On Wednesday, the OSCE Special Representative for talks in Minsk Martin Sajdik said that the parties to the conflict in Donbass have agreed not to conduct offensives and to stop firing in the vicinity of the station. On Saturday, in accordance with the same arrangements, the land was cleared around the Donetsk filtration plant. On Sunday at the station, restoration work was carried out.

slavmar5-17jDPR Declares Blockade on Kiev as Donbass Republics ‘Run Out of Patience’ / Sputnik / March 5, 2017 / The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) in the Ukrainian region of Donbass has declared a trade blockade on Kiev, in response to a previously imposed economic blockade on the part of Ukraine. The announcement was made on Friday by the leader of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko. He said that Donbass residents have learned how live under a blockade on the part of Ukrainian security officials, and now the self-proclaimed republic is declaring a blockade on Kiev. “We are cutting all ties with Ukraine, with which we are at war. Yes, we were selling coal to get money and pay wages here. But due to the fact that we have learned to live in the blockade, we are declaring a blockade on Ukraine,” Zakharchenko told reporters. In late December 2016, a so-called Ukrainian volunteer fighters group declared a trade and economic blockade of the self-proclaimed DPR and Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR). According to the group, any trade operations with the self-proclaimed republics are illegal. The blockade resulted in disruptions in anthracite coal shipments from Donbass territories which are not controlled by Kiev and forced the government to introduce a state of emergency in the energy sector. On March 1, the self-proclaimed republics decided to impose a receivership regime on Ukrainian enterprises in the . . . READ MORE>>

slavdec9-16wDestroying Donbass from within–packaged as false “nationalization” / By Vladimir Suchan / Logos Politicos / March 5, 2017 / Kurchenko” and his company have taken over the smuggling of coal from the Donetsk and Lugansk Republics to Banderite Ukraine. This required in the process among other things elimination of the power of the Cossacks and Bednov and Dremov in the Lugansk Republics. This smuggling or export of coal to Ukraine has now been severely hindered by the “boycott” set up by Ukrainian nationalists. There’s no “nationalizatiion.” Assets are passed from Akhmetov to Kurchenko, who is a 30-years old corrupt oligarch, a surrogate for Yanukovich and possibly for Putin himself. In October of 2015 there was a a big protest against Kurchenko in Donetsk–for Zakharchenko and Moscow gave him a monopoly on selling gas and he was freezing the city. He (and people behind him) also set up the scheme of smuggling Donbass coal to the fascists. Otherwise other factories have been sold to the fascists as metal scrap under Zakharchenko and people like Kurchenko. . . . READ MORE>>

slavmar5-17sThe Ukrainian authorities are using radicals and the blockade of Donbass in order to obtain assistance from abroad / Miaistok.su / Translated by Quemado Institute / March 5, 2017 / Senator from Crimea Sergey Tsekov believes that Ukrainian authorities are using the radicals, who organized an economic blockade of Donbass, in order to get financial and other help from foreign countries. This was reported by RIA Novosti on March 5. Sergey Tsekov said that the Ukrainian government may well use radicals for assistance from foreign countries. “All condemnation of activities of radical organizations occurs only in words,” he said. In addition, the senator said that the organization of radicals is likely to cease its activities because they do not have support from the population of Ukraine. Earlier, it was reported that Donbass blockade would destroy the economic potential of Ukraine.

slavmar5-17hUS Supplying Lethal Weapons to Ukraine Likely to ‘Raise Global Military Threats’ / Sputnik / March 4, 2017 / The Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress has proposed a bill cutting US military aid for Ukraine to $150 million, from the initial $300 million. A sum of $150 million is very significant for Ukraine’s military budget. For the first time, the funds could be used for advanced rearmament of the Ukraine military. The money is proposed to be used to provide “assistance, including training; equipment; lethal weapons of a defensive nature; and intelligence support to the military and national security forces of Ukraine.” The legislation will be considered by the House of Representatives, and then it will be approved or rejected by US President Donald Trump. “Despite the fact that the bill presumed a cut in US military assistance for Ukraine, US Congress wants to provide Kiev with lethal weapons. This is the key point. If the bill is passed the money must be allocated by September 30, the end of fiscal year 2017. This is a warning sign,” Russian journalist and political commentator Alexander Khrolenko wrote in a piece for Sputnik. Previously, a bill on providing Ukraine with lethal weapons was already submitted to Congress, but the legislation . . . READ MORE>>

slavmar5-17fTrump gives Poroshenko ‘cold shoulder,’ prioritizes relations with Russia over Kiev / Sott.net / March 3, 2017 / The long-awaited meeting between Petro Poroshenko and Donald Trump, expected to take place late last month, never materialized. Instead, the leaders ended up holding telephone talks, details of which remained undisclosed. Ukrainian observers are concerned that Trump’s cold shoulder indicates that Washington’s patronage for Kiev is coming to an end. On Thursday, Ukrainian news and analysis portal Apostrophe.ua published a worrying analysis, explaining that the long-awaited meeting between Presidents Poroshenko and Donald Trump, “announced for the end of February, never ended up taking place; instead, the heads of state held a telephone conversation, the details of which were not provided by the Ukrainian side. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that preparations for a meeting between the presidents are continuing, but have not named any specific dates.” Earlier, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin and Ukrainian Ambassador to the US Valery Chaly repeatedly stated that a meeting between the two leaders was imminent, and would take place sometime before the end of February. Officials said that several possible variants for the meeting were being worked out, including a meeting in New York during the inauguration of Ukraine’s chairmanship at the UN Security Council. Unfortunately, Apostrophe.ua noted, “winter is now over, and the promised meeting still has not taken place.” Instead, Poroshenko has had to make due with a meeting with Vice President Mike Pence last month at the Munich Security Council. The Ukrainian President declared that the two sides had agreed that questions involving Ukraine or its interests would not be decided “behind Kiev’s back.” Pence, for his part, marked the importance . . . slavmar5-17vWill it hold? Ceasefire regime established between Kiev and Donbass militia in East Ukraine / Sott.net / March 5, 2017 / The self-proclaimed republics in eastern Ukraine established the regime of cessation of hostilities in Donbass at 08:00 GMT on Sunday, Donetsk People’s Republic’s (DPR) Deputy Defense Minister Eduard Basurin told reporters. He pointed out that the ceasefire regime was respected. “Now the initiative on the ceasefire across the contact line since 11:00 a.m. [local time] works. That is our joint initiative with the LPR [Lugansk People’s Republic]. We proposed to stop shelling via representatives in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination [JCCC],” Basurin said. “We will see whether Ukraine would manage to control radicals,” Basurin added. Since late January, the conflict in eastern Ukraine between local militia and Kiev authorities has escalated in Avdiivka and Yasynuvata towns near Donetsk, with Kiev forces and Donbass militia accusing each other of being responsible for the escalation of fighting. Russian authorities have repeatedly voiced concern over the escalation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier in February that Moscow had reliable data that the Ukrainian independent armed groups, supported by the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ artillery, were behind the attack on Avdiivka. Kiev launched a special military operation in Ukraine’s southeast in April 2014, after local residents refused to recognize new Ukrainian authorities, which had come to power as a result of what was recognized by many people as a coup. In February 2015, a peace agreement was signed between Ukraine’s conflicting sides in the Belarusian capital of Minsk. Despite the fact that the deal stipulates a full ceasefire in Donbass, violations both on the part of Kiev forces and local militia have been reported.

slavmar5-17rKiev refuses to withdraw weapons in Stanitsa Luganskaya area / DONi News / March 5, 2017 / The Ukrainian side has abandoned the planned for March 7, disengagement of forces and facilities on the contact line near Stanitsa Luganskaya. This was announced today at a briefing by the authorized representative of the LPR at the Minsk talks Vladislav Deynego. “Unfortunately, we have not received a clear answer from the Ukrainian side, though, we received a copy of the note of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the secretariat of the Contact Group, which in a very veiled form states that Ukraine is not going to carry out disengagement of forces and facilities in this site,” he said. “So we don’t have much hope that the withdrawal of forces and facilities will be held on the 7th, however, we are ready to fulfill our obligations,” the authorized representative of the LPR emphasised.”

Alexander Zakharchenko: “Our fellow countrymen will hear us” / DONi News / March 4, 2017 / On Friday, March 3, the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko took part in launching a new republican TV and radio broadcasting system. The DPR Minister of Communications Victor Yatsenko reported to the Head of State on the executed work. The new TV and radio broadcasting towers reach the height of 340 meters (for example, the Eiffel Tower is some 300 meters high), and their coverage zone comprises the Novoazovsky and Telmanovsky districts of the Donetsk People’s Republic, most part of the Ukraine-occupied territories and a number of districts of the Kharkov, Kherson, Zaporozhie and Dnepropetrovsk regions of Ukraine. Alexander Zakharchenko personally gave the towers a symbolical start. “It cost us 33 million rubbles – two transmitters, two towers. slavfeb7-17fThe Donbass is breaking away from an agonizing Ukraine / By The Saker / TheSaker.is / March 4, 2017 / Tectonic shifts are continuing to occur in the political landscape of the Ukraine. Last week, following the imposition of a total blockade against Novorussia by the Ukronazis, Russia declared that she will from now on recognize the official documents emitted by the DNR and LNR authorities. This week, the Novorussian authorities have nationalized all the key factories of the Donbass. Furthermore, the Novorussians have now declared that since the Ukrainian authorities are not willing to purchase their coal and anthracite they will from now on export them to Russia. And just to make sure that they cover all their bases, the Novorussians have also declared that from now on only the Russian Ruble will be circulating in the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics. Not to be undone, the Ukronazis have also taken a highly significant step: the Ukrainian Prime Minister has declared that he thinks that the irregular forces currently enforcing the blockade should be considered official border guards (as for these soon to be “border guards”, they have explained that for their main border post shall be called “nightingale” in honor of the Nachtigall battalion of the Nazi Abwehr). Let’s sum all this up: 1) The Urkonazis completely close down the unofficial border with Novorussia; 2) Russia recognizes Novorussian documents; 3) The DNR and LNR nationalize all the Ukrainian industry in the Donbass; 4) The Ukronazis declare that the line of contact is now to be considered a border; 5) The Novorussians declare that the Russian Ruble is the only legal currency in Novorussia; 6) The Novorussians will now export their entire production of coal/anthracite to Russia; 7) All the factories in Novorussia will no longer pay taxes to Kiev. I don’t know about you – but to me this sure looks like the DNR and LNR are cutting off their last ties to the Ukraine and the the junta in Kiev appears to go along with this plan. In reality, this is all much more complicated. There is a covert war going on between the Ukrainian oligarchs Rinat Akhmetov, Igor Kolomoiskii and President Poroshensko and there is also a not so covert war taking place between the Ukronazi opposition and Poroshenko. There are also many unanswered questions left, including how and if the Novorussians will sell their production of coal and anthracite either to Russia (which Russia really doesn’t need) or through Russia (possibly concealing its real origin). This situation also begs the question of what the Russian banks will . . . READ MORE>>

Poroshenko meets with UK Secretary of State Boris Johnson and Poland's Minister of foreign Affairs Witold Wasikowski

Poroshenko with UK Secretary of State Boris Johnson and Poland’s Minister of foreign Affairs Witold Wasikowski

[Enemy Report:] Seizure of Ukraine assets in Donbas another evidence of Russian occupation – Ukrainian President / UAPosition.com / March 5, 2017 / Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says the seizure by Russia of Ukrainian assets in Donbas is another evidence of Russian occupation of the east of Ukraine. ”There was another brutal and dreadful violation of international law – Russia has de facto confiscated Ukrainian state and private assets located in the occupied territory. This is another evidence of Russian occupation of eastern Ukraine,” he said at a meeting with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Great Britain Boris Johnson and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Witold Waszczykowski in Kyiv on Wednesday. He also called for the introduction of sanctions against individuals who illegally appropriate Ukrainian assets: ”Sanctions should be applied against those who will enter into the so-called possession of confiscated assets for the violation of international and Ukrainian legislation.” Poroshenko also noted that the Kremlin had been demonstrating escalation of the situation in eastern Ukraine. Particularly, he pointed out to the issue of security: a drastic increase in the number of shelling incidents and casualties among civilians and the Ukrainian military, as well as the use of heavy artillery. The Ukrainian president reminded that in the course of the Munich Security Conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a decision to recognize documents issued by the so-called Donetsk People`s Republic (DPR) and Luhansk People`s Republic (LPR). Poroshenko said that this was taking place against the background of actual pulling these areas in the ”ruble zone,” gas and power supplies from Russia, the introduction of direct budget transfers. ”This is absolutely clear confirmation of the fact that the territory is occupied by Russian troops along with full control over the state border in the uncontrolled area. In this regard, we emphasize that Russia bears full responsibility for violation of the ceasefire, the murder of Ukrainian troops and civilians, illegal detention of hostages both in the occupied territory and in Russia,” Poroshenko said. Quemado Institute comments: We post the above false report from Ukrainian media outlet UA Position to show the extent of Poroshenko’s fabrications in front of Western leaders. Obviously Russia did not seize Ukrainian assets, and the DPR is not “occupied”. Nor has the Kremlin escalated the situation in “eastern Ukraine.” Hostilities have been escalated by the Ukrainian army and Kiev-aligned rogue battalions, to which the DPR/LPR militias respond as necessary. Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 01.03.2017 / DONi News / March 1, 2017 / The situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic remains tense. According to our intelligence, the Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the management of the SBU, plans to shell peaceful DPR settlements using propaganda shells soon. These shells will be stuffed with leaflets calling for provocative and subversive actions on the instruction of the Ukrainian security services. At the same time, we do not exclude that the fire will be conducted simultaneously with combat and propaganda shells to enhance the impact on the population, which is the norm for the Ukrainian side. Also, we have received information that on the TV towers in Pokrovskoye locality they plan to install the equipment with radiation of microwaves to suppress television signals broadcasted from the DPR territory. Importantly, the power of operation of this equipment will be enhanced by several times. This will increase the maximum allowable radiation for the health of inhabitants of nearby localities. Irradiation with microwaves significantly increases the likelihood of cancer, especially among children and pregnant women. The enemy continues shelling districts of the Republic’s localities: Zaitsevo, Dolomitnoye, Ozeryanovka, Verkhnetoretskoye, Vasilievka, Zheleznaya Balka, Mikhailovka, Yasinovataya, Yasnoye, Spartak, Krytaya Balka, Alexandrovka, Dokuchayevsk, Sakhanka, Leninskoye, Kominternovo, Oktyabr, the area of the Airport and the Petrovsky district of Donetsk. So, of course, to some extent, one can understand actions taken by the leadership of those regions which, once again, were rejected by their state. slavmar1-17qLavrov: blockade of DPR and LPR prohibited by Minsk Agreements / DONi News / March 1, 2017 / Actions of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (the DPR and the LPR) to transfer the Ukrainian jurisdiction’s enterprises under the external management do not violate the Minsk Agreements, on the contrary, organized by Kiev economic blockade of the DPR and the LPR contradicts these Agreements. This was announced at a press conference by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. “Neither the transport blockade nor the socioeconomic are allowed by the Minsk Agreements,” the Minister said. “In contrast, the Minsk Agreements involve the restoration of a single economic, transportation and infrastructure space before the objectives of a political settlement will be reached.” Lavrov reminded that the Ukrainian government by means of the economic blockade has put the DPR and the LPR in a very difficult position. “In such circumstances, the leadership of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics hardly had any other way out in order to ensure further functioning of enterprises, it is connected with the preservation of jobs and the need to not only produce these products, but also sell them,” he explained. “So I do not see any problems in the actions of the DPR and the LPR in terms of commitment to the Minsk Agreements.” “We are determined for ensuring that these agreements are respected, but it is necessary that those who influence Kiev to take care of the fact that in this country the government would be able to exercise power against those who are frankly interested in disrupting the peace settlement and provoking the war, power solution,” the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

slavmar1-17mSeparatists Seize Assets of Two-Faced Oligarch. Donetsk Is Now a True People’s Republic / By Riley Waggaman / Russia Insider / March 1, 2017 / I almost fell off my swivel chair after it was announced today that Donetsk had seized 40 “enterprises” from Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov. I’ve been to Donetsk twice, right around the time that the Minsk II protocols were signed. Anyone who has ever been to Donetsk knows about Rinat. He owns half the city, after all. Even after war broke out and he fled to Lviv with his football team, Akhmetov was still considered one of the feudal lords of Donbass. I saw a lot of things in Donetsk that I will never forget, but one image that regularly floats up to the forefront of my mind is Akhmetov’s private compound. You can’t actually see it because it’s guarded by endless high walls. But it spans about a city block. I met so many families living in basements and Soviet bomb shelters who had had their homes destroyed by artillery shells. And here was Rinat’s home, which spans an entire time zone. Untouched. Pristine. Everyone in East Ukraine knows about Akhmetov. And everyone has an opinion about him. Old women in a small village outside the city told me that he had given them humanitarian aid, and the locals were grateful. Some even speculated that he was bankrolling the modest pensions being paid out by the DPR to retirees who weren’t able to cross into Kiev-controlled Ukraine to receive their government paychecks. But everyone understood why Rinat was in Lviv while they were being shelled by fanatics from that same city. He’s a businessman. And he has massive holdings in Donbass. The aid is a bribe. More than one Ukrainian journalist told me that Rinat played a large role in convincing the rebels not to take Mariupol — even when it was largely undefended. A rebel-held Mariupol would ruin Rinat’s lucrative export business operated out of the city’s ports. And he couldn’t allow that. . . . READ MORE>>

It was announced on the air of the «Channel 5» by the coordinator of the blockade, Anatoly Vinogrodsky. ‘The blockade continues. People are on the redoubts.
