,” with most of the latest invasions occuring north and northwest of Lugansk. These aggressive military ventures are in gross violation of the Minsk Agreements. The “Grey Zones” consist of a narrow strip along the length of the contact line, from Shirokino on the Azov Sea to the Russian border east of Lugansk. In February 2015, at the time of the signing in Minsk, these zones were held by the Novorossiya Armed Forces, now referred to as the Donetsk and Lugansk militias. The one exception was the Debaltsevo pocket, which was liberated by the NAF a few days later. However, according DPR President Alexander Zakharchenko’s proclamation at the time of the Debaltsevo victory, the de facto contact line included that city in the territory of the DPR. This was Zakharchenko’s stated condition for signing the Minsk accords. The Minsk document does not specify the location of the contact line. The contact line is assumed to be the dividing line between UAF and NAF ground positions as of February 2015. Thus, the fact that the NAF held the Gray Zones means these zones officially belong to the DPR/LPR. What the Minsk Agreement do specify are the lines behind which heavy weapons must be withdrawn. These lines are in part measured from the de facto military positions as of September 2014, which are close to but not the same as those of February 2015. Kiev takes advantage of this ambiguity to claim their alleged right to the Grey Zones. The Grey Zones did not always exist, and have nothing to do with the Minsk Agreements. These nether regions were created in July 2015 by Kremlin decree, following Angela Merkel’s demand that Vladimir Putin use his “considerable influence” to rein in the Novorossiya Armed Forces. Putin kindly complied, sending his agent Valdislav Surkov to pressure Zakharchenko into withdrawing unilaterally from the contact line. . . . READ MORE>>

Ukraine doesn’t care about Minsk, it needs war – Alexander Zakharchenko / DONi News / June 9, 2017 / According to the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Kiev needs a war, not the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Today, on June 8, the DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko answered the journalists’ questions during his working visit to the Donbass Greenhouses state enterprise in Zugres. First of all, media representatives were concerned about the situation of the nine-year-old boy Vladislav Zaichenko from the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, who had been injured in the AFU shelling on June 5 and was in critical condition at the moment. “Under my control and that of the city administration head, the head of the Petrovsky district is engaged in providing any necessary assistance to this boy. We will do whatever is needed,” said Alexander Zakharchenko, commenting on the situation of the wounded child. The Head of the Republic also spoke about the issue of material support of large families of the DPR enterprises’ employees under state receivership. “The programme for providing material assistance to large families is ongoing. Already next week, 40 large families of the enterprises’ employees are to receive material aid in the amount of 10,000 rubbles, and those of the Yenakiyevo Steel Plant and Gorlovka Stirol will receive food sets,” said Alexander Zakharchenko. The DPR Head commented on a possible aggravation on the contact line due to the tense situation that had developed over the past two days in the neighbouring Lugansk People’s Republic, where the AFU made several attempts to attack and break through the defense line of the LPR People’s Militia in the vicinity of Zhelobok locality. “Aggravation was never over in our Republic’s contact line sector. Yesterday and the day before the situation deteriorated dramatically in the LPR, but we face such battles every day. The enemy has intensified shelling, because Kiev needs war, and thus they are struggling to unleash it, they do not care about Minsk,” said the DPR Head, responding to journalists’ questions about possible deterioration of the military situation in the Republic. Donetsk bombed again by Kiev forces / News Front / June 9, 2017 / Donetsk, DNR. The conflict continues but in “low voltage doses” of shelling best described as genocidal in nature. Reports from Eduard Basurin, Pavel Semchuk and David Simpson in Donetsk. Day and all night here in Donetsk, the Ukrainian artillery fires at random but specific targets. This fire is 24/7, day in and day out. This fire is not a true barrage of artillery like an all out attack would have, it is a shot or two at one house, than 10 or 20 or 30 minutes later a shot or two at another house near or far from the first target. From the DNR Ministry of Information, for the past day the Ukrainian armed forces have 54 times violated the ceasefire regime. All the shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces have hit twenty cities and towns in the Republic. The UAF forces violating the Minsk accords have utilized these weapons systems in their criminal activity; tank cannon fire, artillery shelling, mortar fire, BMP and BTR attacks, Sagger ATGM missiles, AGS grenade launchers and small arms. OSCE SMM in Donbass (–Sputnik/AFP/Dimitar Dilkoff)

Latest from the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM), based on information received as of 19:30, 7 June 2017 / Osce.org / June 8, 2017 / In Donetsk region the Mission recorded more ceasefire violations compared with the previous reporting period. In Luhansk region the flare-up in ceasefire violations recorded by the SMM in the previous reporting period continued in the same areas – Sentianivka, Krymske and Zholobok – west and north-west of Luhansk, and involved multiple launch rocket systems. The use of weapons proscribed by the Minsk agreements reached a level last recorded by the Mission on 23 March 2017. The SMM heard small-arms fire close to where it was flying an unmanned aerial vehicle near Zaichenko. The Mission continued monitoring the disengagement areas near Stanytsia Luhanska, Zolote and Petrivske; it recorded ceasefire violations inside the Stanytsia Luhanska disengagement area on the night of 6-7 June and near the Zolote disengagement area. Its access remained restricted there and elsewhere.* In “DPR”-controlled Oleksandrivske armed men aggressively restricted the SMM’s freedom of movement. The Mission continued for the second day to monitor demining and facilitate repairs at Donetsk Filtration Station. The SMM monitored a border area not under government control in Novoazovsk. It observed protests in Kyiv and Odessa and a gathering involving religious communities in Ivano-Frankivsk. . . . READ MORE>>

Kiev again fails to disengage in Stanitsa Luganskaya – LPR People’s Militia (PHOTOS) / Lugansk Media Center / June 8, 2017 / Ukraine has again failed the disengagement of forces and hardware on the contact line in Stanitsa Luganskaya area envisioned by the Minsk agreements, LPR People’s Militia spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andrey Marochko said. “Today, Ukrainian side has shown yet again that it is not ready to fulfil the commitments it undertook in Minsk. We did not see a white signal flare confirming their readiness to pull back forces and hardware,” Marochko said at a checkpoint in the area. “We fired a white flare and were about to fire a green one, but didn’t do it as Ukraine had not responded in kind. I wish to officially state that Ukrainian side is not meeting its commitments,” the Lieutenant Colonel said. Earlier, LPR People’s militia said it was ready for mutual disengagement of forces and hardware in Stanitsa Luganskaya. LPR and DPR representatives at a meeting in Minsk on 21 September 2016 initialled a framework agreement on partial pullback of forces in Donbass, that was also signed by representatives of Ukraine, Russia and OSCE. The document provides for three disengagement areas around Zolotoye, Stanitsa Luganskaya and Petrovskoe (DPR territory). Heads of LPR and DPR Igor Plotnitskiy and Alexander Zakharchenko signed the agreement on 22 and 23 September, respectively. The disengagement was completed in Petrovskoye and Zolotoye areas. Kiev failed to pull back its forces in Stanitsa Luganskaya area for more than 40 times. The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on 12 February 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by its 2202 Resolution and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures. The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

He described the situation in the following way, “For the first time in recent European history, we had a government in a European country with a Nazi element.” He also expressed the Ukrainian regime as a “puppet” of the US and compared the US political colonization of Ukraine to NATO’s use of Greece for its strategic geo-political purposes. Ukraine resumes offensive against Donbass – 4 localities shelled in past day / By Inessa Sinchougova / Fort Russ / June 7, 2017 / The Ukrainian Armed forces have restarted intensive shelling against at least four villages, as has been reported continually over the past day by DNR News (locally based.) Under attack are the city of Stakhanov, village of Frunze, Donetskiy township, as well as the Kirovsk city administration. Kiev’s forces have caused ‘great destruction’ to Kirovsk, as reported by the official representative of the People’s Militia of Lugansk, Colonel Andrew Marochko. “This morning we witnessed the shelling of Kirovsk by Kiev security forces. The shelling occurred in the center of the city, causing great destruction. At the moment, the armed forces are continuing to shell the outskirts of the city” – he said. The head of administration, Gennady Karcev, added that the the Ukrainian side opened fire on a new industrial plant which was ready to be opened. “Ukrainian forces have fired on the Tsentrokuz factory. It is noteworthy that this plant has just completed reconstruction work and was preparing to start operating.” – said the head of administration.

Ukraine-Controlled Localities Bombed by Kiev – Ukrainian Local Councils Seized by Nationalists – Memory of Killed Children of Donbass Shot by Ukrainian Military / Voice of Donbass – Novorossia Vision / June 8, 2017 / On June 1, 2017, another ceasefire was announced in Donbass. Few doubted that this «truce» would not last long, but this time the Ukrainian side chose a particularly cynical way to violate it. Throughout the last week of May, Kiev is carrying outparticularly intensive bombardments in the Donetsk direction, daily launching about 100 122 and 152mm artillery shells, hundreds of 82 and 120mm mortar shells, and using tanks, BMPs and grenade launchers. On May 27, in the Gorlovka direction, about 40 shells of MLRS «Grad» are also launched from the Ukrainian side. As a result of the shelling from the Ukrainian side, two residential houses are damaged in the DPR, one of the localities is completely de-energized, and an elderly woman, born in 1941, is wounded. Nevertheless, the Republics are doing everything possible to restore the destroyed houses and infrastructure as soon as possible. In Makeevka, a satellite city of Donetsk, a new gym is opened. In Stakhanov, a city in the LPR, a restored bus station is opened. In Donetsk, which even before the coup in Kiev was called «a city of a million roses», the number of roses planted everywhere reaches 2 millions. Meanwhile, in Ukraine, in Kharkov, a NATO-Ukraine professional development program for civil law enforcement personnel starts. Perhaps, NATO countries intend to share with Ukraine the experience of not preventing terrorist attacks. In western Ukraine, another Orthodox church of the Moscow Patriarchate is damaged. On May 28, the shelling from the Ukrainian side disrupts the gas and power supply to Kominternovo, a city in the south of the DPR, as well as causes damage to two houses, in Gorlovka in the north of the DPR and near Donetsk. On the same day, the Ukrainian military launch a massive artillery attack on Krasnogorovka, located in the Donetsk region and controlled by them, as a result of which civilians are killed. The Kiev authorities, as well as the Ukrainian media that «happened» to be at the right place and at the right time, immediately accuse of the shelling the DPR army. However, the subsequent analysis of photo and video . . . READ MORE>>

Ukraine escalates an armed conflict in Donbass / By Auslander / The Saker / The Situation in Gorlovka, DNR: A few days ago we had some guests. One guest brought a friend with them, a person from a village near Gorlovka. At first the person was quite reticent about speaking of anything in front of me when the person understood very quickly that I was not Russian, I was from ‘the other side’. However, after I spoke to this person with VCO translating so nothing was misunderstood this person understood from my specific questions about certain areas in and around Gorlovka that I knew more of the real situation than most. To be blunt the situation in and around Gorlovka is very bad. All day and all night, every day and every night, the Ukrainian artillery fires at random but specific targets. This fire is 24/7, day in and day out. The fire is not a true barrage of artillery like an all out attack would have, it is a shot or two at one village, than 10 or 20 or 30 minutes later a shot or two at another village near or far from the first target. This random artillery fire goes on from Sanzharivka on the extreme east of the Donetsk Peoples Republic (hereafter referred to as DNR) lines at the Lughansk Peoples Republic (hereafter referred to as LNR) western border all the way down to Sakhanka within 3 km. of the Sea of Azov coast. Look at this map: and you will see how long that line is and you will see how thin the DNR lines are compared to the Ukrainian lines. The Ukrainian fire is directed at specific houses in each village, moving to another house after the targeted house is destroyed. They can, and do, go from house to house in a particular street and when all the houses on that street are severely damaged or destroyed they move to another street and start the process over again. Primary targets in a village at the start of the fire is infrastructure, gas lines, water pumping stations, electric transformers and in the case of flats buildings the above ground, as is normal, hot water pipes for heating of the flats buildings. Next is every shop, store, kiosk, petrol station, heating plant, government facility no matter what the size or function, electric substations and gas substations and pumping plants. Water purification facilities are of particular interest to the Ukrainians and these facilities get special attention. Drones supplied by The United States of America and the Federal Republic of Germany are used as spotters to correct and direct this continuous artillery fire. Some are shot down by DNR forces and armed locals. This act is almost guaranteed to bring an immediate visit from OSCE, those worthies who are supposedly monitoring both sides to make sure they comply with the Minsk 1 and Minsk 2 agreements. More on OSCE later. This person left their village near Gorlovka in summer of last year. This person has lost a bother, an uncle and a 17 . . . READ MORE>> [More videos available at source.]

Petro Poroshenko, Sebastian Kurz, Kiev, January 2017 (–vienna.mfa.gov.ua)

It became known why Poroshenko had sent Ukrainian soldiers to death / Novorossia Vision / June 8, 2017 / Today, Poroshenko once again stated the need to introduce an armed police mission to Donbass, which the LDPR had categorically opposed. Poroshenko announced this initiative at a meeting with Sebastian Kurz, the OSCE chairman and the federal minister for Europe, integration and foreign affairs of Austria. ‘A particular attention was paid to the growth of cases of intimidation of the OSCE observers by pro-Russian militants… The head of state urged the Austrian Chairmanship to intensify consultations in Vienna, regarding the deployment of the OSCE armed police mission in Donbass,’ said the press service of Poroshenko. ‘Well, everything is clear now… For the sake of this appeal today, over 10 soldiers of the AFU were killed. How does he live in this world? How does this fat, crumpled muzzle sleep? The Ukrainian media, the authorities’ trained dogs, reported, ‘The militants has gone on the offensive’. It’s a lie. The AFU have occupied the gray zone, taken several heights. I have written this for idiots whom their embroidered shirt has pinched the carotid artery. Sons of ALL MPs are safe, and your children are now under artillery fire,’ commented the situation Irina Lashkevich, a war correspondent working on Donbass.

Zakharchenko: “Russian language is great weapon of Donetsk in struggle for its identity” / DONi News / June 6, 2017 / The DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko visited the opening of the XI International Festival “Great Russian Word” yesterday. The event was held in the Yubileiny Concert Hall in the center of Yalta (the Republic of Crimea). “This is a significant event in the cultural life of our country. Many very significant guests come here, and this year the forum has raised the bar a lot. May we always succeed,” the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksenov said in his welcoming address. The honorary guests of the festival were also the LPR Head, Igor Plotnitsky, the chairman of the DPR People’s Council Denis Pushilin, the deputies of the DPR Ministers’ Council Dmitry Trapeznikov and Alexander Timofeyev, the State Duma deputies, Russian senators. In total, the festival gathered more than 2500 people, including 17 of Russian language and literature teachers from the DPR. Long before the start of the holiday, the organizers arranged a small stage near the concert hall where the creative collectives of the Crimea performed for the guests of the peninsula, residents and forum participants. Opening the festival, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko read out a congratulatory letter on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Your significant project has acquired good traditions. It project proved itself as an authoritative platform for professional discussion of the preservation and development of the Russian language, as well as enhancing its role in world integration processes,” the Speaker of the Federation Council quoted the Russian leader’s saying. The Head of the DPR spoke about integration as well. According to him, the Russian language is one of the connecting threads of the Donetsk land and Russia. “I am a military man and I perceive many things from this position. I understand that the Russian word is really great and multifaceted. But for me, the word is, first of all, a weapon. And this weapon can often be more dangerous than Grads, Smerches and Uragans. According to him, today “Donbass is gradually returning home” and today’s festival is extremely important for Donetsk. “It is at such events that the most powerful weapon, which is language, is being honed, hardened and strengthened and is becoming more never-failing,” he noted. He recalled that for 20 years, Kiev had been conducting forced Ukrainization in Donbass, adding that they failed to take away the Russian language, as well as Russian culture from Donetsk.

Peace, Open Your Eyes: Inhabitants of Donbass Demand Kiev Stop Murders in DPR and LPR / Riafan.ru / Translated by Quemado Institute / June 6, 2017 / DONETSK / The action “Peace, open your eyes,” the participants of which demand that Kiev stop the bloodshed among civilians of Donbass, took place on Pushkin Boulevard near the house of the Council of the Donetsk People’s Republic, a correspondent from the Federal News Agency [Riafan.ru] reports. In recent days the situation in the republic has worsened, which led to significant casualties among civilians. On the day before yesterday, serious injuries were received by eight-year-old Vlad Zaichenko, whose mother was killed in the same shelling, and whose father was killed earlier. Vlad’s photo has stirred up the Internet, and people gathered literally in a few hours to demand from the Kiev authorities to stop the murders of the people of Donbass. “We want to call the world community and draw their attention. Every day, inhabitants of the republic perish. Yesterday in the Yasinovataya region, seven civilians were injured. How long can this go on? ” asked Roman Troshin, one of the organizers of the action, addressing the audience. People were holding photographs of Vlad, who is now in the hospital, and posters urging the Ukrainian Armed Forces and personally Petro Poroshenko to stop terror against civilians and especially the children of Donbass. This little eight-year-old angel was left an orphan. Today we, all mothers, women, pray that he remains alive, that our doctors have the skill and strength. That he himself had the strength to remain alive. And he’s an orphan now. And the world community does not pay attention to the blood of our civilians. Does not react in any way,” said a resident of one of the shelled areas of Donetsk, when she was given the floor.

LPR People’s Militia repulses attack by Ukrainian squad / Lugansk Media Center / June 5, 2017 / LUGANSK / LPR People’s Militia has repulsed an attack by Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage squad, said LPR People’s Militia spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andrey Marochko. “Ukrainian armed forces continue reconnaissance and sabotage activity along the line of contact. One of such raids ended up tragically outside Kalinovka.” “Unprofessional and ill-considered actions led to 10 enemy soldiers approaching our positions; People’s Militia reacted immediately and suppressed the squad with retaliatory fire. Enemy’s losses amounted to two killed and six injured, who were left on the battlefield. The unit’s command tried to conceal this episode from its command. We call the ‘ATO’ command to show good will, to stick to international humanitarian norms, and to permit volunteers to take away the bodies and pass them to their families.” The Contact Group participants at the meeting in Minsk on 29 March adopted a statement on comprehensive ceasefire in Donbass from 1 April ahead of Easter holidays. However, Kiev forces only held fire for about an hour. The members of the Contact Group have announced ceasefire for more than ten times since autumn 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with heavy artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn in accordance with the Minsk agreements. Donbass News Round-Up: Ukraine drags on “creeping offensive” while economy collapses / Fort Russ / June 5, 2017 / Ukraine continues to violate Minsk, seize neutral territories: Kiev’s punitive forces have occupied almost the entire “gray zone” between the Donetsk urban settlement and the village of Zhelobok (on the Kirovsk front), approaching the position of the People’s Militia of the People’s Republic of Lugansk at a distance of 600 meters. Previously, the APU had occupied several square kilometers of this “gray zone”. According to a soldier of the People’s Militia of LPR codenamed “Rome”: “Meter by meter the UAF is approaching under the cover of shelling. Under the cover of mortars, Ukrainian troops move up from their positions. After night comes, they set up temporary shooting points and start firing. From our positions, of course, this is all in a hurry, so they don’t shoot at us at all, but at the village of civilians. Thus, the ‘gray zone’ in the area of Donetsk and Zhelobka does not actually exist anymore.” Meanwhile, abiding by the Minsk Agreements, the People’s [militia] cannot open fire on the advancing enemy despite having every opportunity to expel the UAF from the gray zone. To recall, just the other day, the main propaganda mouthpiece of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Tymchuk, announced the readiness of the UAF to seize the territory of the DPR and the LPR within a few days. These words and the seizure of the “gray zones” confirm suspicions of a forthcoming Ukrainian offensive. Fountains re-started in Pervomaisk despite war: On the night of May 28th-29th, the territory of Pervomaisk (LPR) was subjected to another shelling barrage by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. READ MORE>> Quemado Institute comments: The idea that the militias can’t open fire on the advancing enemy because of the Minsk Agreements is not exactly right and sounds like Kremlin propaganda. The Minsk Agreements do not require a unilateral ceasefire. The grey zones were initially held by the DPR/LPR and should remain so. In 2015, Putin and his strong-arm aid, Vladislav Surkov, put pressure on DPR/LPR Presidents Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky to withdraw from the contact line unilaterally. Many observers considered this a betrayal by Putin to appease the West. Note that the Minsk agreements did not require withdrawal of troops or light weapons from the contact line, just heavy weapons. The contact line was defined by the de facto positions of the Novorossiya Armed Forces at the time of the signing in Minsk. It included the grey zones.

[Enemy report:] Ukrainian Politician: Ukrainian Armed Forces are gradually moving deeper into the Donbas / UAWire / June 2, 2017 / The Ukrainian Armed Forces are gradually moving deeper into the uncontrolled territory of the Donbas, driving separatists out of the so-called “gray zone.”, as reported by the Deputy Minister for the Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons, George Tuka, in an interview with the site 112 Ukraine TV channel. He stressed that the territories occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces belong to Ukraine in accordance with the Minsk agreements. “We talking are about the Ukrainian Armed Forces taking control of Ukrainian territories which are called ‘gray zones.’ From the standpoint of increasing the territory controlled by the central government – yes, such territory is increasing. Gradually. But we must bear in mind that all these territories, which we have taken under control, are established by the Minsk agreements. And regretfully, we quickly lost some of the territories that were established by those agreements, such as Debaltseve. Neither the separatists nor their masters in the Kremlin feel any remorse over this. I believe that everything we are doing is absolutely right. I hope for further success,” the deputy minister said. On May 23rd, military journalist Andriy Tsaplienko said that in the area of the Svitlodarsk, the Ukrainian military advanced almost a kilometer. [Source: uawire.org/news/ukrainian-politician-ukrainian-armed-forces-are-gradually-moving-deeper-into-donbas] Quemado Institute comments: At least two friendly reports, from Fort Russ and News Front, confirmed the advance into the grey zone of the Ukrainain Army last week. This is the first we have ever heard that these territories, according to Minsk, should belong to Kiev. To our knowledge, the grey zones were held by the DPR/LPR at the time of the signing of Minsk, and so should remain under the control of Donetsk and Lugansk. The “grey zones”, which did not exist at the time Minsk was signed, were created later when, due to Putin-Surkov-Kremlin pressure supported by Russian officers of the JCCC, the DPR/LPR militias, then called the Novorossiya Armed Forces, were ordered to unilaterally withdraw from these contact line areas. Since, then, residents have been left stranded in these zones, with no protection against Ukrainian aggression, some people unable even to reach a grocery store.

This was stated by the adviser to the chief of the General staff of Ukraine, ex-leader of “Right sector” Nazi Dmitry Yarosh, according to Ukrainian News. However, radical noted that so to release the Crimea will be difficult. “I understand that to release the Crimea by militarily after Russia turned it into a huge military base, will be difficult. But, at the time, when we are ready, instant military operation in the occupied Eastern regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions — we can do it,” said Yarosh. According to Bandera, the most important is the political will of the government, not the expectation that “someone will come and help us.”

So Much for Minsk Agreements: Ukraine Wastes Over 20% of GDP on War in Donbass / Sputnik / June 4, 2017 / A report by the Sydney-based Institute for Economics & Peace has revealed that in 2016, Ukraine lost over $66 billion, equivalent to over 20% of its GDP, due to the ongoing civil war in its southeast. According to the Australian institute’s 2017 Global Peace Index report, Ukraine is number 19 in the top twenty countries hardest hit in terms of the ‘economic cost of violence’, a measure representing the direct and indirect costs of violence. The institute estimates that Ukraine lost the equivalent of $66.749 billion (PPP), or 20.4% of its GDP, on the direct and indirect costs associated with violence in 2016. Other countries in the top twenty include Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea and Saudi Arabia. Ukraine’s total economic cost of violence last year is thought to have amounted to $1,571 (ppp) for every man, woman and child. For the record, Ukraine’s estimated GDP per capita in 2016 amounted to $8,230. In nominal terms, GDP per capital was just $2,194. In the same report, Ukraine was ranked among the top ten countries in the world in terms of the number and intensity of ongoing civil and international wars. Ukraine took 12th in the world in terms of overall militarization, outranked only by other states facing ongoing civil conflicts, plus major regional and global powers including the UK, France, the US, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Russia. . . . EU allocates 50 million Euros to Ukraine – Donbass concerned over how it will be used / Fort Russ / June 4, 2017 / A representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, expressed doubt that the money which the EU plans to allocate to Ukraine will go to the restoration of Donbass. Earlier, First Deputy Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Iryna Gerashchenko, with reference to the Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and EU Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, announced that the European Commission will allocate Kiev another 50 million euros for “humanitarian and infrastructure projects.” “If the money was spent on rehabilitation and construction of new infrastructure, we, of course, would only supported that. But, unfortunately, the corruption component in the Ukraine and a number of other criminal actions on the part of this country makes us doubt that this money will be used for its intended purpose, as opposed to for military purposes against the inhabitants of the area, “- said Pushilin. In addition, he noted that the EU has offered money to the Ukrainian side is not surprising, “we regularly meet with engagement, double standards,” added Pushilin. “The destruction which has already been inflicted on our territory by the Ukrainian army has largely been neglected by European leaders and organizations so far,” he added.

50 million euros for Donbass; there is a catch / News Front / June 4, 2017 / MINSK / The European Union decided after a tour of the occupied [really non-“occupied” –QI editor] territories of the Donetsk People’s Republic and associated territory, to fork over another $50 million dollars to “help Donbass people.” The only problem is, not one cent of that money will ever arrive in the Donbass. The Ukrainian President’s Humanitarian Envoy at the Minsk peace talks regarding the war in the Donbass, Iryna Herashchenko stated on Facebook that the European Union Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn made an announcement about the consideration of the allocation of 50 million euros to Ukraine for humanitarian and infrastructure projects. “Today, Commissioner Hahn has announced that allocation of another 50 million is being considered, which should also be spent on humanitarian and infrastructure projects,” Herashchenko wrote. The funds will be sent to Kiev for Donbass, and considering Ukraine is the single most corrupt nation on earth, it does not take an intelligent person to figure out this money will never be handed over to DNR Head Zakharchenko or LNR Head Plotnitsky. It will be hauled off shore to bank accounts in Cyprus, Switzerland, Israel, Panama, Dominican Republic and Canada. Herashchenko noted that in recent years the European Commission has allocated about 400 million euros to support Ukraine, especially through humanitarian support. Of that amount, 1.3 million was allocated to help Mariupol, which the European Commissioner visited. Hahn visited Kiev, occupied Mariupol and Dnepropetrovsk. One can only wonder how much he would give the real Donbass if he saw the damage his Euros have financed here over the last three years.

Yandex closes offices in Kiev, Odessa / DONi News / June 4, 2017 / The largest Russian Internet company Yandex has decided to close its offices in Kiev and Odessa, said Oсhir Manjikov, director of public relations at Yandex. “The company “Yandex.Ukraine” is included in the sanctions list and in fact cannot conduct business on the territory of Ukraine. In particular, all accounts of the company are blocked, and we cannot pay salaries to employees,” Mandzhikov said. He added that the employees would be offered to continue working in the company’s offices in other countries. Since May 17, Kiev has expanded the list of sanctions against Russian citizens and organizations, including forbidding Ukrainian users access to Yandex resources. The Security Service of Ukraine carried out searches at the company’s offices in Kiev and Odessa within the framework of the “treason” case. The SBU suspects the leadership of Yandex.Ukraine in illegally collecting and transferring personal data of Ukrainians to Russia. The department claims that the information was passed on to Russian special services “for planning, organizing and conducting reconnaissance, sabotage, information-subversive operations to the detriment of the sovereignty of Ukraine.”

Lucky Man, The Book about Texas in Donbass / Indiegogo / June 4, 2017 / My name is Russell Bentley, callsign “Texas”. I came to Donbass in December 2014 to defend the good people of Donetsk People’s Republic from Ukrainian neo-nazis and war criminals. I spent my first 6 months as a soldier in the Essence of Time combat unit, defending Donetsk Airport and the village of Spartak. I have written a book about it and need financing to publish. No one hates war more than soldiers. I want to explain what we did and why. This book is not a “war story”, it is a human story. If I had to describe myself in one word, it would be “Poet”. That is my true nature. If I had to describe myself in two words, they would be “Lucky Man”. My dispatches from Donbass have been described by writers and editors as a mix of Ernest Hemingway and Jack London with a dash of Hunter S. Thompson. Now, I need some financial support to publish my book about what it was like to come 10,000 kilometers to help defend people I had never met before, underdogs in a real war in Russian Winter, fighting against an army of cut-throat nazis. Russians against Russians: Ukraine’s new offensive in Donbass / By Eduard Popov / Translated by Inessa Sinchougova / Fort Russ / June 1, 2017 / EXCERPTS: Today, a well-known political scientist, an expert in the Moscow Carnegie Foundation, Dmitry Oreshkin, said that the war in the Donbass is over. According to him, shooting and provocations are possible, but neither Ukraine, nor the republics of Donbass will advance. However, the head of information and propaganda portal of military intelligence of Ukraine (GUR), and deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmitry Tymchuk disagrees. According to him, Oreshkin and other political scientists who claim that the war is over, are rushing to conclusions. Neither of the sides have achieved their goals, which means that there are still grounds for resuming full-fledged military operations. I fully agree with this opinion. The recent weeks and months of aggravation of the situation in the Donbass leave little reason for optimism. I will quote excerpts from the statistics of the People’s Militia of the DPR about the shelling of the territory of the republic in the last few days. May 24: The Armed Forces of the Ukraine (AFU) violated the ceasefire 55 times. 16 DPR settlements fell into the zone of bombardment. The Ukrainian military used rocket launcher systems (MLRS), artillery, tanks (types of weapons that are located near the line of delineation of sides and are prohibited by the Minsk agreements), mortars, anti-tank missile systems, armoured vehicles and armoured personnel carriers, grenade launchers, and small arms. May 28: The AFU violated the ceasefire 64 times, firing at 19 settlements of the republic. As a result of bombardment, 9 residential buildings were damaged in Staromikhailovka, Zaitsevo and Dokuchaevsk. May 29: on the Gorlovsky and Donetsk tracks, the AFU shelled Zaitsevo, Ozerianovka, Red Partizan. In the south-west of Gorlovka, Ukrainian reconnaissance drones were seen. In the direction of Donetsk, the AFU fired on the area of the Yasinovat checkpoint, Spartak, the area of the former airport, the neighbourhood of the “Volvo Center”, Trudovsky. The fire came from artillery with the caliber of 122 mm and 120 mm mortars (prohibited by the Minsk Agreements)…. According to intelligence reports of the Ukrainian Democratic Republic, Ukrainian punishers planned a “bloody” provocation to Avdeevka (a small town north of Donetsk), similar to the recent shelling of Krasnogorovka. According to Eduard Basurin, deputy commander of the operational command of the DPR, the shooting of Avdeevka is planned to be carried out in the same way as the shelling of Krasnogorovka, having also utilised two directions of fire. Ammunition has already been brought in. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the population of Avdeevka supports the DPR almost universally. The author of these lines himself lived in this city for quite a long time; here I have relatives and friends. There is no sense in shelling a city which is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the DPR. To shell the city remains the desire of the military and political leadership of Ukraine. The fighting in this city at the end of January and beginning of February gave President Poroshenko the ability to declare to the whole world the humanitarian disaster in Avdeevka. The Ukraine is not the first to use . . . READ FULL REPORT>> [Substantial analysis at source.]

UAF Major Describes the War in Donbass: We Aren’t Fighting Against Russians, We Are Killing Our Own People / Russophile.org (Stalker Zone) / June 1, 2017 / The war in Donbass horrifies most people, especially those who because of it have lost already much: family, friends, relations with relatives because of disputes about “separatism”, businesses, hopes for the future. Unfortunately, it has happened to many in this war, that every resident of Ukraine has lost something. However bloodshed isn’t going to stop, Kiev continues to take conscripts and to send them to the anti-terrorist operation, to “defend” the Motherland with submachine guns in hands. The former Soviet officer, and nowadays Major of the UAF Vladimir O. who returned on rotation to Kiev, recently spoke about the situation on the contact line in Donbass, reports “Odna Rodyna”. The serviceman said that he, at first, as well as many former soldiers in Ukraine, received the instruction to go to a military registration and enlistment office where it was suggested to sign a contract and to go to the anti-terrorist operation zone, which he agreed to. Money and his position were the reason for doing it. Then the UAF promised to him a decent reward for it, and his small business became unprofitable, so in order to feed his family he went. “There was no feeling that you were going to kill your own [people -Stalker Zone ed.]?” asked the correspondent of “Odna Rodyna”. “Well, of course there was, and it didn’t disappear. But, on the one hand, the TV ate all brains with ‘aggression’, and on the another – Crimea was dexterously snatched, and also in 2015 the patriotic sentiments in the soul boiled over – how to admit that we were slapped in the face in Ilovaisk, Zelenopolye, and in Debaltsevo. Understanding that we aren’t fighting against Russians came in several months, and I saw personally how ours hammer peaceful Donbass people,” answered the Major of the UAF. Also he noted that he often hears how responsibility for shelling allegedly lies not on the UAF, but on unclear divisions, like the voluntary battalion “Right Sector” or the Georgian jackals. According to him, it is the truth, but partially, as it is the Army who generally beats with artillery. Vladimir considers that gunners should pray for forgiveness of their sins, and especially their commanders who give orders.

Administration of the republic’s Novoazov district reported electricity and gas supplies’ disruptions after the shelling. Since autumn 2014, the Contact Group on the settlement in Donbass has agreed more than ten ceasefires but none lasted for long, with the parties accusing each other of breaking them down. Participants in the Contact Group’s meeting on March 29 agreed yet another ceasefire starting from April 1. However, according to Donbass’ self-proclaimed republics (Lugansk and Donetsk), this ceasefire did not stay for long either, as Ukraine broke it down in less than an hour. According to verified reports, two females and one male have been injured as a result of the attack, he wrote. QI Editor’s Note: Miquel Puertas is an Italian journalist who has spent the last 9 months in Donetsk and, according to his posts yesterday, has yet to see a Russian soldier: “Donetsk is not invaded by Russian troops. And here there are not terrorists at all. This is just NATO propaganda. Trust me. I am working and living in Donetsk since July 2016. Here there are good people. Just they don’t want to be part of the Euroatlantic Axis and ruled by a sort of crypto-nazi morons.”

Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 05/28/2017 / Times of News / May 28, 2017 / Over the past 24 hours the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed 43 ceasefire violations. The biggest number of shellings on the enemy’s part was registered in the Donetsk direction; 43 artillery projectiles of 152mm and 122mm calibres, 144 mortar shells of 120mm and 82mm calibres were launched from the positions of the 72nd and 92nd separate mechanized brigades onto the localities of Styla, Krutaya Balka, Yakovlevka, Yasnoye, Yasinovataya, Dokuchayevsk, Spartak, Staromikhailovka, Zhabichevo, the airport area and the Petrovsky district of Donetsk. In addition, fire was launched with tanks, grenade launchers, and small arms. In the Gorlovka direction, the enemy shelled the areas of the localities of Gorlovka, Golmovsky, Dolomitnoye, Zaitsevo and Shirokaya Balka. Five 122 mm artillery projectiles of 122mm calibre, 15 mortar shells of 82mm calibre were launched from the positions of the 55th separate artillery brigade, 53rd separate mechanized brigade, and 25th separate airborne brigade. Fire was also launched various types of grenade launchers and small arms. In the Mariupol direction, Ukrainian criminals of the 36th separate marine brigade shelled Zaichenko locality with 152mm artillery. Along with that, fire was launched with mortars and various types of grenade launchers near the localities of Tavricheskoye, Sakhanka, Bezymennoye and Leninskoye. As a result of the bombardments, gas and electricity supply was disrupted in Kominternovo locality, a house was damaged on Kotovsky Street, 12, in Dokuchayevsk, and on Fruktovaya Street, 5, in Gorlovka. *** Our reconnaissance received a number of documents from the headquarters of the so-called “ATO” zone and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, as well as from sources in the 92 separate mechanised brigade, which explains the increased number of shellings from the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces throughout the territory of the Republic and residential areas of Krasnogorovka locality. The increase in the number of attacks is connected with an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Command to conceal the increase in the number of deserters in units of the 92 brigade and the abandonment by the military of their positions. In this connection, in order to contain possible active operations of the units of the DPR Armed Forсes, the enemy uses heavy artillery and other weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements in bare areas. Lugansk Defense: Situation Report, 05/28/2017 / DONi News / May 28, 2017 / The situation in the responsibility zone of the LPR People’s Militia underwent no essential changes and remains tense. Over the past day, the enemy committed four violations of the ceasefire. Our units’ positions near the localities of Kalinovka, Krasny Yar and Lozovoye were shelled. When attacking, the Armed Forces of Ukraine applied the 152mm and 82mm artillery, grenade launchers, and small arms. In total, 199 projectiles and shells were launched onto the Republic’s territory. Today, the Ukrainian party again failed to comply with the conditions for the implementation of the Framework Agreement for the disengagement of forces and assets in the section No. 1 near Stanitsa Luganskaya locality. All the requirements of this agreement have been observed on the part of the LPR People’s Militia. We are still ready to fulfil these requirements, but only simultaneously with the Ukrainian party. The AFU does not cease reconnaissance along the entire contact line using unmanned aerial vehicles, which is prohibited by the Minsk Agreements. Thus, in the vicinity of Schastie village, in the responsibility zone of the 14th AFU brigade, a drone was detected when conducting reconnaissance along the contact line. This evidences that the AFU command plans criminal provocative shellings in this direction with application of both artillery and mortars. We, in our turn, adhere to the ‘silence regime’ and observe the Minsk Agreements. Our actions are aimed at solving the conflict in Donbass peacefully. —Official representative of the LPR People’s Militia Lieutenant-Colonel Andrey Marochko, official translation by DONi News Agency

Wife of DPR Head Fought with Machine Gun in Battle for Donetsk Airport / Life.ru / Translated by Quemado Institute / May 28, 2017 / Alexander Zakharchenko said that for several hours his wife was under fire and fought. / On the third anniversary of the start of the fighting for the Donetsk airport, which became one of the most bloody in the Donbass, the head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, along with journalists from Life, went to the airport to recall the events of the spring of 2014. One of the vivid memories was that in his first fight for the airport terminals he was accompanied by his wife. “Natalia Vladimirovna did not want me to die.” And since I realized that she would not dissuade me from participating in these battles (for Donetsk airport, -Life Ed.), she set a condition on me: either we go together, or neither of us go. She also put on a uniform, took a submachine gun and came here. Then she threw down the automatic, and had to run with the PKK. Later [she] coordinated [with] the movement of our units. And so, she lay here under fire as much as I did,” said Alexander Zakharchenko. Earlier, together with the film group of Life.ru, the territory of the Donetsk airport was visited by a local resident Victoria Zueva. Before the fighting, the woman worked in a cafe where pilots and passengers were waiting for departure. After visiting the ruins of her former workplace, she shared her memories and impressions of what she had seen.

Nazis ready to destroy Donbass infrastructure soon / News Front / May 28, 2017 / KIEV / If anybody thought Donbass had heard the last of the radical neo-Nazi military forces that started the blockade in February that snowballed into a full fledged divorce between Kiev and Donbass, they had another thing coming. The Ukrainian headquarters of the neo-Nazi military units originally blocking trade with the areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions outside of Kiev control have announced plans to begin a new stage of violent activity in two weeks. “We believe that the enterprises which our forces can bring pressure upon are those controlled by Russian citizens in the Donbass, the pressure on which will make Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Poroshenko to take a decision to return our men held as prisoner now.” “The owners of these enterprises in Ukraine are posing a danger to our country’s security. In two weeks, we will begin our action to apply pressure to the sore spots of Russian business,” Anatoliy Vynohrodsky, second commander of the Donbas separate special forces battalion of the Ukrainian National Guard, told a press conference in Kiev on Friday. He would not say what the blockade’s ‘second stage’ involved. But sources close to him had no problem pointing out that for the last two weeks heavy military hardware has been brought up to the “ATO” zone, with the intent of destroying the mines, factories and establishments across Donbass, so no part of these enterprises will generate funds for Kiev, Donbass or Moscow. “To date, our headquarters has given the command to mobilize our supporters… We understand that trade with Russia is a very subtle moment and you can’t shut everything off straight away, we will be dealing with it directly soon enough,” Vynohrodsky said. Today it is possible to stop importing coal from the breakaway areas and Russia, he said. “The decision to discontinue coal supplies from the breakaway Donbas areas has not been signed. We will press and, if need be, will destroy the coal mines ourselves,” Vynohrodsky said.

Ukraine Junta MP Nadia Savchenko Now Admits Crimea Is Gone, But That Donbass Can Be Returned, But How? / Novorossia Today / May 28, 2017 / In a stunning defeat to western supporters of Kiev, MP Nadia Savchenko now says Crimea is gone for the foreseeable future, but that Donbass can be returned by negotiations. “This came as quite the surprise in Donetsk and Lugansk, where not only are integration conferences with the Russian Federation are being held, but suddenly Russian investors are showing up in great numbers offering to buy apartments, property and businesses.” The remarks came during a Kiev television interview, where Savchenko says the only way to get back Donbass is to give up Crimea-at least temporarily, but for the “near future.” “As for the peaceful measures and Russia failing under pressure of sanctions… Crimea will have to be left aboard. It will have to be left out, at least for some time – the issue will not be solved in the near time,” Savchenko said. Member of Parliament Savchenko added that the “occupied” areas of Donbass could be released by means of peaceful negotiations. This came as quite the surprise in Donetsk and Lugansk, where not only are integration conferences with the Russian Federation are being held, but suddenly Russian investors are showing up in great numbers offering to buy apartments, property and businesses. ‘Whatever my fellow MPs are saying, we will have to pass on keeping Crimea. It can be viewed as the “non-recognized occupied territory,” like that of Transnistria. In order to prevent Donbass from becoming another Transnistria in Ukraine, we’ll have to leave Crimea “occupied,” and then it will be possible to retake Donbass. I don’t see that happening any other way,’ the lawmaker forecast. Large numbers of heavy military equipment are being brought up to the Donbass line of contact by the Kiev regime. Military intelligence officials are aware that Kiev plans a major attack in early June upon Donbass.

Anatoly Antonov (–Strategic Culture Foundation)

Anatoly Antonov Goes to Washington As Russia’s New Ambassador / By Alex Gorka / Strategic Culture Foundation / May 27, 2017 / Russian lawmakers have backed a deputy foreign minister as the new ambassador to the United States. He’ll move to Washington in July right after the G20 summit where Russian and US presidents are expected to meet for the first time on the sidelines. A Moscow State Institute of International Relations graduate, Anatoly Antonov, 62, is a career diplomat. The new envoy is a doctor of science. He worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for 30 years. In 2004 he became the Director of the MFA Department for Security and Disarmament to be promoted to deputy minister of defense of the Russian Federation in 2011. He was appointed deputy foreign minister last December. The appointment of deputy foreign minister as ambassador elevates the level of the Russia-US relations. Since 2015, he has been under the EU and Canada sanctions over his alleged involvement in forming Russia’s policy on Ukraine. Normally, high-profile diplomats have been appointed as Russia’s (Soviet) ambassadors to Washington, it’s enough to remember Maxim Litvinov, Anatoly Gromyko and Anatoly Dobrynin. The less known Mikhail Menshikov had served as Minister of Foreign Trade of the USSR before his assignment as ambassador to the United States. The US is going through hard times but it is still a great power. Being a Russian envoy presupposes taking on special responsibility to make him the first among the equals regarding other ambassadors. The tradition to assign career diplomats to the post is maintained. The only exclusion was Vladimir Lukin (1992-94) who before the appointment had acquired vast experience of research work in the prestigious institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences – the Institute of World Economy and International Relations and Institute of the US and Canada Studies. SBU orders to destroy all evidence of the conducted special operation MH17 / By Scott Humor / The Saker / May 23, 2017 / Part I: If you want to know my opinion that hasn’t changed since 2014. The Boeing flight MH17 was shot down by the Ukrainian air force fighter jets, but not necessarily piloted by Ukrainian pilots. It was a CIA and NATO operation to frame Russia. Most likely the Dutch government was a part of this operation. Now, they are trying to hang all the dogs on Waltzman -Poroshenko, because neither the Dutch monarchs, nor the CIA would fancy to be incriminated in this crime. Poroshenko is a dead man walking, especially after banning the Russian social media, which is where every Ukrainian lives. Germany is pressing Ukraine to get back and start cooperating with Russia in terms of trade, because otherwise is a total alles kaput. That’s why someone from CIA or NATO is leaking the documents to “Sovershenno sekretno,” which is not a pro-Putin publication. I am certain that these documents are real, and that all they do is to implicate in this horrible crime a few low level Lugansk regional SBU officers, the country bumpkins. . . . Gritsak refers to the Donetsk People’s republic as a “держава” which means a state, he also uses the words “державні установ” which means “state organization.” However, this exact formula for identification of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics has been used by the Ukrainian Court System and the law enforcement from May 11, 2014 when the referendum by the Donetsk Republic announced the de jure sovereignty of the DPR. The unified state register of court decisions of Ukraine reported that on April 23, 2016 the Oktyabrsky district court of Poltava issued a death certificate for a citizen of Donetsk Republic. War In The Donbass Eastern Ukraine Update 26th May (Video) And Facts Emerge On The Shooting Down Of MH17 / The International Reporter / May 26, 2017 / EXCERPTS on MH17: Gordon Duff Editor’s note [International Reporter]: The article below with documentation came from Ukraine and has been vetted as “moderately reliable or better.” I have set a team on it to do cleanup but we did review sources and decided to put it up with minimal reformatting out of “need to know.” This is very much a public issue. What this does is present documentation that Ukrainian security services planned the coverup of MH17, reasonable evidence that they are responsible for the downing of that crash. This is not easy to follow. [Top Secret] documents of the Security Service of Ukraine: At the disposal of the newspaper “Sovershenno sekretno” were copies of secret documents of the Security Service of Ukraine on the conduct of a special operation to destroy the evidence of mass murder in the sky over the Donbass on July 17, 2014…. To distrust own eyes—this was an unconscious desire when we first saw photocopies of these documents. Most of them, as judged by the holes of paper punch, were extracted from some folders and photographed. Orders, encrypted telegrams, plans and decrees are written on the official trident-crowned letterhead of … the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), as well as on ordinary sheets of A4. Signatures, resolutions, seals. The secret bureaucracy of the Ukrainian Bezpeki “have fallen into our hands which is the TNT equivalent explosion of the international scandal that should bring the President of Ukraine Poroshenko and his generals to the dock of the tribunal at the Hague as war criminals. The person who gave us these documents always appeared out of nowhere and disappeared into nowhere. During our several meetings in the course of a month he … And that’s why – there is no other way out – the newspaper “Sovershenno sekretno” announces a public investigation “We uncover a secret of Boeing MH17 wreckage “. Only with your help we can get other criminal orders, encrypted telegrams and decrees. The international commission for investigation of the Malaysian Boeing 777 crash in the Netherlands does not want to work, distorts and classifies the investigation results, let’s all together help to know or at least get closer to the truth. The truth is about how 298 people died. Only these four photocopies allow us to draw three preliminary crushing conclusions. The first conclusion is: the new Kiev authorities is responsible for the shooting up of the Malaysian Boeing 777 MH17 flight – President Poroshenko and his generals hide the truth and lie for 3 years already. The second conclusion is: Ukraine’s military aviation is involved in this resonant plane crash. The third conclusion is: in order to cover the traces of a monstrous crime, from the end of July 2014 the SBU conducted special measures to destroy the facts of the special operation and all materials that indicate the presence of combat aircraft having carried out combat missions on July 17, 2014». … READ FULL REPORT>> [Substantial article shows text of leaked documents on MH17 coverup, as well as videos on current war in Donbass, including with Graham Phillips.]

In 2017, the number of civilians injured in Donbas increased by 110% – OSCE / Human Rights Information Center / May 25, 2017 / The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine recorded 225 casualties among civilians in the Donbas since the beginning of 2017, 44 of which were killed. / As announced by Alexander Hug, Deputy Chief Monitor of the Mission to Ukraine, at the briefing. He also noted that for the same period in 2016, the SMM has recorded 107 casualties among civilians, 84 wounded and 23 dead. “This indicates an increase by 110%, compared with last year’s figures”, – he said. Hug also added that his colleagues are currently verifying information on the large casualties among civilians. “Last week, when there was a decrease in the level of violence, we recorded six civilian casualties, one of whom died. On the week before last (May 8-14) we confirmed information about 16 cases, including five with fatalities”, – said Hug. According to him, in one case four people were killed and one was injured. In addition, Hug said that a 4-year old child became an orphan when, according to the Mission, an artillery shell hit the house in Avdiivka. “Obviously, there is a correlation between the level of violence and the number of victims. The more explosions and shots, the more likely that people will die or will be injured”, – said Hug. According to him, in two weeks from May 8-21, more than 81% of civilians were killed or injured from shelling, almost 14% from fire with use of small arms, and about 5% from detonations of mines and ammunition that had not been exploded before. —Based on Interfax-Ukraine and UNIAN [Source: humanrights.org.ua/en/material/u_2017_roci_kilkist_postrazhdalih_civilnih_na_donbasi_zrosla_na_110__obse]

Jens Stoltenberg (– AP/TASS/Virginia Mayo)

Stoltenberg says Russia needs to stop supporting Donbass to improve relations with NATO / TASS / May 25, 2017 / According to Stoltenberg, by supporting the separatists in eastern Ukraine, Russia “violates a core principle – the respect for territorial integrity of all European nations”. / BRUSSELS / In order to improve relations with NATO, Russia should stop supporting Donbass, the alliance’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an exclusive interview with TASS ahead of the NATO summit due on May 25. “If Russia starts to respect the Ukrainian borders, not undermining by supporting, and financing, and funding, and helping those separatists, then it will be perhaps the most important signal step towards improved relationships,” he said. According to Stoltenberg, “Russia has to understand, that when they continue to use military force by supporting, helping the separatists in eastern Ukraine, they every day violate a core principle – the respect for territorial integrity of all European nations.” “This is something that NATO has to make sure do not happen against any NATO-allied country,” he added. When commenting on NATO’s decision to deploy four multinational battalions to the Baltic states and Poland, Stoltenberg said that “this is not to provoke conflict, this is to prevent conflict.” In response to a question concerning the territorial integrity of Cyprus, a part of which has been occupied by Turkey, a NATO member state, since 1974, Stoltenberg said that “Northern Cyprus is not annexed by any other country in Europe.” “Russia is using force to change borders, that’s exactly my point,” he added. Since the beginning of the civil war in eastern Ukraine, Russia has been repeatedly denying accusations of interfering in the conflict. Besides, Moscow has called on NATO countries to provide evidence to prove their accusations. Crimea issue: After Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich was ousted in a coup in February 2014, mass protests began in Crimea and eastern Ukraine.
