Donetsk Blog Feb 9: Shelling – Equipment Moving to Front – Kiev Non-Combat Losses / Russia Insider / February 10, 2016 / This is a new, and, we hope, not long-lived daily feature on Russia Insider. Ukraine’s civil war is still very much ongoing. Both sides are exchanging fire. Civilians and soldiers continue to die on both sides. DONi was recently founded by a Finnish journalist and a Russian businessman whom we know, and we have every reason to believe that their reporting can be relied on as truthful. More information about the agency follows below this report. Due to its slow, simmering nature, events in Novorossiya rarely make headlines, so people forget there is a real war going on. / Shellings continue, with 9 82mm mortar bombs and 20 shots from infantry fighting vehicles (a light tank designed to carry personnel) and 18 shots from anti-tank guns and small arms from the Ukrainian side. (See below what mentioned weapons look like) The DPR returned fire in order to stop Kiev from shelling.slavfeb10z The Kiev military reported 20 shots from 82mm mortars, heavy machine guns and small arms from the DPR positions. The ceasefire is being violated by both sides. DONi reporters personally heard some of these shellings landing in suburbs of Donetsk city. (Credibility – DONi closely follows the reports of the governments of the DPR, and their Ukrainian counterparts, and we secure independent confirmation when possible. In our experience, the DPR’s allegations are correct approximately 95% of the time, whereas official Ukrainian reports are almost never correct, and for all appearances, deliberately so.) Kiev keeps moving equipment and personnel to the front. According to DPR intelligence, this included 3 motorised artillery systems, 2 armoured personnel carriers and 7 vehicles with the personnel and ammunition (photos and description of this equipment at end of article). DPR intelligence claims that the Ukrainian army is incurring heavy non-combat losses caused by conflicts between the military and nationalist volunteer battalions, as well as awful living conditions, diseases and careless handling of weapons and heating devices. In the field, the Ukrainian military has to use open flame for cooking and heating, which results in numerous fires. During the weekend 11 Ukrainian soldiers died of carbon monoxide poisoning and another 27 were brought to military hospitals with skin burns. / The Donetsk International News Agency is a private, non-profit information agency located in the center of the city of Donetsk. It is headed by Finnish journalist, Janus Putkonen and has 10 full time journalists on staff. Approximately half of them are natives of Western European countries. Kiev’s Desire to Rename Cities Shows Real Policy on Donbass / Zakharchenko official website / Edited autotranslation by Quemado Institute / February 8, 2016 / The initiative of the Ukrainian politicians on the “de-communization” of the names of settlements in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics clearly reveals the true derogatory attitude Kiev has toward Donbass and their desire to rewrite history. This opinion was expressed to DAN by Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko. “In general, this is a useful example, like a litmus test in chemistry. It shows what is actually the intention of Kiev against Donbass. It is understood that the Bandera in Kiev decided not just to rewrite the history of Ukraine, but also to erase from the minds of their citizens the traditions, the memory, and the system of values, based on which the Ukrainian people lived, fought and built,” he said. Zakharchenko noted that the manifestation of such a policy proves Kiev’s desire to completely “cleanse” Donbass, in the event of their victory. “In addition to physical terror and purges, which the most zealous Ukrainian politicians already promise, we are anticipating moral terror, which will, under pain of death or deprivation, erase our memory,” said the head of the DPR. He added that all of these operatiions are reminiscent of Nazi Germany, and the action is carried out with the approval of the “civilized West”. “I am confident that the Ukrainians, Russians, Ruthenians, Hungarians, Jews and other peoples inhabiting today’s Ukraine will find the strength to retain the memory of their ancestors, their deeds, thoughts, and values, and that the Bandera regime in Ukraine ended with the Nazi regime in Germany,” said the head of the Republic. “These are very demonstrative words and intentions. Kiev intends to begin renaming of our towns and villages? Let them try!” concluded Zakharchenko.

slavfeb8zUkraine Overrun with Violent Crime, Robbery and Gangs – Top Prosecutor / Russia Insider / February 8, 2016 / Originally appeared at Mir. Translated by Julie Rakhmetova and Rhod Mackenzie. The author of this article is Ukraine’s chief military prosecutor. … As a citizen, I also have claims on our leadership. But I look at reality objectively. What did the Ukraine receive 25 years ago? People still remember ‘kravchuchki’ (coupons – a worthless currency ed). The country with the world’s fourth economic potential became a marketplace of candidates and preachers. Then we elected Kuchma and saw the mushrooming of small and medium sized enterprises. The country thrived for two years. Then there was the Orange Revolution and Yushchenko dismantled the checks that could have prevented the extremism of some ‘rotten oranges’. Then we chose Yanukovich – a good economic manager. Everything was going to be alright for everyone. Q: Are you kidding when you say that Yanukovych was a good manager? A: I’m just reminding those who suffer from amnesia of what was happening in our country. They’ve forgotten everything. God gave us one, then another and a third president, but the Ukrainians were still unhappy. “You didn’t want Yushchenko, so take Yanukovych!” Then we chose Poroshenko. And unlucky us, – in a year he has also become a villain! But, my dear friends, let us ask ourselves one simple question . . . MORE>> Click here.

Economic minister’s resignation plunges Ukraine into new crisis / / February 5, 2016 / A compilation of three news articles from The Guardian, Reuters, and / Ukraine has been thrust into a new political crisis after the economic minister and his team tendered their resignations complaining of ingrained corruption, which has replaced the simmering separatist conflict as the country’s main obstacle to reform. The economic minister, Aivaras Abromavicius, resigned on Wednesday, and was followed on Thursday by his first deputy, Yulia Kovaliv, and the rest of his team. Two deputy ministers and Ukraine’s trade representative have also resigned. The parliament has reportedly begun debating whether to accept the resignations. European Parliament reveals conditions for lifting sanctions against Russia / Russia Beyond the Headlines / February 8, 2016 / Georgy Peremitin / A new resolution passed by the EU body makes it clear that economic restrictions against Russia will remain in place until Crimea is returned to Ukrainian rule. / The European Parliament has adopted a resolution explicitly linking the lifting of EU sanctions against Russia with the return of Crimea to Ukraine. A resolution published on the parliament’s official website on Feb. 4 makes clear that the restoration of “Ukrainian control over the peninsula” is a vital condition for the withdrawal of economic restrictions against Moscow, initially introduced following Russia’s takeover of Crimea in March 2014. In the resolution, members of the parliament call the return of Crimea to Ukraine one of “the prerequisites” for re-establishing cooperative relations with Russia, “including the suspension of related sanctions.” The European Parliament has called upon the European Council to maintain sanctions relating to Crimea (to prohibit imports originating from Crimea, investment, trade and services in Crimea) until “the completion of Crimea’s full reintegration into the legal order of Ukraine.” Life after sanctions: What kind of future awaits Russia and the EU? Life after sanctions: What kind of future awaits Russia and the EU? Deputies also condemned “the unprecedented levels” of human rights abuses allegedly perpetrated against Crimean residents, most notably Crimean Tatars.slavfeb8v According to the EU Parliament, Russian rule has seen restrictions on freedom of expression and peaceful assembly on the peninsula. In the text of the resolution the European Parliament also noted that it welcomes the Ukrainian initiative to establish an international negotiation mechanism on the reestablishment of Ukrainian sovereignty over Crimea in the “Geneva plus” format, which will feature the participation of EU nations, the U.S., Ukraine and Russia. In January, French Economy, Industry and Digital Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron said that he hoped that sanctions against Russia would be lifted by summer 2016 if Moscow fulfills the conditions of the Minsk Agreements, the peace accord on resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The same conditions were named by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry during the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. [Photo: Novyi Svet. Crimea (–]

Coincidence? Baltic Invasion Story Reappears as Pentagon Seeks to Quadruple Europe Spending / by Danielle Ryan / Ron Paul Institute / February 8, 2016 / It seems that Putin is about to invade the Baltics. Again. With journalists and commentators distracted by Syria and Europe’s refugee crisis, Putin’s enduring desire to dash Westwards across the continent “recreating the Soviet Union” was seemingly put on the media’s back burner for a while. In fact, journalists had been oddly quiet on the subject of the Baltic states and a potential Russian invasion for months. A piece published by the Financial Times last July admitted that the “consensus” among diplomats and analysts was that Putin had “not embarked on a rampage” to recreate an empire “as some feared last year”. Given that new-found consensus, one might have suspected that the lull in stories about a forthcoming invasion could be chalked up to journalists deciding to put the subject to rest — but one would have been wrong. For they were back last week with a vengeance. Interesting timing. On February 2, the Pentagon announced it would seek to quadruple its budget for Europe in 2017 to deter “Russian aggression”. On February 3, the UK’s BBC aired a fictitious ‘war gaming’ account of a Russian invasion of Latvia, complete with a nuclear strike on a Royal Navy warship and a planned strike on London — an exercise which one expert termed “psychological warfare”. On the same day, an American think tank, the RAND Corporation — which is partly funded by the US Department of Defense — claimed that Russia would be able to “overrun” the Baltics in 60 hours. In the weeks leading up to the new media blitz, the Atlantic Council — whose primary founding aim is to defend NATO interests — had gotten the ball rolling again with a piece about Putin’s “next potential target” — which, you guessed it, was the Baltics. The piece was then re-published by Newsweek with the headline: “Counting down to a Russian invasion of the Baltics”. This happens every time the Pentagon wants more money to play with. Various “studies” about the danger posed by whichever bad guy is in fashion start appearing. Experts suddenly realize that the US military is drastically underfunded . . . MORE>> Click here.

Kiev Attacks Donetsk Republic Villages Nonstop: a Gradual Invasion / Quemado Institute / February 6, 2016 / According to the Donetsk News Agency, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have shelled settlements along the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic 336 times over the past day. During the shelling, the enemy employed mortars of caliber 82 and 120 mm. Among the villages attacked were Staromykhailivka to the west of the capital, Zhabichevo, Spartak, Veceloye, and the territory north of the Donetsk airport. “At about 20:00, Ukrainian security forces opened fire on the territory of the Donetsk airport,” a spokesman said. “The Ukrainian attack was conducted from positions in the occupied village of Olitnoye, using mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and small arms.” In addition, it was reported that “from 02:00 to 04:00, Ukrainian security forces shelled the village of Staromykhailivka with mortars.” According to the source, the enemy was shooting from Krasnogorovka, using grenade launchers and small arms. The head of the DPR’s Novoazovskiy District Oleg Morgun reported that the village of Kominternovo, in the south of the DPR, was also attacked with 82 and 120 mm mortars. “The shelling came during the evening and at night. Glass flew in houses, and people are sitting in basements.” Continuous Ukrainian attacks have been occurring along the entire contact line during recent weeks, after Kiev seized control two months ago of 9 villages in the buffer zone not previously within their territory. Enemy strategy seems to entail a slow invasion of the Donetsk People’s Republic—gradual enough that the Donbass militias are never quite provoked to launch a defense. As a result, three civilians were killed by shelling in the DPR during the past week, while the DPR militias made no effort to defend citizens of the Republic. In at least one instance, residents have begged the DPR government to protect them militarily against the UAF. Their pleas have gone unanswered. The reluctance of the DPR to activate a military defense is of course due to severe pressure to abide unilaterally by the Minsk agreements—a pressure some observers attribute to corrupt pro-Western elements in Moscow.

Zakharchenko Press Conference: On the Fight Against Corruption, and Convergence on Donbass of Kiev-Invited UN Security Council Representatives / Zakharchenko official website / Edited autotranslation by Quemado Institute / February 5, 2016 / On February 5 at a press conference, Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko spoke about the fight against corruption in the DPR. Question: In the Republic, especially in recent years much has intensified in the fight against corruption. Who are corrupt in our young state, and what methods are used to combat it? Zakharchenko: As with crime, corruption, unfortunately, in any country is deep-rooted. Not everyone can resist the temptation to take bribes or to use his official position to improve his financial situation. You can change the relationship between the state and the authorities themselves to these problems. We are building a new state, and the attitude towards corrupt officials should be as follows: if you steal, you took the bribe and should be punished. The power of the state lies not in the prevention of crime, but in the ability to expose and punish the guilty. That is the power of the state. We are building a strong state, in which there is no room for corruption and crime. And those people who want to give in to this temptation must be aware of the inevitability of punishment. By the way, these I suggested these thoughts to one of DonNACEA teachers, who agreed with it. People need to know that if they steal, they will be detained. Recently, the deputy chief of Kuibyshev was arrested for tax bribes, and the operation was carried out on the fact of violation by one of the hospital doctors. And there are a lot of cases. I think you need to create a TV series which would show the way to catch corrupt officials, and that they pay for it.slavfeb6x Question: How would you comment on Ukraine’s desire to invite representatives of the UN Security Council to the territory of Donbass? Zakharchenko: How can I comment on Ukraine’s desire to invite them to our land? …. Despite their desire, Ukraine cannot invite anyone here. Only we can invite people here. And, in general, in Ukraine, there is too much of a Wishlist, but they do not just get anything they ask for. It would be better from them to wish to agree with us on amending the Constitution and the Law on “special status.” This should be their greatest desire, but Poroshenko refuses to help either Europe or America. We see that on February 2, the Ukrainian government still had not made changes to the Constitution, and the vote was postponed to the next session. I think this is the weakness of the Ukrainian president’s power. Time is not in his favor.

slavfeb5zUkrainian Command pays Nazi Battalion Militants Prize for Firing at DPR in violation of Armistice / DAN / Edited autotranslation by Quemado Institute / February 5, 2016 / The militants of the [Ukrainian] nationalist “Donbass” battalion receive monetary awards from the command for the shelling of the Donetsk People’s Republic, in violation of the truce between the parties. This was announced today at a briefing in the DAN press center, as reported by a fighter of the 21st battalion 56 separate motorized infantry brigade Vladimir Bachinskii, who recently left the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “We have not fired (on the territory of the DPR). The shelling is done by the “Donbass” Battalion, which is right behind us. They know what they are doing—to get additional payments they have to shoot, so they fired,” Bachinskii said. He added that, unlike the so-called “volunteer battalions”, UAF [Ukrainian Armed Forces] ammunition is on a strict accounting basis by the command. This makes uncontrolled firing from the positions of the regular army impossible. “When the company commander arrives and finds ammunition, each cartridge is on a strict account,” said the former Ukrainian soldiers. Earlier, the DPR Ministry of Defence have repeatedly reported that Kiev trims allowances to regular soldiers of the Ukrainian army in favor Nazi Battalions and mercenaries.

slavfeb4rFeb 4 DPR Sitrep: Drop in Morale of Ukrainian Armed Forces, Tactical Exercises in Donetsk People’s Republic / DONi News / February 4, 2016 / ‘Over the past day the situation on the contact line has not changed. The Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire five times,’ reported on Thursday the Vice-Commander of the DPR Eduard Basurin, having pointed out that ‘the majority of the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrate a significant drop in morale.’ ‘Many Ukrainian soldiers have difficulty accepting long terms of staying at the front, therefore, they get engaged in self-harm.’ He also indicated that during the tactical exercises held today in the Donetsk People’s Republic ‘high levels of combat proficiency were demonstrated by artillery, tank and air defense crews that hit all training targets.’ ‘In the shellings the enemy used 120mm mortars forty-three times and grenade launchers six times. The shellings were carried out from the positions of the 36th separate Marine brigade and the 93rd and 30th separate motorised brigades in the localities Mariinka, Krasnogorovka, Talakovka and Zhovanka onto the territory of the localities Staromikhaylovka, Kominternovo, Zaytsevo and the Trudovskoy district of the city of Donetsk. As a result of the shellings, nine residential houses in the localities Zaytsevo and Alexandrovka were damaged. The information about the injured is being specified. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that, to get additional bonuses on the eve of the Norman Quartet meeting, the Ukrainian side has significantly increased its media’s lies against the DPR Army. Currently, there is a stream of unimaginable lies by Kiev writers about shellings from our side. They sound simply ridiculous. The DPR intelligence keeps registering the concentration of the enemy’s personnel and military equipment along the contact line: – In Zaytsevo (0.5 km away from the contact line) there was registered the arrival of six vehicles with personnel; – In Troytskoye (8 km away from the contact line) there was registered the arrival of one infantry fighting vehicle and two vehicles with personnel; – In Verkhnetoretsloye (4 km away from the contact line) there were registered three infantry fighting vehicles and fifty personnel from the nationalist organisation Right Sector; – In Pesky (3 km away from the contact line) there were registered three infantry fighting vehicles, fifty personnel and one store of ammunition; – In Mariinka (1 km away from the contact line) there was registered the arrival of six tanks. According to the OSCE report of February 2016, there was registered the return to the sites of prohibited weapons storage: twenty T-64 tanks, twenty-five 85mm mortars and three 120mm mortars of the AFU military equipment. It happened owing to efforts of the representatives of the international mission after, though, our repeated statements on the absence of the AFU prohibited military equipment in the designated sites. According to our intelligence, the majority of the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrate a significant drop in morale. This is due to the unwillingness of the conscripts to serve in the ATO zone. Many Ukrainian soldiers have difficulty accepting long terms of staying at the front, therefore, they get engaged in self-harm. Only over the last twenty-four hours medical institutions received more than forty Ukrainian soldiers. This statistic can be observed every day. The military hospitals are overcrowded. Many soldiers, who have serious diseases, are not taken in for in-patient treatment, which increases non-combat losses. Today, in the Donetsk People’s Republic there have been held tactical exercises of our combat units. In the course of the exercises there has been improved interaction between motorised, tank, artillery, intelligence and engineering units, air defenses, communications and security units. High levels of combat proficiency were demonstrated by artillery, tank and air defense crews that hit all training targets. The intelligence discovered all objects and destroyed the most important ones. On the whole, the training objectives were achieved. The Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Commander-in-Chief of the DPR Armed Forces estimated the results as satisfactory. It is not excluded that the Kiev media will try again to spread false information about some random shellings of civilian towns during the exercises. We can recommend their readers only one thing: to critically perceive the information of the Ukrainian media that have proven their total inability to publish reliable information,’ said Basurin. —Vice-Commander Eduard Basurin, official translation by DONi News Agency.

UN Finding a Moral Victory for Assange: Will The WikiLeaks Founder Be Freed? / Quemado Institute / February 4, 2016 / Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks and acclaimed whistleblower who has published numerous documents revealing crimes of the US government, has been declared, by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD) based in Geneva, as “illegally detained” during his 3.5 year stay in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. Assange took refuge at the embassy in 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden for investigation into what are believed to be false allegations of sexual assault, as well as potential further extradition to the United States for inquiries into possible espionage. slavfeb3yKiev Attempts Breakthrough in Donetsk, Residents Demand Removal of UAF From Donbass / Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ / Fort Russ / February 3, 2016 / The situation in Donbass has worsened. On the 1st of February, German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a joint briefing with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who said that the Ukrainian side is doing its utmost to fulfill the Minsk agreements, and it’s to the credit of the Ukrainian President. But how actually is the situation in Donbass, and who is in breach of the Minsk agreements, the Ukrainian armed forces today are clearly demonstrating the answers. The UAF attempted a breakthrough on the Northern outskirts of Donetsk, with continued shelling of the Kuibyshevsky district of the capital of the DPR, Zaytsevo village on the outskirts of Gorlovka shudders from the shells of the Ukrainian security forces. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Donetsk People’s Republic, for the past day the UAF shelled DPR 109 times. Moreover, the Ukrainian security forces violated the ceasefire with the use of technology prohibited by the Minsk agreements. During the shelling the UAF used mortars of calibres of 120 mm, 46 times – 82 mm mortars 53 times and used AGS and small arms 10 times. There has been heavy fire tonight in slavfeb3xZaytsevo village, situated to the north of Gorlovka. According to the DPR, the UAF fired on a DPR-controlled part of the village for half an hour. From the position of the Ukrainian side there was about 80 minutes of caliber 82 and 120 mm. A resident of the village was hit, due to the wounds she received the woman is in the hospital. The shelling damaged more than 10 houses – the following houses were destroyed: on the street of General Kondratenko 110 to 150, St. Lacis 16, 215, 36, St. Rybalko 210, Karbysheva str. 67, street Poletaeva — half of the street was destroyed. At the moment the shelling of zaytsevo continues, snipers are also present. This morning at about 11 o’clock, the Ukrainian security forces staged a breakthrough attempt in Donetsk – between the “Volvo-center” and the village of Sands [Peski]. The attempt failed, however, the UAF continues to intensively the bombardment of the area, with the rockets falling on residential areas of the Kuibyshevsky district of the Donetsk People’s Republic. In addition, the settlements of Shirokaya Balka in the West of Gorlovka, Lozovo in the Yasinovatsky area and Gabishevo and Spartacus [Spartak] were under fire from the Ukrainian security forces. Residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic are in a panic. As was reported by people on social networks, in the village of Zaytsevo, the locals can’t get out of their basement as the shelling continues. “We have the Minsk agreements, they simply do not work. Yesterday Poroshenko met with Merkel, she gave him the command at the ‘FAS’, and now Zaytsevo is under fire, and October [Oktobrsky] in Kuibyshevsky rattles, the UAF in Donetsk are trying to break through,” said the resident of Donetsk – Vyacheslav. As was reported by the news agency “Kharkiv”, a resident of the capital of the DPR, Svetlana, today, the situation really escalated, with incessant noise all day, not only in Donetsk but in Makeyevka. “Today Donetsk is shaking, and the Windows shake. I imagine that there is something going on around the outskirts. My relatives live in Makeyevka and Yasinovataya, I called them, they are also restless, all day today we heard that somewhere nearby there is a fight. How much longer will it all continue? Today, I heard that the UAF tried to break into Donetsk, so what is it? Can they not be pushed so that they can never break into our territory? How are we going to suffer, to sit in our cellars, to die? It is clear already that the UAF do not abide by the Minsk agreements, they don’t care, they have one goal — to get our lands and destroy us. The militia can push our borders from invaders, but we adhere to the “Minsk-2″. We have orders, and them?” — Svetlana is indignant. Meanwhile, the authorities of the Donetsk People’s Republic increased the punishment of citizens for violation of the curfew imposed in the DPR. From now on, violators can be detained for up to 15 days. This tightening was introduced due to the revitalization and intensification of fighting in Donbass. These changes became known from via the message of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR. Note that the corresponding decree was approved by the head of the Republic Alexander Zakharchenko. “On the territory of the Republic there is a curfew, which applies to street movement of citizens, public and private transport, and taxis in the absence of special passes issued by the authorized state bodies from 23:00 to 05:00”, — the report from the law enforcement body said. The Interior Ministry said that the authorities had to toughen the penalties because of the potential risk due to increased attacks by the Armed forces of Ukraine, as well as the activation of diversionary groups. slavfeb3zKiev Unilaterally Closes Zaytsevo Checkpoint to Tighten Blockade of Donbass – Kuzmenko / DAN / Edited autotranslation by Quemado Institute / February 3, 2016 / The Ukrainian side has decided to temporarily close the checkpoint at Zaytsevo north of Gorlovka on the contact line with the DPR for the purpose of tightening the blockade of Donbass. This opinion was expressed today to DAN by Minister of Transport of the Donetsk People’s Republic Semen Kuzmenko. “Kiev has unilaterally decided to close the checkpoint at Zaytsevo while at the same time not notifyingour side. This was done with the aim of tightening the blockade of Donbass, because even if our checkpoint continued to work, people still cannot leave,” said Kuzmenko. The UN Mission in Ukraine today called on Kiev officials not to close checkpoints on the contact line in Donbass, as this would complicate the humanitarian situation in the region. “The closure of checkpoints has a direct impact on people’s lives, by increasing the difficulties and humanitarian needs. In the case of aggravation of the conflict, civilians can find themselves in dangerous areas, left alone with violence and the risk of explosion of mines and ammunition. We urge the Government not to close checkpoints,” stated the press service of the world organization Humanitarian Coordinator of the UN mission in Ukraine Neil Walker. Recall, the Ukrainian government, supposedly referring to the increase in attacks on Ukrainian checkpoints on the contact line, temporarily closed the checkpoint at Zaytsevo north of Gorlovka today. According to media reports, it may also continue to close other checkpoints in the conflict zone in the near future. Earlier, deputy commander of the DPR Ministry of Defence Corps Eduard Basurin said that the closure of crossing points between the DPR and Ukraine is nothing but a continuation of the genocide of the people of Donbass by the Kiev government.
